Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

Nintendo says that Pokémon Sword and Shield won’t alienate long time fans. They’re designing Pokémon Sword and Shield with “primarily hand held mode in mind”

Makes sense. Nintendo knows where their bread is buttered.

Po’s buttcheeks?

It’s why I didn’t pick up Let’s Go. It was so radically different. I wasn’t a huge fan of Pokemon Go. I did play it but for only about a month. I’m sure it’s radically different now due to all the things they’ve added over the past 4 years or so. I still have no interest in it though. Let’s Go was console Pokémon Go which irritated and disappointed me.

As of now I have little interest in Sword and Shield as well. The starters are super ugly and the region just doesn’t seem interesting. Glad Gyms are back tho. The trials in Sun/Moon were fucking dumb

Yeah I would’ve said that too before the panel discussion happened, but I’m sure it’ll be a timed exclusive. I remember the video of Hideo and the PlayStation exec mentioned it was “console exlusive” now that I think about it. Maybe Kojima’s studio isn’t even that big to take on a multi-platform project though?

I’m there day one regardless of. The last trailer with the boss fight was nuts, and that’s what sold me, as well as the gameplay trailer showing traversal.

DMC V is SSSmokin’. Definite Top 5 game of the year. My favorite DMC without a doubt.

Probably the only one here that doesn’t care about Death Stranding. I just don’t worship at the altar of Kojima like everyone else.

I’m right there with you.

I dont really cur about Kojima. Isn’t his only thing MGS games? I liked MGS. I didn’t like any others. But Death Stranding looks cool. Like it will have a good story and decent gameplay, when its there.

Honestly I liked Kojima stuff as a kid. He had more than Metal Gear. Snatcher comes too mind. I perosnally feel that he made better games with more limited hardware.

Those floor death traps in Metal Gear on the NES beg to differ.

My Gods, what a garbage mechanic.

Artificial difficulty at its worst.

Or was he not in charge of Metal Gear until Solid?

Kojima used to make games. Now he seems to make poorly written interactive movies.

Thats a really bad port of the MSX version and he had nothing to do with it.

The MSX version does have those floors tho they telegraph themselves a bit better. The first Metal Gear is more of proof of concept to be perfectly honest. Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake is where he really finds his groove and delivers a really cool and creative game.

The only thing I dislike is V and everything about him. He’s not fun to play as and he looks like an actor that was in a straight to DVD The Crow movie. I actually took a break every other time I had to play as him in the campaign, he just sucks. I want to replay the game but I am not looking forward to playing as him again. Do I get to keep my upgrades between difficulties or do I lose the Nero DT and everything I’ve unlocked if I up the difficulty? I imagine I’d have to start from scratch.

MGS1 on PS1 and MGS3 are some of the greatest games of all time doe.

Funny you say that, people praise MGSV for having amazing gameplay and a ton of options to play the game how you’d like, but it has barely any story and is something fans of the series complained about.

Yet it has a billion hours of cut scenes

You keep all of your upgrades, including Nero’s DT. Honestly, the gets way better on Son of Sparda difficulty IMO.

That is fucking awesome. Imma start up a new playthrough probably right after I finish Sekiro. I’m at the last boss now and hope to take him out tomorrow.

Just a heads up Castlevania: Chronicles is a whopping 2 dollars on PSN right now. It might just be the weirdest CV out there. The music is weird(in a good way) and some of the level/monster designs are just…weird. I like it though. :+1:

I like how different V plays from Dante or Nero. He’s a little more strategic and I like that. Almost feels like a character that would be better played on a fightstick than a controller too what with all the button hold moves he has. And yes Son Of Sparda is definitely where the game picks up, enemies get new attacks too!

I LOVE the OST for Castlevania Chronicles. Great game and possibly the hardest classicvania imo, I’ve still never gotten through Original mode.

BTW, anyone else think it’s weird that Rick Fox is making a big to-do about leaving echo fox, his own company, just because one guy said something racist? Why not just fire that guy and keep it moving? I wonder if the esports thing is really starting to slide and he’s trying to get out while the getting’s good.

Rick Fox isn’t the majority shareholder. Chances are the one making racist remarks has more influence than he does.
