I think Nintendo should just go 3rd party. They can’t make it as console manufacturers and clearly are irrelevant to the game world. They should just do a sega and become 3rd party so more then 10 people can start playing their games.
You know, I used to say this (not so much the derpy way in which you said it though) quite a bit. I don’t really think this is their solution. Nintendo should exclusively make handhelds. The world will obviously buy any handheld they make, and laugh off their awful consoles. They built too much bad karma from the Wii. That thing collected dust for EVERYONE I know, hardcore and casual alike. I don’t see more people coming back over to Nintendo unless they change drastically. They don’t want to be burned again with a home console that’s useless if you don’t like Nintendo games.
On the other hand…their handhelds are pretty much a green light to print money. Focus on that and don’t even bother with shitty consoles.
Seriously I don’t know what happened to their games that seem to all have this kiddy image nowadays. New super Mario looks hella disgusting, refusing to make a better metroid than super metroid, new zelda it’s looking ok though.
Back then Nintendo was making the best games nowthey don’t care anymore.
my perspective is skewed because I am playing through the wii catalog on my wiiU and as such didn’t have to experience the timeline of when these games were released. But to me, the wii seems to have a really solid lineup. Granted the amount of shit you have to sift through to find those good games is off putting. I just don’t see how it could “collect dust” if you were actively seeking out the good titles.
Edit: we got sennin and masochist agreeing in a conversation here, head for the hills. A shitstorms a comin!
Well of course it’s going to seem like it had a stellar lineup if you’re only cherry-picking the greatest hits at a time where you have hindsight and all of them are available at the same time. People say their Wiis “collected dust” precisely because they experienced the long drought periods between great titles being released for the system. The Wii got out all of its killer apps early in the system’s lifecycle, and the last two or three years especially were absolutely barren in terms of quality releases. I believe only Xenoblade came out during that time, and you know just how hard that game was to find.
