kojima is making you walk, just to walk. and i dont mind walking since walking=immersion. and the world/atmosphere/scenery is pretty no doubt…but its overdone is my point. no human being would ever trek that far with something that heavy on their back. without getting mad at life.
Then you don’t understand the game world. They have no internet. They only have data they already have with them. They can only make stuff someone comes up with or that they already have blueprints for. The entire plot of the game is to reconnect people so that they can share knowledge because everyone’s knowledge is incomplete. Sam may have had a bike but it’s not like he knows how to build one, and the city did not have the information to even build one.

The lore I explained. The real world reason is to get the player used to carrying something heavy. The symbolic/story reason is probably to show him literally taking on the burden of her life and therefore lifeswork.

apparently isnt fast at all. theres multiple cutscenes for it and you gotta travel really long distances on foot to get to the locations where you are allowed to teleport.
You can skip every cutscene with start>skip. Only thing that takes time is loading
You do leave behind items but by the time you get fast travel you’ll already have the ability to make vehicles like the bike.
i know you can skip the cutscenes. but thats not the point. why put them there in the first place? he, kojima, needs an editor to tell him, “thats fat. cut it off the meat”
i think kojima is a good dev, not THE best. but i think im starting to see how konami served him a bit in helping him throw out some of the fat.
like ive heard more than one person say, they fell asleep during the game. which is a shame since i found alotta things in the lil bit i managed to watch, really memorable and stunning. he just needs like a good game editor to help him make his ideas sleeker. streamlined. but his artistry is no doubt there. but he def needs more no dudes telling him to refine and streamline his game.

I DON’T think he’s the best. AT ALL. I just can’t STAND people judging shit based on misinformation and misunderstanding or intentional ignorance, etc.
Btw I really do want to know what you think I am supposed to say. If a thing is well enough designed/made, but some like it and some don’t, what else can be said? Is the creator doing something wrong by not trying to make something for both sides? No right? That’s stupid right? So then what else is supposed to be said aside from it just not being made for some people

One is a difference of opinions. One can be easily taken as an insult.
If someone thinks a game is bad than to them it’s bad. Not “I think its bad despite being a good game”. That’s not how it works.
Also bad games can be fun but 9/10 those same people will say that it’s bad game but it’s fun. I play tooooons of bad games that I think are a blast to play. Doesn’t make them good. Is being fun part of being good? Yeah. Undoubtedly. But it’s it’s not an encompassing thing.
Instead of constantly giving off the air of “they just don’t get it” when explaining why you think x is good just realize it’s not for them and move on.
Will their opinion change over time? Maybe. My gaming tastes have fluctuated a shit ton over the years. As I think most people’s have.
If Death Stranding came out in the early aughts I’d probably think it’s one of the most beautiful, unique and immersive games ever made. But my tastes have changed.
Everything I have, watched and learned about the game sounds fucking boring and pretentious to me. And not because I don’t “get it” or because it lacks combat. But simply because that kinda shit doesn’t interest me anymore.
To me and others Death Stranding seems like a bad game that we don’t want to play. To you and others it’s a great game that you want to keep playing or you’re excited to play.
Simple as that.
