that’s kinda marginalizing, isn’t it? because i don’t care about whatever you seem to think “journalism” is means that i have 0 credibility? lol.
i can post a lot more specifically than anyone else in this thread but because i read kotaku means i’m on some extreme side of the spectrum? what a amazing black and white view of the world.
i don’t have the time to write right now, maybe later. but basically, this is gamers kony2012. shit like this has been happening forever and if you’re going to be upset now that its uncovered (for the Nth amount of time in Nth amount of years), and your only recourse is to be very very upset? maintaining an agenda over a lasting amount of time without a clear course of action to make a change just means you’ll get waited out. i’d be willing to bet in 3 months i could post a kotaku article and not get shit here about it.
there is no end game. its butt hurt gamers learning that their industry isn’t squeaky clean. welcome to the world. i’ve seen problems like this happening since printed medium was involved with “conflict of interest” issues. forgive me for not raging with you.
but social activism has the lasting effect of trying to stop an ant infestation with a flyswatter. if the solution to this problem was easy, there would be a better reaction than being really, really upset on twitter and forums.
if that post doesn’t make sense to you then welcome to the clusterfuck that is gamergate: sexism, media ethics, anti-feminism, left wing propaganda-ist, conflict of interest, and misplaced rage from all sides.
What about when a kotaku writer gets hired at capcom, apologizes for dmc, blacklists tameem, promotes gamergate, releases MvC4 with megaman x, it sells so much that capcom buys disney and marvel, and then they make a marvel vs capcom universe movie where all of the profits go to cancer, but 1% goes to Anita Sarkeesian’s bank account?
Kotaku is universally accepted as a shit website of no worth. You can disagree with a lot of my opinions, but this is a fact.
I might just have to make my first post of each page be a reminder to people of just how shitty and worthless Kotaku is, so the next time someone even THINKS of posting a Kotaku link, they know what kind of hell is coming their way.
I feel a real issue Games Journalists could cover is something about the 3 using cheap labor and shit working conditions to assemble to the consoles, that get sold at as ridiculous mark up.
You’d probably also stop using virtually every modern electronic device on the market too.
EDIT: Covering worker’s rights & what not would actually be what I’d consider journalism. Reviewing products & holding PR-laden interviews are typical of an enthusiast press. Both serve their purpose, but I think it’s a great disservice to the former to even think the latter is ultimately important enough that it be held to the same standards.
i like how passive my mention of kotaku seems to preside over whatever i’m saying. it’s pretty amazing how one tracked people can be. i mean, i basically called out po and told him he doesn’t know shit, and then i mention kotaku passively and that is the only response…
i’m just here to argue now. i’m pretty sure i could win this one if anyone bothered to actual read anything i wrote instead of raging out at a mention of kotaku.
Nigga hush. You proved how “worthless and inconsequential” your opinions were the minute you dismissed #GamerGate, proving how little you actually know about why people are pissed at your precious Kotaku and their ilk.
Despite our differences on things, @orochizoolander, @crotchpuncha, and most anyone else in this thread will get measured responses and discussion from me, because they’ve proven to be intelligent posters with more to say than “You’re wrong, you big poopyhead”.
You are the one who doesn’t “know shit”. I am well aware of how budgets work, and where and why companies choose to allocate funds. It still doesn’t change the fact that a game like Destiny having an ad budget that dwarfs its development cost sends the message TO ME, PO PIMPUS that they aren’t confident enough in the game’s actual merits to allow it to speak for itself and sell based on its strength as a game.
That is the last time I will respond to your arguments… You say you’re here for a fight, and from here on out, I treat you like I treat Capcom executives.
Nothing crawled in my ass dude. It’s just annoying as fuck to watch my phone battery drain because fuckers are too lazy to delete a 30 character link from their quote. I yell at people for this in every thread unless a reply to a post makes no sense without quoting the image for context. That exception is very rare. I specifically stay out of the lounge mobile because people cant wrap their heads around this, even though it’s actually against the rules of the forum in the first place.
