Dang it Keef, I got a cold. I can’t be laughing this hard.

Gotta say, it’s actually pretty awesome that Reggie is still keeping his pulse on the gaming world and is still getting involved in what capacities he can despite no longer being at the forefront of it. I think his time with Nintendo really showed him how much such a simple medium is filled with infinite possibilities and how it change so many peoples lives for the better.
Sony says they are officially done with handhelds, says Mobile is too strong
Gwent support is being discontinued on consoles
Rise of Skywalker content is coming to Battlefront 2
Switch has had its best sales week this Thanksgiving with 800,000 switches sold
As cool as the vita was they were constantly shooting themselves in the foot it’s entire console life. Even right out of the gate when it was announced with the AT&T partnership.
The memory card shit did them absolutely no favors either.
it’s a shame, because with more competition, the consumers win. So…as I expected…it’s just a world of Nintendo Switch greatness and…lots and LOTS of mobile/phone trash, in terms of handheld/portable stuff…and it will just be that way for a long time…at least several years; maybe even decades. It’s fortunate that at least Nintendo has a portable I actually enjoy this time around.
True facts about mobile/phone gaming. All the games I own except for very small handful are just mobile ports of console games. Lol
I have DQ1-6
FF1-6
Chrono Trigger
Bastion
Transistor
Asteroids
A shit ton of Sega genesis games I don’t feel like listing lol.
I think the only mobile/phone exclusive games I have are the two Steven universe games and a card game called Ascension.
I do have some games through Apple Arcade but most of them are either on a console already like Sayanora Wild Hearts or coming to consoles soon like the new Shantae. So I don’t particularly count those.
I had Everything or Nothing for Gamecube. That game is underrated. They basically made a unique Bond movie as a game. You had Mya and Heidi Klum as Bond girls. That game was legit. My favorite Bond game outside of Goldeneye
Edit: Game was more legit than i remember. I forgot that Willem Dafoe and Shannon Elizabeth was in it too.
Hell i forgot too lol til ol boy said something. I remember fighting Jaws in the game which was cool. Definitely an underated title, back when EA was shit but atleast made good games
You could get a regular wifi model at launch, you weren’t forced into the at&t model.
It boiled down to a couple things imo:
-Crap 1st party support shortly after launch. When the PS3 wasn’t doing too well, Sony went nuts with 1st and 2nd party support and it definitely helped. I wish they did the same with Vita.
-Memory card fiasco. 250 to 300 dollar portable and they still expected you to buy one on top, and you had to or else you had a 300 dollar coaster.
-Just like the PSP the system was ahead of its time in a lot of ways. In the PSP era there were people who used it as an mp3 player, browser and to watch movies and TV shows on. This for sure helped sales. No one needed a Vita to do that in the smartphone era.
-The name. Just like with the Wii U the name didn’t do it any favors. If it was called a PSP2 with more advertisements it for sure would have sold better.
Online passes for handheld games that would lock you out of multiplayer or game content. I bought a sealed copy of Ridge Racer which comes with a gold pass, but the code was expired. I put it into PSN and it showed up and I got hype, but when I went to redeem it it wouldn’t let me. I was salty and I was locked out of a ton of content unless I bought the gold pass.
I couldn’t play Resistance, Soul Sacrifice, Wipeout or that game by the SOCOM devs online because I bought them used. The online passes cost as much as the games themselves too, and I wasn’t going to pay that just to go online to find it dead or its servers shut down(wipeout) instead of online passes we now have forced to pay multiplayer on consoles which is something I hate.
It’s cheaper for me to rebuy multiplayer games on Steam than to sub to Plus again.
Man. I remember when publishers tried so hard to push that online pass bullshit to kill secondary market. I’m glad that shit didn’t last long.
Also the memory card thing is why I didn’t buy a vita for the longest time. $200 (At the time) for a 64gb micro SD card? Naw.
Sadly now we have to deal with always online and digital only as they push more for that crap
Much to my surprise the Need For Speed Heat and Jedi Fallen Order are like EA games from Everything or Nothing’s era. It honestly seems like EA is purposely burying NFS Heat.
Online passes and multiplayer paywall are both shitty anti consumer practices.
I’d say online passes are the lesser of the two evils though. I’d be locked out of like two games if they were still a thing this gen, which is way better than being locked out of multiplayer entirely unless I pay 70 bucks for a subscription to a service I don’t care for.
I bought games like FEXL and Tekken on Steam to play them online again and it was way, way cheaper than subbing back to Plus. Shoutouts to M$oft and Xbox Live, even Nintendont put a paywall for their platform. Shiiiet.
Oh yeah, cloud saves are free on Steam. This is going to be great for when my new PC is up and running, I wont have to dig through my old HDD for my saves.
As a fan of nfs, it pains me how they keep fucking up something that should be so simple.
Super cars & exotic cars, interesting set pieces to have races on, a decent ost, 60fps.
Instead we have, subpar 30fps so they can push graphics, a story mode that only takes away resources from the main reason anyone plays a racer, tuner based culture game loop.
Which i also like, but it would be better on another series or sub series.
I dont buy nfs to drive a toyota.
Give me a fucking Lambo Veneno or Lambo GT.
Yeah 30fps sucks, but I have the game on PC. So I’m not stuck with that constraint. Fighting Games, FPS, and Racers should be 60FPS.
Oh yeah, I’d chat with coworkers who owned PS4s and they didn’t even know what a Vita was. This was a few years back too.
Not surprising since Sony cut 1st and 2nd party support pretty early into the handhelds life. The majority of the Vita’s library was all 3rd party and Indy stuff.
Lots of awesome jrpgs, rogue likes and digital novels were released on the hardware though. The latter of which I was a huge fan of at the time of owning a vita which was around 2012-2015.
NFS was never my thing, I was a Burnout, Midnight Club kinda guy
Burnout games are excellent. NFS have always been hit or miss. Either I really like the games or they are meh.
The times I thought about buying a Vita always crashed when I remembered the memory card nonsense. Ape Escape and Silent Bomber on the go would’ve been awesome, but that ship sailed already…
