I think that the problem comes down to the fact that you use bad as a descriptor for not liking it.
Not liking something doesnt mean that is bad.
I for example, dont like many nintendo ip’s because they dont offer something that falls under my preferences.
Would i call them bad games because of that?
Of course not, that would be myopicly stupid from my part.
I also like games that are not necesarily good, since they are plagued with bugs and unintended glitches and exploits.
They are hella fun to me, but if i were to be objective i would never call them good.
People need to realize that liking or disliking something doesnt equate to the quality of something, they are trying to attach an objective descriptor to something tied to subjective preferences.
Millions of people like Trap and Reguetton (and i like some old school regueton), but i would never consider those stuff to be representative of quality music writing.
Edit
Also, people not getting something is sometimes a valid reasoning on why someone would dismiss something.
It wouldnt necesarily mean that the person who doesnt get it is less intelligent.
Plenty of people dont get the appeal of fgs, and just look it at the most basic level and think that is just button mashing where the person with no life memorizing the combos and moves has the advantage, while spamming and exploiting moves.
And even between fgs enthusiasts we have people who dont get the appeal of certain games because they dont understand them at the same level as their fg of preference (like when we have people saying that there is no neutral in games like marvel, gg, etc)
Are they idiots because they dont get fgs? Not necesarily (but sometimes they are)
Keeping with my music examples, plenty of people dismiss stuff like animals as leaders for example, because they say that because is too technical it doesnt have soul.
Or dismiss it as wankery and just the band members muscially masturbating while doing pretentious shit.
Sometimes people simply dont understand the appeal of something be due lack of knowledge or lack of interest on the core aspects of the subject/activity.
Sometimes they give it a chance, learn and end liking it, and sometimes they do learn give a a chance and still decide that is not for them.
So yes, i think that saying that someone doesnt get something, is a valid argument to make at times.
