Video Game General 3.0 - You know what should come back? Pre-rendered backgrounds!

Maybe you could save us the trouble po, and get tired of your own shit?

People who grew up playing Nintendo grew up, while Nintendo, for the most part, didn’t. People aren’t going to stop being disappointed with Nintendo until that happens.

And before anyone says anything, no, “growing up” does not mean making a bunch of violent and gritty games with guns.

I loved my N64, but the lack of good fighting games was awful. I tried like every FG that came out and even owned MKT, Dark Rift, and Bio FREAKS. Woof.

What if there was a fighting game but with the rules scrubs come up with? (Inspired by scrubquotes)

Did I miss anything?

On the subject that happened earlier in the the thread. A game that is rated E or E10 does not automatically mean ‘kiddy shit’. That type of logic is flawed and quite honestly dumb as hell. It’s like saying ‘Man just because this game doesn’t have blood or gore in it there’s no way that someone over the age of 15 could be interested in playing this’. That type of thinking is in line with saying you can’t appreciate a Disney film at any age or looking at a game that’s cel-shaded and immediately dismissing it without ever playing it.

Why can’t I like a post more than once.

“Just because a console doesn’t appeal to or get into the hands of the masses doesn’t mean its a bad console. Case: The Sega Dreamcast. A console which at one point Sega couldn’t give away. Games like Soul Calibur, SA2, Panzer Dragoon, MVC2 were on this system including many more. The timing was just bad for the console and sales flopped. The Wii has great games for it, the “hardcore” as they like to be called (kind of Ironic that a “hardcore” gamer wouldn’t play a variety of games) just dont realise it because of their short sightedness of video games. However the Wii doesn’t have good online, isn’t the strongest hardware and the market is flooded with shovelware. Once again any gamer with a mind for good games could easily find a plethora of unique titles not included on any other consoles and that is not including Nintendo’s own brands. In a world were bigger is better people don’t notice lower end games as acceptable. Its all better processor, bigger hard drives, insane resolutions, and insatiable polygon counts. There is a reason fanboys argue over ps3 and xbox360 and which is better because they don’t give a crap about games, all they care about is the horse power of the console without even understanding that games are an artistic media free of inate hardware limitations, almost comparable to people and their cars. Its gotta be fast and loud or its not good.”

about the wii ,but i find it fits the n64 disscussion.
i current own over 48 n64 titles there are more than enough good games on the system.
i love all those games.

The N64 didn’t even need any of those.

It had this masterpiece. B)

Maybe if you would stop making generalized bullshit assumptions like this, which often come off as snobbish or just plain inaccurate, people wouldn’t be finding your posts to be “off-topic”.

But I guess it’s easier to just look for the problems in other people than it is to have some introspective objectivity.

I put the the times for the conferences in the OP.

@“po pimpus”

This explains a lot, unfortunately it still doesn’t explain your furry fetish.

I saved up doing odd jobs with parents being nice enough to help as it’s hard to earn money being 8 lol, I got an N64 before PS1 because 2 of my friends already had PS1. I got my N64 on launch day or close to it and remember taking home Star Fox 64, a whole bunch of my friends came over that kept us glued to the screen all week, even months after that day we’d still play it at my place regularly and were in awe of all the different levels and paths it was such a huge jump forward from the Genesis/SNES days, that was our first taste of 3D gaming, but it wasn’t something people including msyelf were consciously aware of. Contrary to popular belief when PS1/N64 launched people weren’t like “HOLY SHIT 3D GAMES SOOO DIFFERENT THAN 2D!!!” it was more of “cool levels are bigger and there’s more stuff on screen now”.

I also got Super Mario 64, and those were the only two games I had for the first few months, my friends and I spent almost a whole year trying to figure out how to get all the stars on each level took forever.

