Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

This video is brilliant. It systematically breaks down why games as a service is a scam legally and conceptually.

As someone who hasn’t played a Sonic since 2, why is he called Eggman instead of Dr. Robotnik?

Eggman is his Japanese name. When Sonic Adventure came to the US Sega decided to use the Japanese continuity and names. The English dub made Eggman the derogatory nickname Sonic and his crew had for Robotnik. Later games dropped this to make it his actual name.

I wish they just used both. It’s a nickname that works for him while keeping the American name as a way he would wish to be addressed.

Still surprised nintendo didn’t do the same for bowser

He is shaped like an egg and he is a man.

and of course the downward spiral continues
hahaha you already know what I’m talking about
here we go

I actually do like this game but I also love watching a good train-wreck in progress. It’s almost like they were determined to steal Fall Out 76’s thunder by becoming the biggest joke in the industry. (*I’m sure Bethesda would like to personally thank BioWare at this point for stealing that “honor”)

Cuphead today—another one down
I beat the train boss; that took several tries but it still wasn’t on par with the ridiculousness of Dr. Kahl’s Robot first form though, imo
or Rumor Honey the Bee. The tough part with the train was this little thing that flies at the top of the screen, dropping some pink candy thing on your “boxcar” steering wheel thing, which usually sets you up to get hit by something.

They use both names it’s just that Eggman’s real name doesn’t really come up as often or is actually relavant to the story as it was in adventure 2. Eggman has always been his name and I dig the fact that they atleast made Ivo Robotnik his real name.

I can’t wait. This is going to be glorious.

P.S. Jim Carrey is kind of awkward as a comedian, but can be a good comedic actor. As far as ‘Man on the Moon’ his portrayal was spot on. If there is an issue with the film it is that it is centered around Andy Kaufman.

So the issue of a biopic about the career of Andy Kaufman is that it focused on Andy Kaufman?

What?

Andy Kaufman is a creep with a very unsavory style of satire.

Cuphead—back on trying to defeat the Unstoppable God— Dr. Kahl’s Robot again
it was on XB1 that I beat him that 1 time, so now I’m trying and dying over and over again on Switch version
this boss is SO goddamn ridiculous, man

Check how easy this player makes it look though:

but trust me, 99.999% of people won’t be able to do that so smoothly^.
HELL YEAH that muthafucka is DOWN now! Hell yeah, man :fist:

edit— it will be interesting to see if Jim Carey’s career can survive this Sonic film
maybe he’s in the mood of “eh, fuck it.” and was just seeing another paycheck? Just in that one picture though, it already looks like something that can end the acting career of most people.
reminds me of that “Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar” film that nearly destroyed Wesley Snipes (and those other guys that were in it)

Busted out the PSP and played some Pocket Racers, NFS: Underground Rivals(fun as hell and is graphically REALLY close to the Underground games on console) and this gem:

This game is awesome. It’s similar to the After Burner games but there’s actual racing involved with a nice sense of speed. The Nitrous mechanic is even called After Burner. It’s fast, there’s Nitrous, you can perform slick maneuvers to dodge incoming projectiles and the performance is smooth and it just felt fun as hell to play. You can pick up items during races ALA Mario Kart, and this range from giving you Nitrous to giving you weapons to blow up rival racers.

There’s a nice sense of speed with this game and NFS: Underground Rivals. 600 MPH according to the HUD in M.A.C.H. while maneuvering around corners and dodging enemy projectiles is just so goddamn fun and satisfying.

I’m hoping he hams it up hard like he did when he played The Riddler.

The dude is so famous that whether or not the movie is shit won’t do anything to his career imo. It’s interesting to see how he’s changed post-crisis though. @J-ride I watched the Man on the Moon doc earlier and while the footage itself is pre-crisis him sitting and being interviewed with the beard was post-crisis Carrey.

I actually thought it was great, he said some profound stuff especially when he was talking about his father. It was interesting to see how far he went to just play a character. It’s also interesting for him to have had his dreams come true(becoming a famous millionaire) and yet while sitting around having everything some people could only dream of, he’s unhappy. Post-crisis Carrey mang. I’m interested to see what he does next and I’m hype for season 2 of Kidding(seriously guys, watch that show. It’s funny but it’s also really fucking dark.)

Having had the PSP NFS games, as well as console I don’t remember them looking quite as good as PS2 games, and I never had an XB or GC, and those were reportedly better. The play was also very watered down due to lack of modes.

You think it looks better because the PSP screen was better than most TV’s from the PS2 era, and even if you played PS2 on an HDTV, it looks worse.

The sonic the hedgehog IP if isn’t Dead before, this is the final nail in the coffin.
Fuck Jim Carrey, fuck Sega for allowing this to happen, fuck Paramount for making this shit, Fuck Jim Carrey again for being a no-talent hack (he hasn’t been good in YEARS), and fuck you for exposing me to this infection.

I said it looked really close to the console games, I never said it looked better. Re-read the first 2 lines from that post again. I’ll even quote myself for you.

Jim Carrey has never not been good DarkSookie. Watch Kidding and tell me that show isn’t better than 98% of the shit on Netflix.

Your swearing of a Video Game IP having its final nail being a bad movie is odd considering that we’ve already mentioned before that bad VG movies don’t kill IPs. We wouldn’t be playing Mario games or Street Fighter if that was the case.

Sonic has survived things that should have killed his series but it continues to live on. This movie will not be the worst thing to happen to him.

Nothing could be worse than being coopted by furries.

Sonic fandom been having furries since aol and IM. :joy:
