Video Game General 6.4: New Halo? What else?

I dont really care how powerful a console is. Where’s the dev support at?

XB1 literally stayed wack its whole lifecycle. At least the PS3 bounced back at the end. Whats the actual pitch for trusting their next console.

Agree, how many Xbox One exclusives (and I mean real exclusives not just timed exclusives) compared to PlayStation 4 ?

And if the rumor mill is correct and Sony taking Backwards compatibility serious again, pulls off the early PS3 level of backwards compatibility so that the entire PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 libraries are playable on the PS5 is going to be a hard one for MS to get over.

And before anyone mentions XBO backwards compatibility, the Xbone, it is a very limited backwards compatibility where MS had to patch every game to make it work. The bar is already set and it was already set by Sony, they just have to match it (or surpass it) to win here. And PS3’s backwards compatibility is not perfect.

Also with the next gen Xbox is rumored to have a “No DVD drive version” isn’t doing MS any favors.
Yeah they might win at the price point, but they aren’t going to deliver where it counts the most.

If either PS5 or Xbox Next (or whatever it is called) has 1 game that is “must have” for me at launch, I will get either of them. If not, then they’ll both be a pass until there is a must have game on it.

I can agree with that.

We need that ONE game that would get us hooked. For many on the Switch it was Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey.

Next Gen PlayStation and Xbox Needs that new Hot title on launch if they want people go buy.

It’d be dope if they developed a brand new IP for launch.

Ether a brand new IP with the polish that 1st party Sony games are known for or revisit a old IP we haven’t seen in a while. Sony has a few old IP they been sleeping on.

I know Sony been sleeping on Arc of the Lad IP for a while now, and their last title for the PS2 been awful. If they can give it the same treatment they gave the God of War, it could be epic.
I am sure there other old IP Sony can do too.

For Microsoft, they need something brand new, their current batch of IP is getting a bit stale.

Speaking of that, what happened to the Medieval remake? Haven’t heard a thing about it since E3.

I just go where the exclusives I want to play are

Zelda wasn’t a “must buy” for me but I just got a Switch at launch because it was cheap and I wanted one. I nearly canceled my preorder a week before launch because Zelda looked kinda boring to me. The only reason I kept it was because I was flying to Aruba the day after launch and it would be something to do on the flight.

In hindsight I’m happy as shit I didn’t return it because Zelda ended up being a “must play” for me and was fantastic, and I’d say Switch is my most played console right now.

I forgot about that

I wouldn’t be surprised if they have already done it, since they aren’t going to make the same mistake again (presumably) of having another device with it that shares power with, which was Kinect. It was the same problem with the Wii U that it had to share processing power with the Game Pad. Game Pad is awesome however, while Kinect was…well…yeah…

I wouldn’t mind being surprised but MS is probably going to lean hard with western developers, so that’s a no go with me already. I’m guessing bc is still in which is where their exclusives are for me. I do hope they add Gun Valkyrie, Jet Set Radio Future, Otogi 1&2, Crazy Taxi 3 to bc. I’m already close to copping a 1X just for the Treasure, Sega and Tecmo, but still need the aforementioned titles before I do.

OG Xbox has one game I really wanna play: Jade Empire. I’ve heard such good things about it that I’m surprised it hasn’t gotten a real sequel

It’s martial arts mass effect.

In other words

I actually bought an OG Xbox to play SvC Chaos cause for like a good 8 months that was THE game to play at our local arcade. That game was a fucking mess but our play group made it worth it.

Katana Zero is TIGHT. I highly recommend it if you think it looks cool. It’s just as fun and badass as it looks. The game has such style to it.

I doubt we’ll get a sequel to Jade Empire without a group of dumbasses screaming cultural appropriation.

I loved tf outta that broke ass game too. Wish we had gotten an improved sequel from SNK. Chaos was fun, just needed tweaks

Yeah. I unironically love that game so much. I played Iori and Tessa. It’s main issue was the side step dash cancel was extremely unbalanced. Some characters had godlike SSDC’s and some simply didn’t.

The boss characters were kinda busted too. Well, except like…Dan, Mars People and Athena. Everyone else was redonk

Katana ZERO quick impressions.

I really dig the 16-bitish art style of this game. The blood smeared on the walls when you make a kill looks fantastic. Speaking of killing, murder is the business and business is good. There’s nothing like making that quick sword strike to end some poor, unsuspecting sap’s life. Don’t wanna kill with your sword? Use plants to throw at the enemy. Does a certain area have lasers? Switch them on at the right moment to let them do the job for you or push some punk that doesn’t have your quick reflexes into the lasers.

The game has a nice soundtrack as well. Feels super 80s.