Other games I spent months on:

Super Smash Bros 64 I had the Nintendo Power issue that revealed this game to the world, it had descriptions of all the special moves which had me so hype, even strategy tips like “sci fi characters beat fantasy characters” lol
Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter I memorized this super long random set of letters and numbers code that gave you access to all weapons and God mode and level warp lol
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil arguably GOAT N64 game
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (story and the setting at the time was memerizing, we hated the water temple and an older friend had to beat it for us lol)
Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (when this game came out there was much much less hype for it than OoT, it seemed like people were burned out by OoT and didn’t care about MM, very few people I know owned it let alone finished)
Goldeneye 007 Golden gun+oddjob…and thus salt was born, this and Smash were THE games to play with friends, if you didn’t own both you had a sad life and didn’t know the joy of promising revenge on your best friend
Mario Kart 64 This was where I honed my glitch finding 1337 gaming skills, even as a kid I found virtualy every short cut, I remember just exploring around cheep cheep beach or Kalimari Desert
Banjo-Kazooie Lets be real this was as much of a blatant rip off of Super Mario 64 as legally possible, except it was such a good rip off it was almost as good as the original, same goes for Banjo-Tooie I actually liked the bosses much better than fighting Bowser all the time in SM64, but the collecting shit was tedious after a while, it didn’t have as much variety as the star goals.
Donkey Kong 64 Level design was top notch, but movement and combat was a bit clunky and sluggish, fun game the layout was brilliant, but for some reason it didn’t really stick with me the way SM64 or Banjo did
Pokemon Stadium pretty much the best part of pokemon minus the single player which I didn’t care too much about, battling friends was so fuckin intense because you really really really didn’t want to lose and using gameboy pokemon was cheating!
Pokemon Snap I think I might have liked it more than Stadium because after you get your score it’s designed to be addictive giving yo uthat “I can do better this time” feeling, and taking it to Blockbuster and printing out your pics was mind blowing
Perfect Dark Basically Goldeneye minus all the shitty stuff, too bad this game didn’t get the recognition it deserved it improved on Goldeneye tenfold
Mario Party AKA salt factory: the game
Diddy Kong Racing a bland ripoff Mario Kart, still fun if you wanted a challenge on levels you aren’t familair with though
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, pretty much X-Wing simulator: The game kind of shitty draw distance, but it introduced dog fighting to my friends who never had a Genesis too bad no multiplayer this game was perfect for it
Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire Tripping an AT-AT wit hthe tow cable was one of the most satisfying things ever I felt like a hardcore gamer lol

And others I’m forgetting but those are the big ones, yeah N64’s library was dwarfed by PS1’s, but N64 had a ton of games that kept me as a kid hooked for months with tons of replayability I do no regret getting it before PS1 at all and I’m not even a Ninty fanboy like Po or LW.

don’t forget pokemon puzzle league i’m still addicted to this game.

I-I don’t have a furry fetish…

TBH right now it feels like the WiiU to home consoles is like the Vita was to handhelds before it basically became the home of animu games.

I mean it’s a great piece of kit but the support is kind of lacking, it took it 2 years to even have enough good games to be worth buying and they seem to be so few and far between.

Splatoon is keeping me sort of busy with it at the moment but I’ve already grinded the gear I want and the game isn’t letting us do something as fucking basic as making a lobby and picking a mode and stage to play until the next update.

Smash is Smash, got the 3DS version for playing with mates in person and because of that the WiiU stays at home.

TBH at this point I’d quite like to see Nintendo raid the Gamecube library some more, release digital versions of some of the games that have become rare as rocket horse shit and do the dual purpose of filling out the library during the dry periods between releases and letting people play some of the best games they missed a couple of gens ago.

But this would actually make Nintendo some money.

And we all know Nintendo is allergic to making money.

I’m still waiting for them to release more digital Wii titles. We’ve only gotten Punch-Out, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime: Trilogy. I’d really like to see them put up Super Paper Mario or Xenoblade Chronicles (though the latter probably won’t happen due to Xenoblade Chronicles 3D).

That said, I would love a digital release of Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine…

There was fighting games on the N64? LOL/.

Po shut up. if you haven’t been living under your Capcom hatting rock you know people been hating on Nintendo since 1996 when the N64 came out.
Nintendo made alot of broken promises at that time. The Crusin’ USA and Killer Instinct 2 arcade games which proudly displayed its powered by Nintendo’s CD based Ultra 64 never happened.
You were made to think the home versions of these games would be as good as the arcades and that never happened.

Fuck Nintendo

You are still going to be picked on being a single adult male watching Frozen in theaters alone.

How does someone buy Star Fox 64 “at or around” the N64 launch?

Perfect Dark was awesome in concept but the frame rate made killed the game. I thought the Zero was going to be awesome without limited hardware, but oh man, lol…

More Wii games aren’t coming to the Wii U via digital. Nintendo moved on, but I still don’t see NX coming out until 2017.

darksakul had an abusive father who made him wear a dress everytime he cried or everytime he played a nintendo game.
