Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

You started the confrontation by implying anyone who wants to theorize or discuss the possibility is either “too naive or delusional”.

Just saiyan.

As it is now, you can bet that any discussion happening about any subject is being monitored.
After all, most sites and software owners like discourse thrive by selling data to 3rd parties.

I think that is not really being confrontational.
Is a fair assesment of the situation.

Keep in mind that many mvc fans live in fantasy land.
Just remember how many kept setting themselves for one dissapointment after another, hoping that in X or Y convention/Event capcom will announce something new for mvci.

Is only confrontational if you take it as something only directed at you.

Calling someone naive and delusional before you even hear their point or reasoning is the definition of being confrontational. You can have a confrontational attitude without directing it at a particular person. Ridiculous to imply otherwise.

He came into the discussion with a certain energy, I came back at him with it. Nothing more or less.

I’m not gonna hold my breath on a MvC especially after the director left…sounds a set up to be let down. If we do get one though? Great! Awesome though then I’m gonna start wondering who in the company is handling it…Ono? Cause he’s the on name in the FG division they have right now.

In any case I’m just happy to see mvc2 there with old faces and new faces. New heads who missed out on the hype during its glory days will be able to see the game fully and why people love the shit out of it. Gonna be a ton of hype and maybe…JUST MAYBE…it’ll get Disney and Capcom to stroke their chins a bit if they don’t have an announcement.

  1. You’re not the only ones discussing it.

  2. Not butthurt about it, but again it’s drowning out what SHOULD be a positive moment for the scene as a whole. It’s fine to think about it in passing but the greater conversation should be about the actual Invitational. Who will get the last 4 slots, how the MvC2 scene has looked in recent times, what new killers or old legends will come out. That’s what should be on everyone’s minds, if not their own attempts to qualify.

  3. At no point did I say ya’ll discussing this shit turned it into FG E3. How EVO has RUN the last few years has shown it’s FG E3. It’s blatantly the place where many FG developers will show off their latest games usually for the first time to the public, if not the first public demos. When you have publishers and developers outright say openly they want to get games into EVO it tells you they view it as a source of great publicity for their titles, especially away from more mainstream games overshadowing them.

They also have Itsuno.
He maybe isnt known for FGS now, but he was one of the top men behind the Rival School series.

Edit.

Also, capcom now has Woshige, who was the battle director of SFV.
Yes i know, it doesnt inspire too much confidence.
But keep in mind that Woshige did exactly what was asked, and for better or worse, SFV is a game that hasnt had any kind of broken shit, the game functions as intended.

Yeah, because ever since late 2017 I’ve been seeing people holding out hopes or expecting some big surprise or clinging onto every piece of a rumor like the “Uncanny Edition”, just so at least MVCI keeps going. From my point of view it really is incredibly naive/delusional to still believe this series isn’t buried deep into a grave, 2 full years after Capcom went completely silent on the game and the future of the franchise. The MVCI subreddit was just sad to look at, for example.

I’m operating based on facts about Infinite that push the possibilities of new entries or rereleases or remasters towards the “Nay” territory.

Meanwhile you’re giving me this impression with the baseless theories about MVC2’s EVO inclusion

Sorry not sorry

Yeah, we all see MvC2 at Evo as a positive thing. I think it’s pretty fair to assume most people are glad it’s there. That’s a deduction you can make in seconds.

The more interesting aspect is to discuss why its there, so here we are.

“Baseless theories”

Cool man, we done here. Waste of my time trying to lay out and explain reasonable ideas while you’re sitting here being a confrontational choad, then cry about me being confrontational. :joy:

What should be interesting is the ACTUAL FUCKING GAME. And the fact that it’s not is the real condemnation of the FGC currently. Not just you, the entire FGC.

The thing is that not many people keep the reason of why is there in the context of reality.
The game i there because is its 20 anniversary, and Evo wants to to celebrate it, since it is not only a milestone, but also has a strong ties with the event.

Anything more than that is veging on the excecively optimistic for its own good territory.

The game has been interesting for over 20 years and still is. Nobody said it isn’t. The game and both speculation as to why it’s there after being absent for so long are both interesting prospects.

Sorry, you’re not gonna convince me this isn’t at least worth a discussion. shrug

Yeah this is pretty simple. Plus MvC2 isn’t taking up another games spot. It is literally just an 8-man bracket at Evo.

A re-release isn’t going to revive anything. They’d need to announce a new game.

Is like when capcom tried to gauge the interest of the DS series by re-releasing the collection on the last gen.
Just to find out that not many were interested on buying the same old games for the n-time.

I think we can all agree its cool to see Marvel on the main stage, but not to get our hopes up for an announcement, but nothin is entirely ruled out either

No need for a discussion to get hostile over speculation. I thought one of the things we do here on occassion is speculate, I don’t see the harm long as its civil

One thing i am sure that will happen if a new MVC game is made, is that they will take some pages from ASW recent offerings like DBFZ, BBTAG and now GBFVS, in that the games will have more simplified controls, with Autocombos and such.

And i am sure some people will throw a fit when it happens, lol

I still remember that i predicted all this shit back when DaemonBride was announced.
I joked that this simplification was going to lead to autocombos and simple commands.
Man, if i could also predict the lottery numbers.

Infinite already had down-down inputs and autocombos

Excactly, but they wwere more like an after thought, just an alternative that was more like a clutch.
Next game will have it more like a main feature.

Tatsunoko wasn’t bad with its simplified control scheme, may work for a future MvC. Speaking of which, they need to get the battle director back from that game, that was the closest Capcom ever got to replicating the feel of MvC2
