Video Game General 3.0 - You know what should come back? Pre-rendered backgrounds!

It’s just that, why would they want it though? They arent playing it now, why would they play it on Xbone? It’s not like those games will get a graphical upgrade or anything.

As much as I dislike Bioshock Infinite, I understand why people would want it. New Vegas as well even though i eventually gave up on it like the buggy hardlocking piece of shit that it was.

Also Amazon makes it so easy to never give GameStop my shekels. Brand new 3DS XL for $120. I bought it for even less than the first time. Thanks Nintendo for cost reducing a great platform with your unnecessary addition of a plastic clitoris on a newer model

Lot’s of people sacrifice their last generation game collections to make the jump to the new systems, and the cross play off X1 to 360 will probably revive some interest to a degree. Plus being able to use the feature set of the X1(streaming, upload studio) is nice bonus, something i was hoping for from the outset.

I don’t see how you can’t see nintendo 64 is nintendo’s worst console.

SNES had a better library and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more variety.

Gamecube had a better library and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more variety.

The Wii had WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better games, and a variety.

Even the Wii U has more variety. I currently have an action adventure beat em up, an RPG, a not fighting game, an actual fighting game, and a platfomer.

2 of those don’t even exist on N64. Even NES has those genres man. The FUCKING NES. Niggas didn’t even know what the fuck a fighter was and they still had it. I don’t know about you guys but the n64 is the only nintendo console i do not regret selling, shit was boring as all hell. I can goo and play an SNES any day and have fun. N64 stops being fun as soon as you beat the games.

For nintendo systems its

SNES
Gamecube
Wii U
Wii
NES
ROB the Robot
The track pad

N64

Virtual boy did exist FYI

Lol at Nintendo, fuck that shit. They made the nes which was great and they made the SNES which was even better. After that it’s all shit. 64 was crap, 5 decent games and that’s it. Some of them even suck dick now (golden eye), GameCube sucked even though it did have some good titles, Wii sucked but also had a few good titles, wiiu is just ass and n64 bad.

Greatest system of all time by far is the ps2. It literally had almost everything. With BC it pretty much did.

n64 would probably be at the top of my list if i ever would have to make one.

Thankfully the GBC/GBA/DS carried me through the drought that was the N64 through Wii era. There’d be a couple neat games for GC but then the GBA would have releases like Golden sun that would carry me through the next potential console release. There was very few games that I was interested in during the Wii generation, though Monster hunter 3 was fucking great, and the DS had a god tier line up that lasted me forever, between the games I bought and who knows how much other games I managed to play via the R4 cartridge.

So yeah Nintendo’s consoles has been lacking in comparison to the PS1/PS2 eras but their handhelds often fill in the gaps for the most part aside from fighters. PSP was great though.

A console so bad it delayed Gunpei Yokoi’s retirement by more than a year. Yokoi didn’t want to make it look like he was leaving the company over how bad the Virtual boy is.
Gunpei Yokoi never intended the Virtual Boy or at least in its current state to get released. it only had what, 16 games total?

I like to imagine the Virtual Boy never happened.

The N64 had a fair collection of fighters, most of them being exclusive to the system. It’s just too bad that they’re all shit.

It makes me wonder what an N64 conversion of Super Turbo would have been like.

I really liked dark rift at the time. I need to find a copy to revisit and see the error of my ways.

Oh! And mace the dark age with pojo the chicken.

Hey if that’s how camp counselor feels then that’s on him/her. I’m not going to be paying attention to them since I’ll be too busy enjoying whatever it is I’m watching. I never saw Frozen but I intend to watch it at some point because I enjoy animation. The closest thing I’ve went to the theaters that would be in the same frame as Frozen would probably be The Princess and the Frog. No fucking regrets. One of the last great 2D films Disney put out and I wasn’t paying any attention to anybody who could have potentially been looking at me since I was busy watching the movie.

LordWilliam can befuddle and puzzle the hell out of me but if it’s one thing I respect him for is that despite all the ragging and razzing we give him he stands by his opinions on stuff and he’s fairly honest even despite the possible backlash it could cause. He doesn’t have a hive mind mentality.

