Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

COD, Assassin’s Creed, Guitar Hero, sports, etc are all annual sequels. The guy specified they’d still make a new sequel every 3-5 years, with spin-offs or some such in between.

Pretty much like a decade ago when Mega Man spin-offs were all the rage.

Guitar Hero was killed off due to being annual…

It’s kind of ironic that the poster boy for annual releases in CoD is actually the most fringe of all of them due to the developers actually taking 2 years (now 3 I believe with Sledge’s entry) between titles. Truth be told, if you HAD to go annual that would be the better way to go about it.

It’s the Windows OS shit-sandwich model.

EDIT: In COD’s case I guess it’s stacked more like a double shitburger.

Has it not descended into a shit tier video game series since around when brotherhood/revelations came out? They dont even know what the fuck they are doing anymore and killed off the main character in their own confusion. Now they pump them out on a yearly basis because fuckers eat that shit up like Modern Warfare era COD. Shit dude, they are trying to sell us TWO different games under the same name at the same time. The fact that they can whip up two of them at the same time demonstrates how little effort is needed to craft an Ass Creed game. Shit one of them is actually just the AC3 sand box, copypasta’d into higher resolution.

They’ve never even been stealth games. They have been mediocre action at best. That Burger King game called Sneak King is more stealth oriented than all of the Ass Creed games combined. I remember beating the first one and being confused as fuck trying to figure out the writings on the walls at the end. Still being confused in the trilogy of Ezio games feeling like this would be some kind of conspiracy theory plot leading up to the end of the world in 2012, made even creepier by how it wasnt 2012 yet. And then AC3 happened.

You’ll very rarely get such an opinionated stance from me on a video game, but jesus christ I hate what that series has become. I was looking forward to a conclusion that never happened.

thats only if it continue the main series of games. These are supposed to be spinoffs, side stories. That format could work if you get a new creative team doing their own take on resident evil. They don’t have to follow the gameplay mechanics of the main series or the game preceding it. It doesn’t even have to be survival horror to be honest, it can be other interesting side stories. As long as the right people are working on it and doing it as a small labor of love, i don’t see how it could be a bad idea. I mean yea, some may be bad, but you can also find a lot of gold with this idea too.

It could work…

But so far history is against them.

I think RE is already dead

Unless you think RE5 put them in a bad place and RE6 killed them…nah.

It’s on thin ice though due to RE6 nonetheless. Next RE needs to be strong or the stigma will become too much to deal with.

LOL @ anyone who still has faith in Capcom to do anything but fall flat on their faces…

Annualization happens because people willingly accept it. Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero happened because people kept buying those games every year until they experienced burn-out and decided it wasn’t worth it anymore.

CoD and AC will keep getting yearly releases as long as it keeps a massive audience. RE being annual can only work if it does the same, or else it’s gonna be a failure regardless of rapid releases.

The only good thing about such a move is an iterative game development process, learning quickly what works and what doesn’t. It’s shitty to think you could end-up unknowingly getting a $60 beta, but any gaming enthusiast could avoid it through reviews and playthroughs.

But every annualized franchise biggest problem is outdoing themselves. Every gamer is going to ask “Why should I touch this year’s title when last year’s release was much better?”, and developers/publishers are going to have a harder time exceeding expectations each good game has set before.

Yeah this is pretty much what killed COD for me. Every game was compared to MW1 and 2. Black Ops 2 came really close. All the others didnt hit the standard for me and effectively drove me off of the series. I dont even consider buying them anymore. I just know I dont want it now.

Agreed. It’s not like all the Gun Survivor, Outbreak, and Chronicles lightgun games never existed.

Watch Capcpom go & prove me wrong with a lineup of Rev 2, RE7, ORC2, Mercs 4D, Rev 3, RE8 ad infinium lol

Yearly RE won’t work because they’ll be foolish enough to believe they’ll get CoD sales. The market isn’t what it once was for and RE game…especially after what happend with RE6…Revelations can save the series…

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 16th, Gliwice, Poland

Destructive Creations is an experienced, indie team that, in times where a lot of games are heading to be polite, colorful, politically correct and trying to be some kind of higher art, rather than just an entertainment, wanted to create something against trends. Something different, something that could give the player a pure gaming pleasure. This is how the idea of Hatred – the team’s first game, was born.

Watch the announcement gameplay trailer HERE.

My name is not important. What is important is what I’m going to do. I just fu*kin’ hate this world. And the human worms feasting on its corpus. My whole life is just cold, bitter hatred. And I always wanted to die violently. This is the time of vengeance and no life is worth saving. And I will put in the grave as many as I can. It’s time for me to kill. And it’s time for me to die. My genocide crusade begins here.

Hatred is an isometric shooter with a disturbing atmosphere of masskilling, where player takes the role of a cold blood Antagonist, who is filled with hate against humanity. It’s a horror, but here YOU are the villain. Wander the outskirts of New York State, seek for victims on seven free-roam levels. Fight against law enforcement and take a journey into the Antagonist’s hateful mind. Gather equipment of the dead ‘human shields’, to spread armageddon in the society. Destroy everything on your way of hunt and fight back when it’s disturbed…

The game is planned to be released in Q2 2015 on PC. More information about Hatred can be found on the official website: http://destructivecreations.pl and Facebook profile.

All the assets including gameplay trailer, screenshots, key art, concept arts and fact sheet can be found HERE.

If you have any questions regarding the game or would like to arrange an interview with the dev team please get in touch with Agnieszka Szostak at agnieszka.szostak@pr-outreach.com or call +48 881 951 601.

This is their press release, that bolded line is all kinds of disturbing if this is what some think of as a pure gaming pleasure. I really hope this is all just some experiment or something.

They just know humans are fucked up and enjoy doing fucked up things.
Won’t play the game myself because It doesn’t look that fun to me.

There’s gonna be a shitstorm for that game. You literally play a video game version of the Columbine dudes(I know there is actually a game for that event), Elliot Roder, and etc. This ain’t the same as attacking people like Rampage when you’re a monster wrecking havoc lol. Yikes!
