Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

Talk about a nostalgia overload.

So Guacamelee 1&2 are on sale for the switch right now. So if you havenā€™t bought them or were waiting for the bundle that comes out at the end of the month you can get them on sale for pretty cheap.

I just picked up Guacamelee 1&2 complete editions for around $22 and some change for the switch. The double pack retails for $40.

Guacamelee 2 is also on sale for PS4 as well. The complete edition is $13.79 (originally $22.99). Base version is $11.99 (originally $19.99)

CollecoVision was pretty powerful back in the day, but I know that they also bought rights to console versions of Donkey Kong and made inferior ports of it for other systems before the videogame crash.

I am still puzzled by the phone dial paddle controller design though.

Hey Sony updated the PStoreā€™ s search function. Its not fucking retarded anymore. Has a full qwerty keyboard. Fucking finally.

BTW, that Aggelos game on Switch is fucking fantastic. Played it for 2 hours on my flight to Florida and time flew by. itā€™s old school style like shit but itā€™s no bullshit and straight to the point. Like there is no time wasted in anything in the game, and I love it. Even when reading text, it doesnā€™t do that stupid scrolling stuff to take more time, it just shows the new text immediately after you press a button so you can read it as fast as you can, and go on.

Game is great.

Reminder that the Path of Exile Flashback league is starting tomorrow. Every area you go into will have 3x mods from previous expansions affecting the level, and this can be stacked with other mods later on when you hit end-game. At lower and higher levels itā€™s absolutely bonkers.

It affects all versions of the game(PC, PS4 Xbone) and you get to keep all currency/items you find. The last one was almost a year ago and I played the entire thing because it is just so much goddamn fun.

If you hit level 35 you get a free MTX box which is really cool, and if you hit level 95+ you get put into a random draw to win an armor set. I won a set in the last one they had almost a year ago and I shit my pants. Perfect time to jump in imo. :+1:

  • 2 x additional Rogue Exiles
  • 2 x additional Invasion Bosses
  • 1 x additional Breach
  • 2 x additional Strongboxes
  • 3 x Tormented Spirits
  • 2 x additional Perandus Chests and a 33% chance to spawn Cadiro
  • Beyond
  • 3 x additional Rare Monster Packs with Nemesis Mods
  • 3 x additional Magic Monster Packs with Bloodlines
  • 1 additional Abyss
  • 2 x additional Harbingers

^ This might not make a lot of sense to people who havenā€™t played it but trust me itā€™s fucking batshit crazy. HYPE ISRAEL ADJDSAKJDASKJDSAKJDCXZL;;LCXZ;LCXZ

I watched the trailer and some gameplay for it. Reminds me a lot of

*Duck Tales

*Shovel Knight

*Kendo Rage (look it up. Awesome SNES game that was basically one huge tribute to 90ā€™s anime)

*Soul Blazer (Awesome SNES Platformer/RPG hybrid thatā€™s heavily based on movement)

*And unfortunately, Simonā€™s Quest and Symphony of the Night. Which makes me NOT want to get it.

Soā€¦is it anything like those last 2?

Aggelos is an homage to the Wonder Boy/Monster World games. I think I saw the trailer just after beating Monster World so the freshness was still there and apparent.

@purbeast since youā€™re a fan of Monster World, Iā€™d go for it. I would too but Iā€™m going through my backlog before I buy more games

Edit: Just saw your post @purbeast. Good stuff!

Never played them so that means absolutely nothing to me. Iā€™m going by my impressions based off what Iā€™ve seen and what I find it comparable to.

More Shante open world design then SOTN type world design. Same for Monster World/Wonderboy.

Gambit system aside, FF12 basically transformed the old ATB system into a real time with pause system. Itā€™s a much more natural progression than anything theyā€™ve did in later games.

Preview/talking regarding the latest faction reveal (please excuse the unfortunate man-bun on display there)

For my fellow Vampire Diaries fansā€” the ā€œTremereā€ are effectively the ā€œHereticsā€ā€¦ the mage/sorcerer-type vampires.

I have no idea why they abandoned it TBH. The travesty that was the FF13 stuff was some bull.

It is well emulated and fully fan translated. Have fun.

P.S. The biggest flaw aside from Final Fantasy XII following a side character like Vaan is that you need to use license points to use equipment and abilities in addition to buying them or finding them. That is very unnecessary.

That was silly for sure. But IIRC they made 12 to sort of play like FF11. So it would seem that making parties and all that would be MMOish. Think they shouldā€™ve kept that style for the next couple of games though. Definitely should be the way theyā€™d gone with FF7 remake.

I think Xenoblade Chronicles took the gameplay design and improved it greatly while Final Fantasy keeps trying dumb new things.
