Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

The actual date is known? A quick google search just shows June.

Also do you guys think you will need to pay for Nintendo online to play user generated levels for Mario Maker 2?

A European store accidentally leaked the release date as June 12. It was quickly taken down but not before people got screen shots.

I’m expecting to need online to dl people’s stages. I’d like to think they won’t but fully expecting them to do it.

If I need Switch online to download stages then I’m skipping Mario Maker.

Yeah if they require Nintendo online I too will be passing on Mario Maker 2 as well. Hopefully this information comes out before the game launches.

It will most likely require Nintendo online to download of upload levels but besides that the game software should be fine to mess around with offline.

And I will most likely not buy it if that’s the case. I’ve had it pre-ordered since the announcement but will gladly cancel it if I need some BS subscription to play other people’s levels.

They are absolutely going to integrate NSO Into MM2. Why the fuck wouldn’t they?

So the big rumor about the direct that’s ā€œscheduledā€ for the 11th is the overarching theme of the direct will be a tribute, giving thanks and saying good bye to Reggie. It will still show off games, upcoming dlc, release dates…etc but Reggie will be the theme.

Which likely means he will be narrating it like he use to along with a lot of funny skits, throwbacks and vignettes.

Yeah, they announced June during the last Direct. Hoping to get an actual date.

And yes, I can’t imagine you’ll be able to play online content without having Nintendo’s… online service…

No big deal for me since it’s something I already subscribe to.

Unfortunate for those skipping the game because of it, though.

Edit: Just thought of something. What if we can have GHOST RACES in SMM2?! They could set it like in 3D World where you race the Mii of whatever player you’re trying to beat. How awesome would that be?

I get both sides regarding smm2. I get that as a gamer you don’t really feel like you shoul have to spend an extra 20 bucks just to have access to player made content especially if you feel that’s gonna be the only thing you may end up using the online service for. Ya’ll are well within your rights to pass on it.

That being said Nintendo is a business and their mission is to try to continue to make their online enticing enough to spend that 20 bucks.

Kinda curious but don’t most games that give access to player created content on consoles require their online services?

got it bookmarked. Thx d3v.

Well it’s not really ā€œplaying onlineā€ though. You’re just downloading something and playing it locally. And then there are leaderboards and stuff. But I don’t know how they handle leaderboards now and things like that as I don’t play any games on Switch that are online.

It’s this gray area, so who knows what they will do. I’m assuming they will make you sub to NSO for it because they like money, but they will lose my sale if that is the case.

It’d be nice if SMM2 bypassed Nintendo Online, but that isn’t happening. I’ll probably sign up for the service when SMM2 drops.

I do like that Europe is investigating the 3 console makers about their online subscriptions. Free online in consoles should be a thing…again.

Little Big Planet 3 didn’t need PS+ to access player levels. You only needed it for online co-op. SMM2 should bypass Nintendo online as there’s no multiplayer to speak of.

Thanks for answering. So if Sony didn’t put access to player made content behind the subscription then that makes the chances of them putting it behind the paywall slimmer. Would def be nice if they didn’t can put another feather in their hat for being a top 10 reputable company.

Come on now…don’t squander it.

This, I did not know. Now you got my hopes up dammit >_<

Where in the hell did that Jade promo come from? I’ve never seen that lol.

I’m kinda hoping there is, and with Luigi on the box art it’s definitely hinting at the possibility.

But I totally get where y’all are coming from. In fact, I think it’s complete bullshit you have to pay for an online service, period. I hate that you have to pay for PSN to play online, especially after they touted how they were free and MS Gold wasn’t. Now we have Nintendo doing the same thing. Bullshit.

But you know what? I like to play video games online with my friends, and if that’s the cost for admission I’m gonna pony up. I pay the $60 a year for Sony and $20 for Nintendo.

At least it’s cheaper than PS and MS services.

ha, I bet a certain friend is going to try and save face by just claiming Warhammer Inquisitor CAN be played offline. He bought that shit and probably regrets not doing the research beforehand to realize it’s yet more of the industry’s ā€œonline-only! lolā€ bullshit…this should be funny as he just proceeds to pretend he can play that one offline, because he’s one of those people who can never admit he’s wrong or made a bad choice on something. I think if it comes up again I’ll just refer him to the various forum topics where people are probably still wishing for an offline mode.

This issue with Super Mario Maker does present quite the problem; I didn’t even think about it really until people brought it up in recent posts… I also would rather not pay Nintendo even 1 cent for that shitty ass service…I used up my free trial on Diablo 3 and canceled before they started charging me. I could probably be ok just making and playing my own levels… I had more fun with that aspect of it as opposed to playing other people’s levels…I would miss that pleasure of uploading my creations though and seeing who could pass them.
