meh. Japan doesn’t pay attention to the opinions of filthy western gaijins anyway. Let Anita, the feminists, SJWs, Polygon bloggers and whoever else bitch all they want about sexuality. As if Kamiya cares.
Konami approved Quiet’s design in MGS5.
Koei has Team Ninja.
Namco/Harada is making some VR game where you creep on a schoolgirl.
If Darkstalkers 4 ever happens believe Morrigan’s tits gonna be featured front and center in the promo art.
Even Nintendo puts tits in their games. See: Great Fairy in Zelda.
And lets not forget the thousands of Doujin and Hentai games that are made every year.
Stop bringing up that stupid useless ho and get back to pointing and laughing at shit-ass Ubisoft and their Tameem-esque*** “the FEEL of 60fps”***…
LOL at these stinky, big nosed, baguette-eating, America-hating bitches constantly ducking the question… I’m surprised they haven’t surrendered yet.
Yes, I made a tired joke about the French, and I don’t give a damn. Fuck France. Fuck Ubisoft. Fuck that dumb broad, and, of course, those other TWO WORDS that gets everyone’s panties in a bunch.
Even disregarding Japanese games, I don’t feel threatened by this SJW movement. Much like with pretty much every form of media, there’ll still always be a market for games with sex appeal. Said games might be critically panned and not win GDC/BAFTA/whatever awards, but their creators will at least get what really counts: my money.
C’mon guys, Sonichuman linked to a GAF thread with all the important parts copy/pasta’d for you. Please at least read the quotes before reacting to Polygon’s clickbait headline
I’m sure remasters & up-ports are part of their annual plan (it’s Capcom lol). And even if they aren’t, even the worst spin-offs they had thus far (probably the Gun Survivors) haven’t really tarnished the IP any more than something like RE6 has.
As long as whatever they’re planning doesn’t play too similarly to the mainline games and/or gets outsourced to some crappy studio (Raccoon Shitty), I don’t think they’re in much danger of series fatigue.
My concern is that Capcom will turn itself into the RE company. Look at Konami. Metal Gear and the occasional Castlevania is all we get out of them now. Ono’s recent statement about Capcom possibly not making sequels to games that sell less than 2 million I fear that will end up happening. Annual REs could end up cannibalizing games that were developed to be their own thing.
All the big Japanese publishers of yesteryear are consolidating their console output, Capcom was just one of the last holdouts. I would’ve liked to see Dogma 2 before that happened, but oh well.
Financially speaking it’s a very smart strategy since RE6 sold like 6 million give or take clearly that means Capcom can shit out at least a few more entries and no matter how buggy, rushed, lazy, and overall pieces of flaming shit they may be they will sell well off the RE name alone. By the time gamers stop buying RE games the executives will have made enough money to retire or move to another company with a fat bank account and Capcom’s problems will be the responsibilities of whoever takes their places.
Countless higher ups do this all the time in every industry, abandoning ship every few months/years while collecting dem bucks, usually these companies especially in the financial sector basically say “hmmm you ruined the last 10 companies you were president of…welp enjoy being our new CEO!”
Capcom just needs to make an exclusive Mercenaries RE that follows the formula of RE 4/5 Mercenaries. Add a ton of iconic characters, enemies, maps, weapons, easter eggs, etc. I know they have this game on the 3DS but it needs to be on a grander scale.
Anualization of Resident evil is honestly not that bad. Its not like its a bunch of multiplayer games. If they are able to make some cool stories and stuff, release them at under a full price game (lets say 30$), then I say go for it. Honestly you guys are over reacting to it. Anuallization doesn’t automatically mean bad.
Not taking a side here, just wondering if we have any examples of an annualized game product that benefited from it? I don’t play Madden so I have no clue (Goes for sports games in general) and I remember when KOF was annual and I’d say that was a real hit or miss kinda thing for that franchise. I would say annualizing has really hurt the AC series in a big way.
Just trying to think of a franchise that comes out annually that benefits from that format.
Personally I tend to think a franchise does better when it has time to sleep, but that is just my viewpoint.
