Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

Highly doubt they’d give up on it after one installment though. Let it rest for a while and then bring it back while telling everyone you fixed the shit people hated about the first one. Then release it with all of the same shit people hated about it still in the new game anyway. Genius.

Which SW game are you talking about? The more research I do on Visceral Games next game the deeper the rabbit hole goes. Let’s review the facts:

First Amy Hennig the writer/director of the Uncharted trilogy leaves Naughty Dog in April to join Visceral games and be creative director on their unannounced SW game.

And then a few days ago a credible insider says Visceral Games are working on Battlefield S.W.A.T.:

So either Amy Hennig is lying or the BF insider is wrong, she flat out said she was hired by EA specifically for the SW game so my money is on the Visceral developed BF rumor as false. You have nothing to worry about because the DS franchise never sold nearly enough to warrant more than one developer to work on it like CoD, EA has no financial or artistic incentive to ever let alone besides Visceral work on the main line series.

Why would you want a Visceral made SW with Hennig assist to crash and burn? That sounds like a winning formula to me, especially since Star Wars 1313 was canceled and Disney didn’t renew the trademark and the footage we did se of it looked exactly like an Uncharted or Dead Space except with the SW skin…so how can you not root for Visceral’s version of a Boba Fett story?

Also EA Canada is developing an open world SW RPG…could it be what Amy Hennig is working on? I guess we’ll get our answer at E3

Jak n Daxter was AMAZING

Jak 2 was the game that was…interesting

Jack 3 was the middle point. And it had mad glitches to exploit the cheating ai.

NINJA EDIT: Actually if we are doing platforming tiers

Ratchet n Clank
Sly Cooper
Jack n Daxter
Crash
Spyro

Jak and Daxter was a better series. At least it went out while it was still good. Crash went to shit after the first PS2 game.

Yea for me it was
J&D
Sly
Crash
Ratchet
Spyro

Not a big fan of R&C. I played the first 3 and they where good but the platforming became less and less a focus with each one, I’m not as big on dry humor, and grinding bolts for guns…eh.

I only ever played Spyro 1 that’s why it ranks lower when I rate the franchises. It could easily move up the ranks if I ever get around to playing more of them.

Also of Note I’ve only played the first 3 Crash games, and the Kart Racer, I have no idea what the Crash games are like after ND stopped making them, but i generally hear not good things.

Daaaaamn, how you gonna violate Spyro like that? :shake:

I really wanted that Star Wars Darth Maul game to be made.

Spyro been getting violated since Insomniac stop making the games. It’s even worse now since Skylanders blow up. He’s a background character in his own series now.

Jak 2 is one of the best 3D platformers ever. I loved how ND had the balls to take a super linear game and turn it into an open world/hub hybrid game, I’ve always felt Crackdown and maybe even GTA was inspired by Jak 2. The weapons, exploration, level design, combat, and everything else just clicked together and felt like a 90’s side scroller perfectly translated to 3D.

As much as I love the other series mentioned Jak 2 is a cut above IMO.

Heavenly Sword is only “pretty shit” now. As a launch title Heavely Sword was pretty good so cut the crap.

The only real gripe was the game ran at 30fps

Yea I fuckin love Jak 2. Such a good game.

Jak two is by far the worst game in the series. I think you need to replay that game just to enjoy how obnoxious and cheating the ai was. Coming off of Jak 1, it wasnt the best move into the future.

Off the top of the head:

-Wayyyy too many racing/driving missions with clunky unresponsive controls
-Open world map that forces you to use the aformentioned controls to navigate from spot to spot
-More emphasis on guns and shooting
-Reverse controls on turret missions
-Shitload of escort/protect/robot missions
-buggy collision detection on platforms and grind rails

And in general the ai is just really obnoxious. Not to mention there are no stage checkpoints so if you die at the end you get to start all the way over.

Playing Jak 2 doesnt make me miss the era of unforgiving games because this game was just too much BS and not enough actually skill requirement.

Devil May Cry is perfect old school difficulty but rewarding for good players.

Jak 2 definitely had some serious problems.
Jak 3 is the best since it did what Jak 2 was trying to do better.

Played through the Jak series earlier this year when I bought the HD collection. Jak II was the best one. Yea it cheated a bit but driving the vehicles is consistent they are just floaty, with practice they are really easy. The A.I. cheats some yea, but it’s the only game in the series with actual difficulty (It; spikes which is a bit obnoxious but I could deal with it). J&D is great but too Banjo/Mario in its collect-a-thon set up for Power Cells, and Jak III is super inconsistent in quality, with the Wasteland living up to it’s name hardcore. A big empty ass waste land full of nothing. No stage checkpoints is no big deal as none of the stages are more then 20 minutes long.

There’s skill involved to, I could beat that game without dieing back in the day, it’s just a tough platformer, which is a lot of what makes it good as most platformers are pretty easy.

Yeah its weird because back when I was 14 on SRK I would read you guys saying how you never died and could S rank games that were kicking my ass…but now I’m 26 and I am significantly better and more knowledgeable about games than I was at 14, and you just kinda moot all of that by saying Jak 2 was a cakewalk and you could beat it without dying?

BULL SHIT. Bull shit, my friend. That game wasnt “hard” because the Ai was cheap but it was challenging and it was by no means easy.

Come on now.

I didn’t say it was easy, in fact i believe I said it was hard, I’m pretty sure I listed that as one of the reasons I liked it. It being hard was a positive point for me platformers tend to be fucking easy as hell. Jak II was an exception and kind of still is to this day.

And yea dude back then I was playing all day every day I could beat Jak II without dieing, I played through that game a TON of times. How do you think I could S Rank DMC1/3? I played the shit out of them. I had like 1,000 hours into DMC3 or some shit back when it came out. Jak II isn’t THAT hard, there’s tons of much much harder games then Jak II. Back when I played it again a couple months ago it kicked my ass, I don’t play anywhere as much as I used to, and I haven’t played that particular game in years so I don’t remember all the tricks an shit to minimize bad situations.

Well S Ranking DMC when we are all fighting game players is a cake walk. A poorly programmed game with cheating AI is a different story.

But I see what youre saying.

Only thing I remember about Jak II was struggling on that one level where you had to escape the docks or some shit.

Jak II didn’t do much for me, I checked out early on it. Loved the first game and Jak III was alrght. Hell Jak X or whatever was alright.

Prefer Sly and Spyro for Sony platforming goodness.
