Yes please.
Iāve had the same problem with pretty much every Nintendo console Iāve owned since the N64. there would be a handful of games I really liked, but after I got done playing those there wasnāt really anything else I was interested in and so Iād end up selling the console. I even did that with the DS, after I got done playing the Castlevania games, Metroid prime hunters, and a few others I even bought several games but just wound up not playing them just because my interest waned very quickly. Never had that problem with Sony though.
Eh the Switch is the only console Iāve ever had a backlog on since I used to pirate like 10 games a week back in the Xbox/PSX days. There are so many good games on Switch and a lot of them are the indie games that are like $10-$15 so you donāt spend too much money on em.
Vampyr---- 3rd person action-RPG kind of thingā¦ the main deal is that you are newly-turned vampire āDr. Jonathan Reidā, in 1918 while the Spanish Flu epidemic is going on. Jonathan can help people who are sick since heās a doc, but he also now has these vampiric urges to feed on them tooā¦so thereās some interesting choices at play here, in terms of feeding on the people or not, and the consequences if you do.
They built an interesting āwebā of social connections with the peopleā¦so letās say you decide to feed on the single father over in Whitechapelā¦ then you get to see how the people he knew and loved react to his sudden āmysteriousā death. On my 2nd playthru Iām a pure evil son of a bitch so I fed on that one mainly to see what would happen to his sonā¦how he handles suddenly being an orphan. I actually fed on too many people that night and then sleptāthe next day that whole district was fucked over permanently; haha it was awesomeā¦all of them either confirmed as dead ā¦or missingā¦or āembracedā. You also hear their thoughts in their final moments of lifeā¦yeah this game goes down some dark roads, man.
Thereās various vampire powers to play with too; different ābuildsā for Jonathan which include a choice of different āUltimateā abilities. My current is the one that makes the shadows grab and attack people.
One issue some people may not like is that it is heavy on story and dialogueā¦ you would spend a LOT of time just talking to the people; this is encouraged because the more you find out about them, the more āEXPā they are worth if you choose to feed on themā¦you also earn way more EXP by feeding than fighting enemies, which creates an interesting aspect of temptation. (and like any other gameāmore exp = fast-track to GOD status; heh, my evil version of Dr. Reid got ridiculous pretty fast; level 33 now and seemingly unstoppable with all these powers) I could go on and on forever talking this game up so Iāll stop there.
editāmay as well give you the trailer too:
holy shit I donāt even remember this oneā¦ I like this trailer better:
Iām out of town for a conference. What are some good indie games youād recommend? I like platforming, metroidvania, action/adventure.
I have Hollow Knight and Celeste. Both are excellent.
Blaster Master Zero 1&2 and Kamiko. 3 games for less then 30 bucks.
I donāt have a ton of em but the ones I do I enjoy. Hollow Knight for sure but you have it. The Monster Boy games are great although not really āindieā I guess, but the old SMS remake is on there and itās good. Gun Clive HD collection owns too and is mad cheap. Golf Story was great. Graceful Explosion Machine is pretty cool if youāre into Geometry Wars style of games, but not as good. I got kinda bored of it quicker than I expected. Yokuās Island Express was fantastic too. I donāt recommend Old Man Story even for the $5 I paid for it, itās just boring.
That is all I can think of right now. My buddy has a bunch that Iāve played on his Switch but I canāt think of the names of them. One was this speed run type game where you are like a stick figure and have to get to the end of the level within X seconds to get a gold medal, silver, etc. Then there is this one that reminds me of Adventure Island and itās also one of those games I think once you start moving forward you have to keep moving forward and levels are short. But sorry canāt think of any names of these ones.
Oh shit, I forgot about Gunman Clive. I actually played the first one on my phone, and despite the shitty touchscreen controls I fucking loved it. May have to check that out on switch with proper d pad and buttons.
It is $3 right now for the collection that includes 1 and 2. I think itās normally $4 so not a huge discount lol.
Shantae series is fantastic. One of the few Metroidvania games I like. The gameplay is fun, exploring feels like youāre actually accomplishing something, all the upgrades you get just make shantae that much more adorable and charming. The style just oozes charm and cuteness. All the character designs are great. I donāt remember which ones are on the Switch and they can be on the pricey side ($15-30) but theyāre worth it.
Bastion is amazing, imo. Itās kind of an action adventure dungeon crawler? Itās really unique in look and feel. Some people bitch about the narrator but he serves a purpose and adds an overall charm to the game. Itās one of my favorite Indy games ever. I have a few shirts of it and I have concept art I bought at pax signed by the creator of bastion and the character designer. Iāve bought it I think 4 times? Itās a great game.
Child of Light is a really fun, basic and decently lengthed RPG. Itās been so long I donāt really remember a lot of it? I just remember loving itās art style (itās mainly water color based which gives it a super cool looking aesthetic), the characters are unique designed and the combat system is fun.
Is Shantae that game with the girl in it and she has dem tiddies?
Yes? Sheās half genie and has titties. Lol
A lot of her friends like her rival, Risky Boots as well
I mean, sheās a cutie. All the girl characters are cuties. I just picked that specific gift cause she looks silly and angsty.
Had never heard of that Shantae game but just googled it and wow the animation in it looks fantastic. It reminds me A LOT of the new Monster Boy game.
All the Shantae games are pretty fucking ace. Series goes back to the Gameboy color by the way. Series is surprisingly old and took far far too long to catch on.
I legit cannot watch him talk about the intro to FF7 because I feel the same goosebumps.
Man its super silly, but FF7 hit me something fierce as a kid. I really need to replay it again.
