Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

Ok, yeah, story mode for sure. That makes sense. And I honestly like doing the single player stuff in Smash, too. And since that’s a fighting game, I guess I do see how people get into single player.

But ultimately, I enjoy playing other people to get better and shit.

That hasn’t been NRS’s wheelhouse for a hot minute. They’re trying to but people don’t show up for NRS. Games end up dying after a year and a half.

MK11 looks hella promising though.

Yup.

But an arcade mode is always welcome, and considered a standard for good reason…several actually.

It helps to have it packaged properly, though - real endings, midbosses, etc.

VS is and always was the Meat and Potatoes of fighting games, but dammit if having a little something on the side doesn’t make for a better meal.

Nigga, what? MK has had many great games. MK was more popular than SF in the US during the late 90’s. What is this garbage opinion.

Nope.

The majority of the U.S. in the 90s had the garbage opinon.

MK sucks.

Always has.

As a fighting game, at any rate.

As a cultural phenomenon, it was a shameful success.

MK had MK2 and UMK3. MK1 is legitimately trash and so is everything before MK9.

MK9 has a following but that game literally gives player 1 an advantage on trades. The game was also a hot mess for most of its tournament life from NRS overpatching it. MKX was pretty alright but turn into lol 50/50 and lol armor moves in a lot instances.

11 is the one that seems to be trying really hard not to be a hot mess like Inj1, Mk9 and MKX.

UMK3 was the best of a bad lot.

MK2 was Bicycle Kick > _______, the game.

MKII was good but ultimately unbalanced. You either played Jax or Milena or you simply didn’t play.

Even Ed Boon admits how good UMK3 is was a “total accident and not even remotely on purpose” pretty much everyone in that game is bonkers except for Sonya and Sheeva.

4-Armageddon are just…well, those were dark times for MK.

2011 reboot was when they were finally like “hey, we should try to make a good fighter” and they’ve been on a roll ever since.

Then the question becomes is a FG’s ONLY worth its competitive nature? I imagine this thread will go for two days arguing over that one.

Liu Kang was the best in MK2.

FADC. Ultras. X factor. DHC Glitch. Pay to win Gems. no single player modes for SF5, amputee limbs, stupid v system, no chip kills, no invincible uppercuts without EX.

Are Street Fighter/Marvel shitty franchises now?

He was top 3.
It was Jax/Milena (they always traded spots depending on who you ask) then Lui Kang.

SFV sucks.

And MVCI snowballs from its whore mouth.

Your point?

Shaolin Monks is still the best MK game by far.

The late meta had him on top.

If by roll you mean “Free casual money from lol story mode” then yeah.

Literally all of those are still leagues and bounds better games than anything Ed Boon has made. DHC glitch going away hurt a lot of the cast actually.

Also its hilarious to bring up the no invincible uppercuts without EX as a detriment when ti started in 3S. That’s not even an SF5 invention. Hell NRS games that’s the only way you get out of pressure by armoring the balls out of anything by using meter.

Not necessarily, but it wasn’t until Inj2 that their games didn’t stop feeling like shit. Much less be an overwhelming torrent of “I’m in your face harder than season 1 of SF5.”

If you like it, do you. I love some shitty borked games too. Not trying to defend them like they’re up to snuff as legit fighting games.

I Platted PS3 Hokuto no Ken.

It is a shitty Musou.

You really can’t parse the above incorrectly.

Used to own it. Only Musou game I could get into. Had a fuckload of fun. Had to sell it though; didn’t get to fully enjoy the crazy parts of the game where you got to use Raoh, Toki etc.

:sob:

Rei and Toki were the most fun, cliche as that sounds.

Souther was meh, and my main disappointment with it.
