Naw. As disappointing as YL was its follow up, Impossible Lair is actually really fucking good.
YL’s main issue was the worlds were too big in comparison of what there was to actually do in the worlds. It made exploring a chore/mandatory instead of something you wanted to do on the off chance you discovered secrets or rewards.
The mass exploration would have been fine if there was a constant progress or reward system for exploring. Or if the worlds were more interactive/vibrant. But it was all just really fucking boring.

Yeah I agree, I was watching a let’s play if the 2nd game. It looked tedious and a chore to unlock everything. When games become a chore, I become bored and it stops being fun.

I think the 2nd yuka lalee game overworld map looks too busy compared to Mario 3 or Dk Country. Alot to back track. I am more forgiving with this with RPGs.

This thing looks pretty decent when put together. Definitely better than not having that case and it is just sitting connected together in the open. I plan to screw it to the inside of my cabinet when it’s all said and done. The little black knob on the left is the volume control.
I am going to see if it just works this evening with the RetroPie image in there, but even if it does, I plan to try other images that are made and customized specifically for arcade CRT monitors and low resolution of them. From what I gathered, Retro Pie is basically way overkill for what I need and could cause performance issues.

Well the RetroPie image didn’t work. I don’t even know if I had any video on screen or not. The monitor was clearly “on” but it was dark. I’m wondering if the resolution was just so high that it was only showing the top corner of the screen which is dark.
I’m currently downloading pi2jamma specific images to put on the SD card and then going to give it another go. The actual pi itself was clearly doing “stuff” because I could see the lights on it blinking and what not.

Damn so that shit is basically plug/play when you have the right image. I just used this pinHP one and it works flawlessly. I need to adjust my monitor a bit so that it centers it and stuff more, but that is a piece of cake. I will probably also now pay this dude locally to rejuvenate my monitor since it’s a bit dim. It doesn’t really bother me actually that much but it would just look nicer if it was brighter and more vivid.
The monitor ain’t as dim as it looks in the videos though.
I also need to wire up buttons 4 5 and 6 for both players because they aren’t on the JAMMA harness. They did do something nice in that 4 and 5 for both players are on the JAMMA pins so I have to connect 4 wires from the buttons to the JAMMA harness. Then button 6 goes directly to the pi2jamma.

Pro=tip for those who picked up RDR2 for PC, update your drivers and disable you anti-virus as the game will exit right at the double barrel shotgun screen.
