Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

There’s a lot of great games in the NSO NES library.

Dodge Ball
Double Dragon 1&2
Excite Bike and Excite Bike Vs.
Ghosts and Goblins
Gradius
Kid Icarus
Kirby
Metroid
Ninja Gaiden
Punch Out
Pro Wrestling (though this may be me being nostalgic as fuck. I have so many amazing memories of this game. It’s one of the first video games I ever played)
River City Ransom
Star Tropics
Super Mario Bros 1-3 + Lost Levels
Tecmo Bowl
Twin Bee
Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventures of Link

Could there be more? Sure. A lot of key titles are likely being omitted due to licensing issues or the company that holds the rights to certain IP’s just don’t want to play ball. There’s still a lot to offer though.

Additions I personally want are TMNT 1-3, Dragon Quest 1-3, Final Fantasy, Monster in my Pocket, Gauntlet, Metal Gear 1 and Snakes Revenge, Mother and a few others. None of those are likely to happen though.

There are a lot of SNES titles missing on that list. :upside_down_face:

You are such a bastard lmao.

I am sure because Konami wants you to buy the Castlevania Collection instead.
Like Athena and Chrysalis is missing as they are in the SNK collection.

If you are willing to dish out a bit more cash, the Everdrive N8 and some minor Rom hunting can fill that gap. If you are willing to wait, sometime this fall a Everdrive N8 Pro is supposed to be release, which means the regular version might drop in price.

Lost Levels is definitely a real treat to be included.

My issue with the way Nintendo is handling their classic game releases. Considering just how old and easy to emulate NES games are I don’t see the reason to slowly add games rather than dumping everything they can legally publish.

haha Nintendo is basically giving the players 1 or 2 potato chips at a time instead of a bag… it’s silly, man. Get some SNES games on there on top of the NES games, and do more than a pitiful 2 a month and that might get my attention.
If/when I get their “service” it might just be for Mario Maker 2 when I finally start making stuff in that and wanting to play other people’s levels…fortunately I’m still addicted to Dead Cells at the moment though… well a certain friend finally got Switch and Diablo 3 so I may get it to play online with him in that soon.

On another note—I noticed someone playing Altered Beast on a random stream yesterday… that’s another example of a potentially great franchise that is handicapped by who happens to own the IP…ahhh if only some other company had that…imagine a modern “re-telling” of that with a serious budget and more in-depth world, characters, etc…with current-era graphics…sheeeeiiiittttttt

It’s weird they didn’t unveil this at E3 or wait for a fall direct.

Edit: HEY! it’s got a real d-pad!

Edit II Turbo: Release date is 9/20. $199.99 price point.

Edit III 3rd Strike: I wonder if they improved the battery life?

Edit 4 Ultra: Pokémon Sword and Shield Edition of the Switch Lite announced

@Million-X
If you bought one…

Super Dodge Ball is outstanding. They made a sequel of sorts for the GBA, but I need more. A legit successor on the switch would be dope. We’re getting River City Girls, so why not bring back more kunio-kun games?

That looks great for people who only care about handheld mode. Definitely would rather have both modes though personally.

For sure. I want one because it’s cute as fuck. I don’t need one but man…that feeling of want is strong.

Switch Mini is a budget option, so I don’t mind the lost of features as it’s $199 instead of $300.

Nintendo has been keeping tabs on @Million-X’s post history. Which has probably told them a great deal. Though they likely learned a lot of things they never wanted to know about another human.

Interesting

So Switch Lite’s pros:

  • Smaller body
  • Upgraded CPU
  • Better battery life
  • Better D-pad
  • Don’t need to worry about the detach mechanism for joycons
  • 100$ cheaper

Cons:

  • IR blaster is gone
  • Vibration is gone
  • TV connectivity is gone
  • Dock mode is gone
  • Screen is smaler but still has gigantic bezels
  • Kickstand is gone
  • It’s incompatible with Nintento Labo VR
  • Apparently compatibility with some games is gone too

Guess this is worth 200$

I know they trying to market it for kids or something, but can’t they just add a simple black or white color as well? Smh…

Oh nevermind… They do have a black and white one.

Considering a lot of people play predominately in handheld mode most of any of these features won’t be missed. It even said in the video this model is to enjoy the handheld experience side of the switch. So all those functions aren’t needed.

Also the smaller size and better d-pad are both much, much welcomed revisions. The weird arrow pad on the base switch is fucking dumb and awkward. The smaller size might make it actually some what manageable to carry around without needing a sling bag or a backpack.

@DarkSakul Nintendo’s website confirms the battery is “better”. Though not by much.

Original on Left. Lite on Right.

Did they ever said any of this? (Other than the d-pad, that is obvious).
Better battery really do doubt, maybe the hardware drains the battery less. But I highly doubt there a better battery in a Smaller sized unit.

Upgraded CPU? More like more secured CPU that can’t be as easily hacked as the launch models of the Switch.

And I never had to worry about the detach mechanism.

Probability a less power hungry CPU rather than an actual better battery.
I know I am nitpicking here, but there is a huge difference. Less Power hungry CPU would mean less power wasted as heat, thus less cooling is needed and the fan will not kick in as often.

You two biggest drains to the battery is the CPU and any moving parts (i.e. Fan).
