I’ve only heard amazing things from people that have managed to get their hands on the game basically saying it’s like the original game (which is already universally acclaimed) but better in every way. Considering that and that it also comes included with an updated version of the original game it’s definitely looking like a front runner for potentially being the best game of the year in my opinion.
It only sold 38.828 in japan on launch…which apparently was twice as much as W101’s lifetime sells there. I know Japan has been moving away from consoles but fuck.
Both Platinum and Nintendo deserve way more than that for putting together these two gems.
Ah well, gotta enjoy the Platinum train for as long as it lasts. I hate bringing up sells but it sucks ass potentially losing or seeing less of an awesome ass dev.
Edge is a shitty Euro game mag. You should care because they got a Bayo 2 review with a perfect score a month before release. Just screams of Nintendo paying for good review scores.
Eh…don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand, it would get people to stop overlooking it since…you know, it’s the fucking actual sequel to KH2.
On the other hand, idk if I feel the game is expansive enough to get a remaster on its own and not added to a ReMix package. If they doled it out on a reduced price I’d be behind it.
And Phantom, finish the fucking game. The end of the game is legit. At the same time, Nomura found a way to make the plot 20x more confusing, which considering it’s KH is actually an accomplishment.
They aren’t going away, Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 were funded by Nintendo so it doesn’t hurt Platinum too bad if they don’t sell as it’s not money out of their pocket (they could take a reputation hit for lacklustre sales, but make up for it by having their games generally being considered to be gems), same deal with Microsoft funding Scalebound.
They’re working on the Korra downloadable game which will likely sell well and Hideo Kojima has expressed enthusiasm in wanting to work with Platinum on a Metal Gear Rising sequel after how they managed to save it from development hell and have it turn out very successfully despite having less than 2 years to make the game almost completely from scratch.
Honestly despite the rocky nature of their commercial success, they’ve managed to get into a pretty good position right now where they can still make the games that they want to make, they’re on very good terms with a lot of big names/companies and they have an extremely good track record. The combination of all of the above means they remain financially stable/profitable and that not only can they continue to live as a company into the future but they’re actually making more games now than they ever have before,
On the brightside, with the addition of Sledgehammer this gives Treyarch, the actual decent developer of CoD, three years to do their thing. You know, an actual reasonable development time. Yeah I know, it’s been a while.
I’ll probably be skipping the game again this time around, I did with Ghosts. Black Ops 2 was surprisingly good. I was kinda depressed for getting talked into buying it (1 was shit), but I ended up playing a lot more than I intended to. For some reason I like only being able to pick a certain amount of things on your loadout. I almost never bothered with a secondary weapon, just took someone else’s if need be.
