You can like it or have whatever opinion you want about it- I think it’s a great game too, I’ve put a lot of hours in, and I’ve double dipped. I just see a ton of people who won’t acknowledge any criticism of it as legitimate, and a ton of people who don’t really even play that kind of game gush about it because it’s an “in” opinion to have in geek circles.
And holy shit at anyone who can’t get why a grown man might find that cheesly girly pop music embarrassing.
Just a note, only the centuar enemies in Bayonetta 2 can block out of a combo (and bosses) And there are ways around that like combining their side or their flank. Can’t block you from there even in a launch.
It cam be gotten around so I really don’t mind it too too much. I have a far bigger problem with the bosses only being damagable during Witch Time. Asir is a fucking draaaag because of this and it makes the fights super 1 note and rote.
Can’t agree with that either. Both can be hit or miss. I think Bayonetta is a bit stronger in this field tho, not all of her bosses are bangers, but none of them are Gigapede Leviayhan Heart, Doppleganger or Savior, and while I do like DMC4s bosses they are all really big monsters that are really easy to dump and dodge around pretty safely. Berial and Baal have huge blind spots for example and Echnida spends a decent amount of time flying around doing nothing dangerous. These bosses where really cool the first time, neat the second time cuz I had a different move set and boring by the 3rd time cuz they didn’t change at all during any of these repeated fights. Credo is a super awesome boss fight but yoy only fight him once for some reason even tho he’s the best boss in the game, and if you want to fight him as Dante have fun with that half hour climb through Bloody Palacd. Even DMCV has that Clifoth bush in Mission 1. Kinda lame boss.
So I personally think DMC falls behind Bayonetta in this regard. Not all of her bosses are greatest ever or anything but I don’t hate, or worse, get bored fighting any of them.
I haven’t played Bayonetta 2 on account of not having a Wii u or a switch, but I wasn’t too into the first one’s bosses vs DMC either. Of course that’s with the exception of 2 and DmC, which had awful and pretty bad bosses (DmC Vergil was it’s only good boss, IMO), respectively. Yeah, there are some stinkers in there, but the great fights are just way more fun than the competition.
I count Qliphoth root boss as a tutorial boss for reasons. Sure, all of DMC’s bosses aren’t great, but the ones that are are every impressive. Frankly, I don’t really have a connection to any of the boss fights in Bayonetta with the exception of Aesir, The Infinite One, and the Lumen Sage.
I actually thought the Fly Me to the Moon was alright . . . . .
I’ll disagree here and say Dodge Off-set is super important in Bayo2, even moreso than the first game. You need the wicked weaves and demon summons when you finally do get an opening. Especially if you are using Witch Time in it (yes you can NOT use it in Bayo2), because the new director went a little too dodge heavy with regards to enemy mobility.
Bayo’s music is awesome. When I first played it, I did a double take that I was listening to jazzy j-pop version of Fly Me To The Moon. Moon River should’ve been the default Bayo2 battle theme though.
If a Bayo x DMC cross over happens, I think the best part will be Dante fighting Bayo’s enemy set. As awesome as the enemies are in DMCV I kept thinking “I wish was fighting with Bayo 2 enemies with Dante’s tool-set.”
They actually have a statue of that character in their office. They call him Platinum Man, or something close to that effect. I would be down to play a game with rocket powered butt cheeks, though.
