Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

EA will not be having an early access for Jedi: Fallen Order because they don’t want people spoiling the game

I know is wishful thinking, but it will be cool that this helps to start a redemption arc for EA.

The redemption arc is only possible if the game is really solid, sells well, and makes EA actually rethink their business decisions. I’m hoping but that 3rd thing is going to be tough.

I’m pretty much just waiting here hoping the game is great so I can cop it with the quickness.

Long post with pics of arcade cabinet incoming…

Took some time tonight to clean up the wiring and mount it and it turned out great.

On the inside of the cabinet is a board mounted to the side of the cabinet. That is where the KI2 PCB and HDD were mounted to. You can see the fan is pointed upwards right where the PCB would be mounted. And shit I need to get a new fan that thing is so damn loud.

Obviously the pi2jamma is much smaller than a JAMMA PCB so it doesn’t take up nearly as much space, but I had to mount it right near the JAMMA harness because there isn’t much give on it.

Here is the cleaned up wiring for the kick harness I had to make before I ziptied it to the rest of the wires, but even this was way cleaner.

And here is the final product. You can see I ziptied the kick harness wires to the big bunch that was running down the side already. And you can see the 2 wires that had to be hooked up to the screw terminal on the pi2jamma for P1 and P2 6 button. I tried to keep that a little cleaner too with the zipties and those terminals too.

And then here is a closeup of the extra wires hooked to the JAMMA harness for buttons 4 and 5 for both P1 and P2, connected to the pi2jamma. I tried to keep it a little clean too because the wires were a tad longer and I wasn’t re-crimping that shit. But it was barely too long.

If you all want to see it in action I took a video of it booting up and stuff so you can see how long it takes to boot up and the interface and what not, with a small video of it inside and stuff too. You can hear how loud that fan is so I’m definitely going to find a quieter one. Hell I don’t even know if I need one to be honest.

And shit, I am too damn big to be fitting into an arcade cabinet to ziptie all this crap.

i dont even have a real opinion on death stranding because
A) never played it
B) only saw the 1st 5 hours of the game.
its true i’m not the biggest fan of open world games mostly due to open world having large empty spaces with nothing to do. which is the major reason i think open world is a bit overrated. its just that my 1st impressions of kojima’s game made me think he wasnt either listening to his game editor or his wasnt strong enough on his back for cutting down some of his excess thoughts on how the gameplay should flow. specifically making the trekking through the vast landscapes less tedious. i think his visuals, story, and atmosphere not to mention the acting is strong… to then bog it down with “carry containers so far you get sleepy” gameplay. its a tad much on that tip for me at least. i’ll watch a playthrough, or buy it when its like 20 bucks max. but that type of open world tedium isnt for me.
i like hellblade senuas sacrifice and everyone calls that a walking sim. but its only 10 hours long. and i dont walk aimlessly through a large open world without much to do in it. perhaps kojima’s mistake was making it so big when less landscape might have been more. cuz i hear the game is 60 hours long. with 7 or 8 hours cutscenes so its like…making me think he wanted too much. his ambition might have been too much in making the game too big. idk. just thinking out loud here.

The memea for Mai not being im Ultimate are freaking hilarious.

My nephew loves Terry and has played some Garou: Mark of the Wolves months before Terry was announced and he really likes that game.

Speaking of Fatal Fury, how are the Real Bout games? I’ve never played any of them, only FF, FF2 FFS and FF3.

Real Bout Special is the only one that matters, imo.

Real Bout 1 has the funniest Ring Outs and coolest stage transitions in all of fighting games.

Real Bout Special has the most polished gameplay and balance of the SNK fighters.

Real Bout 2 has some nice stages, a Kung Fu girl with Dan-tier hadokens, and a new boxer character (so good he is broken). A lot of cut corners though.

Real Bout series is pretty much SNK’s answer to Street Fighter Alpha. And they’re :fire::fire:. Special is my favorite of the 3, seems the most complete

I just played through the Pit of Heresy dungeon in Destiny 2. Man, having come back after about a year-long break with the game, I gotta say Destiny finally feels like it did back in the Taken King and Rise of Iron eras. I’m having a blast with it again. I still want to do the raid, but it’s tough to find enough people playing at the same time to coordinate a fire team of 6. Anyone still playing it here, or anyone who wants to start, hit me up!

The Real Bout games all sound special in one way or another. One thing I’ve noticed is that they all have a very noticeable visual jump in quality over the first 3 games.

…GUFFAW!

WOW. I still have no interest in seeing the movie, but that is a major come-up design-wise.
