He hasn’t really given a reason to respect that opinion. Just labeling an entire subgenre of games on a blanket terrible is questionable. Even more so when one of the games in that subgenre is literally one of the greatest video games ever made.
Definitely an opinion that needs a paragraph or two to flesh out. there’s a big difference between “I don’t enjoy this genre” and “this genre is terrible.”

Do I need really to? I don’t need to write an essay why I don’t like a certain game or genre. I just don’t like how the play or the overall feel of them. Simple as that. No deep, long winded hidden meaning. I just don’t like them.
You said it was a terrible subgenre. I don’t like MMOs for a number of reasons as well as a bunch of other stuff.
But there’s massive difference between saying I don’t like them and calling them bad.
Also yeah, if you’re going to discuss video games in the video game thread and you have a crazy opinion. giving a well thoughtout paragraph is more or less what you do. Unless you don’t want to write a post people find insightful. Which is fine too.

If the other two are ALttP and FFVI, you are obviously my clone that went horribly astray.
Stu did specify that it was his opinion that they were terrible. He didn’t make the blanket statement that they are terrible. Direct quote:

I mean, shit, FF7 is my favorite FF and it’s probably entirely for emotional reasons. Doesn’t stop other FF games from being way better in a number of ways.
Copout. “I think” therefore I should probably write down my thoughts as to why its terrible. Just saying is terrible leads to 0 insight and even less conversation. Its just the shallow convo that tends to happen with video game stuff.

Yeah I guess if you care that much about why he doesn’t like that genre. I really don’t give a shit though. I fucking love those games so it’s pointless to even debate it. But that doesn’t mean I don’t respect the fact that someone can like or dislike different things than I do.
I’m really liking Charlotte new design. Watching the LI Joe Sam Sho footage as watching scrubs play is painful. I would still like a firm release date for the game.

Cool. And I’m sure there are a plethora of reasons why you feel this way. And like I said, I just don’t like the feel of them or how they play. It doesn’t go much deeper than that.
People take differences of opinions these days as personal attacks. Especially when it comes to something as silly and casual as fandoms. I know my option about Metroid and the genres it helps create are unpopular if not “controversial”. So whatever I do have to say would likely fall on deaf ears anyways or people would try to poke holes in ever sentence I said to try and discredit my opinion and try to make me look stupid for feeling that way. Which is just silly.
Thankfully. I don’t have some long winded essay about why I think they’re bad games. I just don’t like how they feel or they play.

Compared to 2, yes it does look slow. But I’ll need to check it against VSP to be sure.

People shit all over my favorite games, movies and comics all the time. I don’t really care though. I stopped caring about that shit a long time ago.

I tend to give reasons for the things I dont like, if they happen to be popular, and people ask.
It builds understanding, even if we never agree.
For instance: I hate Dark Souls 2.
Soul Level, horribly homogenized human bosses, pop-up book levels of ambushes, and fucking over i-Frames being tops amongst my reasons.
A conversation about why Super Metroid is bad would be far more interesting and entertaining then a conversation about “It’s my opinion leave me alone!”