I agree with this wholeheartedly (which is why I said a “mature” game didn’t require blood and guns), but the thing about the best Disney and Pixar movies is that they still deal with mature themes at their core, which is why they impact so many people.

When I say Nintendo hasn’t grown up, I’m not really taking aesthetics. It’s stuff like how the 3DS still has friend codes, how Splatoon doesn’t have voice chat so people won’t feel bad about themselves when they lose, how Smash doesn’t have a real lobby system, the general “everyone’s a winner” approach to multiplayer, how nonsensical barebones stories are still being played in a completely unironic fashion, etc.

They do have an avenue to produce more mature content through Intelligent Systems, Monolith Soft, and Retro Studios, and they all do good work and are thankfully mostly autonomous. But even they can get hamstrung by their parent company sometimes. Like getting rid of the story and partners in Sticker Star, or vetoing Retro’s idea to have Samus actually have bounty-hunting side missions in the Prime series.

Wait, what was that about Sticker Star?

I’ve heard…not so great things about that game, but geez.

From what i understand Miyamoto made them purge a lot of the narrative.

3DS having friend codes doesn’t matter since the only issue with friend codes is the fact that before hand you had to enter them in every time for every game. That was dumb. The 3DS only has to enter friend codes ONCE for the system. It’s essentially the same thing as putting in someone’s Xbox Live tag, PSN, or NNID. The only difference is that instead of it being a specific name it’s random letters and numbers.

I’ve already stated before that the reasoning behind Splatoon not having voice chat was dumb but I could understand why it’s not implemented in random battles with people online since it’s not region locked. Not having voice chat when you’re in a lobby with friends for the latest update though? There’s no reason for it not to have that and makes no sense to me unless having voice chat reeeally actually ruins bandwidth…in which case that could have easily been remedied when they optimize the game around it.

I would have liked a lobby system where you could watch people’s matches in smash if you only wanted to do 1 on 1’s like Street Fighter. Would have been nice. Not a deal breaker though.

I can’t say anything on ‘Everyone’s a winner’ because despite what Nintendo wants…someone has to lose and there’s nothing they can do about that aside from essentially not making any competitive multiplayer games at all. Until they attempt to make a Mario Kart where everyone passes the finish line at first place regardless of how fast they finish then I’m not gonna be concerned.

What’s wrong with something being nonsensical? Not everything needs to have super deep story but like you said yourself Nintendo has both of that stuff. I don’t really need mature story to give me a reason to save Peach just make sure the game is where it needs to be gameplay wise for a platformer and I’m good. When I need something that’s more involved I’ll play one of their games that has that or play that on the other consoles that I own.

Yeah…Miyamoto made a call on Sticker Star. It was not the correct one. No experience, no buddies, and most the story that the Paper Mario series is known for wasn’t there. He dun goofed on that.

Console wars?

What PC gamers see:

True but sad. Especially the PC gamer gif.

You had me up until those two statements.

Gamecube for me was just a $200 Eternal Darkness machine, and maybe a bit of Melee thrown in for a fun party game. Other than that the best stuff were ports or third party shit that could be played elsewhere, with better controllers.

Even most of Nintendo’s key franchises were either a step down in terms of quality, or made really weird decisions with them. Wind Waker & Twilight Princess were a big disappointment, Mario Sunshine was subpar compared to 64, Metroid should’ve perfected a better control scheme or stuck to 2D, and the less said about Star Fox Adventure, the better.

That said, the majority of their key franchises were not bad games per se, just lackluster.

Unlike the Wii, where there is some true flashes of brillance in amongst a vast ocean of pure shit. But the brilliance is tainted by the the absolute worst controller IN HISTORY.
I can understand trying something different but the shit just doesn’t work properly for anything other than bowling and lightgun games.

Tl;dr version: Gamecube was a subpar port machine with disappointing first party games. Wii is an abomination.

One SNES to rule them all.

In my opinion of course, and I’m not gonna try to tell anyone else what to think.

Yo.
