DBFZ has an alternate costume with Videl. It’s always been possible, just harder than making alt colors.

And my MvC2 team was Cable, Spidey (or Jin) & Captain Commando. Yes, I know my team cheap as fuck, Idc

Is not that is harder perse.
But the time that they need to invest on making an alt is better used on making a new character.
After all, they keyframe every pose, and do the cellshading manually.
Also, maybe now that they have more experience, the process has become more streamlined, so it could be that newer games will have alts eventually.
Instead of wearing short shorts, she is wearing a bikini bottom.

If this is the case, i am betting that someother chars will probably get their costumes modified, but will have them available as alts for the purists…

… So colors are less effort than alts. We saying the same thing my dude.
How so? Cable and Commando are solid sure but they have nothing to really assist each other. Their preferred assists don’t really help each other both ways. CapCom is good for Cable but Cable doesn’t particularly do anything for CapCom.
Spider-Man and Jin aren’t good
Jam had different coloured panties for every day of the calendar. ASW are developers of culture, they will find a way to make it work no matter how difficult.

He is but he needs support to be so. So, he also isn’t.
He needs Sentinel to keep away people from afar and he needs CapCom to get opponents off of him.
There’s a reason why the meta for mvC2 slowly evolved into Santhrax vs. Matrix with a splash of MSS. Cable simply couldn’t keep up.
Well yeah. A lot of the best characters need assists. Magneto still wants a Psylocke there despite being one of the best characters in the game. Most of the top tiers in that game are cheap tho. I don’t think Cable is an exception lol.
I guess the month delay for the US release is so XSeed can take this out.

Psylocke is too easy to bait. Which is why MSP has to be so aggressive. If it loses Psylocke the team more or less falls apart.
It’s why the meta evolved to Storm/Sent/CapCom and Storm/Sent/Cyke being the two top teams because they can still function if they lose key characters. The other meta teams like Scrub, Mag/Cable/Psylocke, Rowtron, MSP and MSS simply can’t or not as effectively as Santhrax or Matrix
