How was Pokemon X/Y? From a scrubby not very interested in competition perspective?
Magic’s good, but I couldn’t really get it to click for me. Yugioh’s always been the TCG I’ve enjoyed the most, even if ones like Magic are more…“solid,” I guess is the word I’m looking for?
At this point, I pretty much only invest in a TCG for the artwork (Yugioh, Pokemon, and the MLP one).
Nah, I understand that. I’m just not really a fan of doubles. And I feel that what I mentioned can only benefit the doubles metagame as well.
But Gamefreak seems fine balancing things the way they have been so I doubt what I mentioned will happen. As such, I’ll probably stay away from multiplayer.

Just as a game? Quite good. Brought in a lot of innovation that we’ve basically wanted for years. Poke-France aka Kalos is pretty damn beautiful too. Only issue is that the Gym Leaders not named Korrina don’t leave much of an impression. Interesting Villain Team though and a downright tragic and quite dark story throughout the game though.
Pokemon Black and White still have the best single-player out of all of them imo.
(Will re-iterate that I haven’t played ORAS yet)

X/Y is actually a great starting point for someone who hasn’t played Pokémon… That game is STUFFED with mons from every gen on every route… You’ll probably be rotating your team constantly because there’s always a new fan-favorite mon popping up.
If you’re looking to get back into it, I’d start there if you’ve been away since Mew was the newest mon, or ORAS if you the last time you played was Ruby/Sapphire.
Synchro summons and the like ruined the game for me, the game stopped being about tons of options with strategy and it because how quickly you can bring out your big monsters out.
I don’t even know about these XYZ monsters. Some times the wording on Yugioh card effects are baffling. Magic to me is much more cut and clear.
I also prefer MTG card art, each illustration starts as a huge oil painting over anime illustrations that probability made in Adobe illustrator or similar program.
I don’t feel like Black & White really answered the questions it posed about the implications of enslaving superpowered animals for use in gladiatorial combat or personal power. It just kind of goes “Team Plasma was wrong because Ghetsis is a dick.” They were trying to go for a deconstruction into a reconstruction, but never actually built the reconstruction part.
Yugioh was always the MvC2 of TCGs, even since the beginning, people just like pretending things were different because they were slower. But even then there were busted effects that completely flipped the game. Only it was worse back then because they were drawn randomly. I’d rather have searchable busted things that you can prepare for.
Though if I had it my way I’d be playing two different TCGs (hint, one of them is my avatar). Well…if I had it my way I’d have less shitty internet and be back on the FG hunt.

I hated X/Y with a passion. Easiest Pokemon game holy fuck. Yeah Pokemon is E for Everyone but that’s no excuse to hold my hand and give me Mega Lucario after the third badge. Mega Evolution is the best thing that came from it, yet they hype it up only to hand it to me on a silver platter. Sure it made Mawile rightfully OP, but ORAS does it better with Mega Lopunny, Mega Gallade, Mega Glalie, Mega Suzumebachi, Mega Altaria, etc.
Hoenn > Johto = Unova = Kanto >>> Sinnoh = Kalos
Kalos is great other than being easy…but Pokemon’s been easy since Gen 4 so meh. They made EXP Share too strong now.
The problem is, there’s no real good way to answer that. You can’t just say “You’re right, this is wrong” because then shit just hits the fan in all the wrong ways.
That sort of question can be saved for the anime or manga (and it has been discussed in the manga, where the people actually do get attacked and killed) because multiple viewpoints can be taken with ease and legitimately discussed. As a character, you can’t take the downtrodden side because then it wouldn’t make sense for you to have Pokemon or to continue playing and thus the game ends.

Anyway…man am I looking forward to and hoping Mother Russia Bleeds comes to the Vita. Or at least the PS3.
