Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

i’m not really interested in having this conversation but alright. I regret using the word sycophant i’m just typing words I knew it wasn’t the right one. What would be the emotional state of this individual then? There was a sentence that caught my attention when he said “I always wanted to die in a violent death/deed, this is the time of Vengeance” it’s a sign they have gone soft on this subject, it could be another retired ex-marine,military or police man looking for vengeance, nothing new.

  1. Besides myself,
  2. To protect their families/loved ones/country, adventure, opportunity, see the world and I didn’t have money for college.

In this day of age trying to say that violent games causes violent crime is like saying a violent crime as occurred because the criminal wore socks.
Also studies show that there is a correlation between a drop in crime and video games, that the crime rate been dropping as more and more video games become prevalent

Showed the trailer to my friend at an apple store last night who has no interest or knowledge of video games besides Tetris and Lumines and he said it’s not a big deal he’s seen much worse in other games.

He’s right.
Gears of war has more brutal executions than Hatred.

But it has an objective so it’s ok!!!

I have a friend who only bought Gears cuz you could chainsaw people to death. I remember back in middle school when I bought GTAIII another friend of mine spent 4 fucking hours just running around beating people to death with a baseball bat, he never did a single mission.

Context only matters to people who care about it. Hell in games like Bayonetta, MGR, and DMC the context matters at best the first few times, after that it’s “Lets see how long a combo I can pull off on this guy” I no longer care about the context, simply about netting out as much pain over a long period of time as stylishly as possible. The context no longer matters.

So everyones panties in a twist over a game that just GTA 1 minus all the missions and slightly better graphics than a pixlated PS1 game.

Really? What about Carmageddon or Road Rash, Mortal Kombat, Twisted Metal?

Seriously this is about as harmful to the public as letting 2 kids play swords with foam nerf swords until mommy calls them in for dinner.
I think I seen little girls tea parties that causes more trouble to society. Who the fuck cares, let people pretend to be a psycho murder.
We got how many sequels to the Saw Movie, like 9 now? How many people copied the movie in real like maybe 10, and they are already sick in the head in the first place.

Violent media do not make people violent.

Look Hatered shouldn’t be the game that gets society flustered, its how the Kardashians is in the top ten for Android and iOS.
Look this is as ridiculous as blaming Barbie for girls having a terrible self image, it isn’t a plastic doll that ruined a little girl’s self image its hearing Mommy calling herself fat and or ugly constantly.
How many men think they are inadequate because they are not as built as fucking He-man, like 100 out of billions of people. But then again most fathers don’t worry how big there butt looks in their jeans.

Society needs to look it self in the mirror and realize that we as a people, as a species need to grow the fuck up and stop placing blames on easy to attack scapegoats and start looking at the real reasons people go fucking-ape-shit and go postal on a group of people.

lets not forget Manhunt 1 & 2

No lies I do my killing if it has a purpose. On a semi related note, Can’t get into GTA. I understand the reasoning for Hatred and the controversy it will bring but that’s only because of how the uninformed will react.

What people need to do is educate themselves rather than censor and hide from information.

Well people have always been intersted in the macabre which is why we have horror across all types of media. This game is just akin to a Halloween game where you play as Michael Myers instead of running from him. I feel as though it’s being blown out of proportion just because it’s a game and games are the devil. Meanwhile, the same people will line up for the next Saw film to see the new deathly traps that Jigsaw comes up with.

Screw Manhunt, that game shouldn’t even register on the meter.
Watching the game play video now, that shit looks really cartoonist.

At the age of 8, I seen worst watching Mad Max and Robocop.

But that not even the point, Hatered is about as effective as a cause of violent crime as watching Snow White and the Seven dwarves make me want to mine for gems (that what Minecraft is for).

Personal opinion? The flamethrower execution in GOW3. It made me cringe a little bit the first time I seen it, but afterwards it became a point of comic relief with my friends every time somebody did it. Whoever did it had to yell “DRAGOOOOOOOON!” whenever they did it. Also the direct impact kill with a Digger. Eats through their chest like a chest burster in reverse and then detonates. Shit was gnarly.

I apologize for the long windedness and inconsistency in post earlier as well. I hadnt slept for the better part of two days and I just recently caught up on sleep. I’m not going to dredge it up though because it seems like we all have already voiced our opinions on the matter and anything else would just be talking in circles at that point. I’m also sure you guys want to talk about Final Fantasy relatively soon as well.

[details=Spoiler]As I previously stated, the “enemy” in most army shooters are portrayed as outright evil. They have goals that threaten the peace or safety of the side you’re fighting for. This is maybe something you should apply to real-world wars, but not to a video game in which the other side’s goals are designed to be the justification for killing them. On top of that, they’re SOLDIERS. They know what’s on the line. It’s kill or be killed. They’re not walking out of their homes to pick up mail and being shot in the face by a random psychopath. They’re stepping onto a battlefield armed and ready to place their lives on the line in an attempt to eradicate the opposing force.

We know they’re not real… That’s not the issue. The issues are the implications and message. The game is in bad taste… Period. If there was a game in which you reenacted 9/11 by flying planes into buildings, would you say “it’s not real, they’re just pixels”? What about one where you went around murdering kids and babies? They’re just pixels, right? What I’m trying to say is, making light of situations like these, no matter what the medium is, is never a good idea.

No, at the end of the day, it’s never the developers fault. However, they’re responsible for the message they’re sending. This game is a BAD IDEA. I’d be surprised if it saw a US release.[/details]

This is a really late response… I’ve been busy all day, so everything I would’ve said has escaped my mind. This is what I have left at the moment lol.

That card is banned

Hey, I’m from the age where it wasn’t even limited… I could use this one if it makes you feel better:

Alright, lets go. I’m taking over this game:

get rekt

Yo if you guys got a 3ds, don’t forget the new Shantae game drops this week. I actually bought the Game Boy Color one yesterday with some eshop credit I had. Looking forward to starting this series

That Legend of Korra game is dropping as well.

DOes the PC version drop this week also?

Mad World is another brutal one. Love that game, lol!

IMO the violence in MK, Gears, GOW, etc is so cartoonish & over-the-top you can’t help but tell you’re playing a video game. Going into slo-mo as they often do just makes it even more obvious.

TBH games with more subtle, realistic deaths affect me way more than those with physics culled from comic books.

Spoiler

LOL I’m aware of the irony that they vid is in slo-mo

EDIT: Now that I come back to it, I guess what I was describing was summit of the uncanny valley.
