Out of those 14 how many are actual exclusives and how many don’t get canceled.

If you been paying attention to what Microsoft has been doing none of those games will be exclusive. They seem to care more about building up a digital platform and putting it as many devices as possible then getting people to just buy their hardware. Their consoles continue to exist so you have an ecosystem to buy into.

Pretty much what @Hawkingbird said. Between them releasing their games on Steam at the same time as console or shortly after, being friends with benefits with Nintendo and soon having XBL GamePass being able to connect to Steam they really won’t have any true exclusives.

I think M$ has realized they’ve lost the console race and has no real chance of recovering; even if they do announce new hardware it feels like it’s too little too late, you know?

So now they’re going to try to make their online and digital presence more known than sony or Nintendo since most “analysts” feel like most major mediums (music, movies/tv, video games) are going to be completely digital within the next 10 years. Might as well try to get a head start.

Shadow Hearts and Rogue Galaxy, nice!

…why I don’t own an Xbone.

I have Xbox app and Steam.

I dont think they ever gain ground back.

They already have no “true” exclusives. It’s kind of incredible how Microsoft single handedly killed off any reason to own an Xbox console by bringing their IPs to Win10

The only “exclusives” I can think of are Forza, Gears, maybe Halo and maybe Rare Replay? I don’t follow any of those franchises or Xbox/Steam news so I don’t know if those have been ported over to Steam or M$’s equivalent yet.

Gears 5 is launching on Steam same day as Xbox.

Also, last I checked, Master Chief Collection was coming to steam as well.

I’m thinking up a cool co-op level idea that has the On/Off switch mechanics in it for SMM2. I want to design two paths, and each path will be blocked by On/Off blocks along the way, and only the players in the other path can unlock it for you, and vice/versa.

The problem is, I believe you have to beat the level yourself in order to upload it, so I’ll have to make a dev path in order to complete it single player. But I don’t want players to exploit it so I need to figure out how to block that path somehow.

I’m thinking, since this level will be focused on the On/Off switch mechanic, have a single path at the very bottom of the level that is comprised of either the red or blue On/Off blocks for the floor and solid ground for the ceiling, confining the path to one tile space high. At the very beginning of the path, put an unavoidable P-Switch over a cloud tile that will make a trapped Muncher in the ceiling fall to block the path after you hit the P-Switch. That will Block other players from taking the dev path.

In order to screw over the asshole who decided to take the obvious dev path instead of playing through the intended paths, all one of the other players will need to do is hit an On/Off switch and the asshole will fall through the floor to his death, and then hopefully respawn with the other players.

I think I can make this work, and it might be a good way to upload multiplayer levels. I’ll have to play around with it.

Also, there might be a delay at the start of the level in multiplayer mode that isn’t present in single player. So maybe a timed switch to block off the dev path would work too. Hmmm…

Can’t both players just take the dev path then?

Not if I have a P-Switch embedded on a cloud tile (forcing you to hit it as you go past) with a Muncher trapped by a brick tile directly above. The P-Switch would turn that brick to a coin and the Muncher would drop immediately behind the first player, killing the second player and blocking the rest of the players from entering the dev path.

Here:

And those red bricks are On/Off, so as soon as another player hits a switch, you’re fucked, lol.

Well, SNK fixed the loophole that allowed people to reset the demo timer. Looks like we gotta start making multiple accounts now.

I disagree. Both other companies in the console race have crashed and picked up before. Sony with the PS3 launch, because they were cocky, and they ended up apparently pretty good. Nintendo definitely made a bunch of stinkers, but struck gold with the Wii, and crashed again with the WiiU, and then picked up with the Switch. Hell, the OG XBOX wasn’t even a real presence, 360 changed that.

The current console gen means nothing as far as gaining ground next gen, any of the companies can and have recovered.

Overall, I have always gotten the feeling that a lot of you want the XBOX to die or go away. That PS3 launch should be a lesson, when a company feels like they have it in the bag. Also the fact that MS tried to pull all that BS with the XB1, because THEY felt the way Sony felt with the PS2, literally helped Sony make a better system. No NEXTBOX, and your PS5 is going to be trash, because they can.

Without these systems to push each other, you’d be getting a PS5 with just barely enough juice to do 4K60FPS at settings comparable to med/hi on PC.

For me, it’s whatever. As long as I’m interested in FG’s, AND the factory controller stays very similar, AND the FG’s are released earlier or only on PlayStation, I’ll have a Sony system. I’ll have an XBOX as long as it keeps the best all around controller, XBOX Live stays above PSN quality and offerings, and friends that play the same games stay on XBOX, and Beth games keep mods.

Any of those things become not true for the consoles at any time, that system is gone, and PC takes it’s place.

I think if they could get steam support for their console it would make the all digital Xbone way more appealing.

Sounds kinda insane, would that even be feasible without cooperation between Steam, MS and the developers?

I think they would just need to allow their console to be a steam box + allow what Microsoft develops. Programming wise I don’t think it would be difficult if they allowed the Xbone to run in PC mode.

MS should just drop the console thing all together and go buddy buddy with Nintendo, steam and Sony
