Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

What’s funny is Akuma and Geese are still stupidly good despite nerfs. Akuma got slapped on the wrist at best.

Geese got nerfed out of the game. Almost everyone who used him dropped him. The people who didn’t drop him have to work 10x as hard and they still aren’t able to win any tournaments.

I’m sure you know Akuma hits like a kitten without meter or a wall to back him up. Meter change is a big deal on top of his damage nerfs a few weeks ago. He’s probably going to get nerfed again after the tekken finals in a few weeks too, but I’ll probably have bought Negan by then.

Now do you see why multiple releases are better than fighting games as a service model?

At Dubai Tekken Masters Khan got 9th with Geese. The character was not nerfed out of the game at all.

In a world where Lei, Bears, and Gigas place in big tourneys peeps act like Geese is unplayable.

25% meter gain is a slap on the fucking wrist for Akuma. He’s still regarded as the undisputed best in the game!

Holy shit. :joy:

Fuck I hate that I am agreeing with NYM, but I also prefer multiple releases. I can still play every version of GGX2.

That’s fine when you actually change things up and do something different. What’s the point of releasing a whole nother Tekken when they wouldn’t really change anything?

Also Akuma can kill off 2 jab confirms despite his damage nerfs and built meter stupidly fast.

They should’ve nerfed him more. :joy:

Well I’d argue they shouldn’t change anything unless they are gonna do enough for it to be a real update. These micro adjustments that build over time eventually lead to a very different game and at some point the game you bought gets lost.

That too, that’s not the fucking game I bought. I bought that old game over there I can’t play anymore cause you forced this different game on me.

Whole patching situations fucking lame imo.

No review, including the bad ones make a mention about performance issues.

I’m pretty sure if all Pokemon were in the game, nobody would be crying about anything.

Even with multiple versions or new releases (SFIV being the perfect example) that’s exactly what happens.

I also don’t think the changes in Tekken 7 have been so drastic that it’s no longer the game it was previously.

he couldn’t make top 8 with Geese and he’s one of the all mighty Pakistani players.

No one thought Akuma was the best until Geese got nerfed. People like Super and Awais came onto the scene winning tournaments with Akuma three years after the console release. No one gave a shit about the character until great players put in three years of work with him to make him look good.

atif REKT low high at a recent tournament 2-0, then at Dubai low high destroyed atif 2-0. He lobbed the match-up and it showed. He BARELY lost against awais too.

Sounds like you want to bend over and have companies fuck you in the ass for balance updates. Not down with that shit anymore fam.

I know. It was fucking gay. Capcom managed to fuck up the multi release format to. They where on a real roll for a while.

Wrong. I want to preserve definitive states of the game.

What game series gets multi version releases right though? Shit sucked for Blazblue, sucked for GG…not to mention shelling out even more money.

Nah I can’t get behind that for fighters ever again.

I’d say you are just more lenient with having the product you spent money on fucked with wether you like it or not. You don’t actually own the game. It’s free to be change and morphed and messed with and there is nothing you can do about it short of cutting yourself off from ever updating again which just limits your options.

What Capcom has done with SF4 & SF5 and what Namco has done with Tekken 7 hasn’t changed the games on a fundamental level for me to feel that way. Changing a couple frames and move properties isn’t so dramatic a change it feels like I’m learning a new game. Nothing like jumping on to a new Blazblue game.

Entirely new V Triggers and the ability to choose which one to use is just a few frames here and there huh?

Whatever man.

So you’d prefer they sell a whole nother SFV cause they added a second V-Trigger???

Most of them were terrible.

Like what’s the difference between them nerfing a character to shit in a balance patch and nerfing them to shit but they charge 30$??

Most of the new V triggers were shit and didn’t add much to the game. Abigail can headbutt me now, that’s worth an extra $30.
