Video Game General 3.0 - You know what should come back? Pre-rendered backgrounds!

@Davidstar gets it.

@Hecatom, how much does ArcSys pay you to slob their knob every time someone (rightfully) questions their greedy decisions?
Must be pretty good money to throw your integrity out the window every time a new BlazBlue: Give Us All Your Money, Baka Gaijin! Edition comes out…

Whoops. My bad.

That $6 still includes his stage though. And solo Smash DLC characters are still only $4, which you ignored.

And @davidstar brings up excellent points too.

Guilty Gear characters come with their own stages too. And your content works on two different systems for no extra charge. So what, Po is screaming over that two dollar difference then?

Try again.

And then that DLC purchase becomes irrelevant as an Extend version (or whatever new iteration) comes out within a year, and includes all of that DLC in one package. So you spend $7 per character and then the new iteration makes that purchase worthless.

Nigga… READ.

Your ArcSys character DLC is probably, maybe gonna be good for six months at best before being rendered obsolete.

The Smash DLC is probably going to be good for several years, like your SFIV DLC*(one of the few thing Capcpom actually did right in regards to DLC)*

I mean, fuck, you were just complaining that these fuckers have made your Extend purchase basically useless.
Don’t come at me because you’re the dumbass that keeps giving these crooks money WHEN YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW THEY OPERATE.

FUCK.

Ehhhhhhh…I wouldn’t call it “right.” Though that’s more towards the fact that the DLC is still new iterations of the game, which makes it a bit more of a forced purchase situation. Compared to Smash, where it’s all just add-ons, you aren’t required to buy it to stay updated with the game as a whole.

I mean, in terms of offering the whole “iterations” thing, it is better than what ArcSys is doing, but still…

The Extended versions came between 2 years after the version that had DLC’s
BBCF looks interesting, it seems that they are remixing the existing characters with new moves and proably new gameplay styles.

@Po, again, you seem to not understand how business works do you?
But hey, keep believing that working on sequels or revisions are scams, if you want to keep being that stupid is your choice.

Wow… You are so lost.

I really thought you were smarter than this… Now wonder @mIRC shits on you constantly.

Now Shup about the stupid shit you all have been talking about and get Hyped for Godzilla

And since when is this a new practice for them? For any new fighter really? I bought Vanilla Chronophantasma knowing full well an Extend was going to release and you should all know this by now too. But you know what the funniest part is? EVERY DLC CHARACTER WAS FREE FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK. How long were ANY Smash characters free? Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Your DLC stays relevant for as long as you enjoy it. Nobody forces you to buy them and nobody forces you to buy the inevitable updated version with all the DLC and extras included. Just like nobody forced me to buy Extend. I personally found value in having two brand new characters, all the DLC ones, old stages from EVERY past Blazblue, all the colors, balance changes and all the extra content consolidated on one disc. So I bought it. Of course however, I didn’t foresee an entire new iteration of the franchise being announced which probably would’ve influenced my desicion to buy it.

All I’m saying is don’t pick and choose what to hate on just because your favorite/least favorite company is doing it. Which is exactly what Po does. Either that, or he’s actually that upset about a 1 or 2 dollar difference in prices. All I see him do is bitch and complain about having to spend seven dollars, but when Nintendo does it for a dollar less that’s a-ok.

Whats wrong with everything above

  1. orochizoolander
  2. Davidstar
  3. The whole Waifu discussion. Seriously having a emotional connection to a character is one thing but a emotional attachment where you want to marry a fictional character is sick. Get a real girlfriend/boyfriend/significant other/ your hand
  4. Paid DLC is the bane of the gaming, the fact Nintendo is doing this garbage for Smash shows you the dire state of the industry
  5. New Yearly editions of the same game with minor roster changes/scene, that includes fighters along with the usually suspects such as FPS and sports titles.
  6. People not getting how story works in gaming. In books, stage, movies, TV its show not tell. In Gaming let the game play drive the story instead of having Press X for the Next Cut Scene.
Spoiler

Also just because fuck Nintendo

MISSION COMPLETE.***

Mission complete: as in we all now know Po is incapable of reading.

Doesn’t make it right.

You’re missing the point. Sure, no one is forcing us to buy the new versions. But the new versions more or less make the old versions obsolete. How many people are still going to be playing the old version after the new one comes out? Online becomes barren, and all you’re left with is the offline content. Even if the latter is more substantial in Blazblue’s case, having new versions all of the time more or less kills off interest in one of the primary modes that people play fighting games for.

If you want to keep competing you’re forced to buy the new version in order to keep up. Which, again, makes all of your previous DLC purchases worthless. Sure, you can argue that to keep up with Smash you’d buy the character DLC…but that’s still just character DLC. You’re not buying an entirely “new” game every year. Plus, even if you don’t buy Smash’s DLC, you can still play people online against those characters to learn how to fight them, or any new balance changes that were made. Want to fight against the new characters in the new Blazblue? Want to use the new version of your character? Better pay again…

Also I don’t believe flagging Davidstar’s post on the previous page is the appropriate response.

I doubt anyone here means Waifu in that context. I don’t, anyway.

Damn troll ass Final Boss in AAI2…

Considering consoles arent ArcSys actusl demo, them not caring about consoles makes sense.

I understand Martians position but at the same time homey knows we aren’t their market. It’s why Po’s arguments dont really work either, it’s not greed, it’s them bringing their console releases up to date for japan.

If you live in America and want to play ASW games then you have to conceed the fact that you are in a mostly ignored market.

Knowing a new Blazblue is on the way did upset me. I brought CP Extend two weeks ago. To be announcing a new game this soon feels so demoralizing. Secondly, I’m mad that there still no new grappler. The character count has reached 30 and Tager is still the only grappler in the game. Come the fuck on Arc! Give his another grab centric character for this series!

Sometimes you are beyond stupid.

I just don’t really understand what some of you guys want I guess. Let’s never add any content to any games or make revised versions or sequels ever. I mean shit, is there even a fighting game out that you guys think has good revision practices? I’m genuinely curious.

Personally, I think games like DoA and Killer Instinct (say what you will about the games themselves, it’s irrelevant) have the best practices when it comes to fighting game DLC. The base game stays FREE, and characters and content come out in waves. You literally only pay for the exact things you want. No content packs, no new versions that require purchase. You get exactly what you want at a fair price. Hell, both games also have a steady release of free content like stages, costumes, and even CHARACTERS all the time.
