Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

In related news SE has also announced that every copy of FFXV will be bundled with one of these to help players enjoy a more fulfilling gameplay experience.

It’ll be designed to resemble a chocobo of course.

Wtf? Who is that guy and why did Nomura leave his scrub ass in charge?

i’ve played and finished FF type-0 , so i’m not worried at all.

hasn’t thre been play it for you options in FF since snes era?

they aren’t the same budgets. each division of your company gets a budget. it isn’t one single pool. that would be shitty if you used up all your money for the game and didn’t advertise it. it would be horrible if you put all your money into advertising and didn’t have enough to finish your game. the idea of pooling money hasn’t ever been the case since they invented budgeting.

but advertising is usually paid by your publisher, and not developer. developers get comped via contract by the publisher and get paid by hitting landmarks dates and such. the budget for game development is set very early on, so its not like a commercial done over a year and a half after the game has been in development means anything. it wouldn’t go to the developer. it would stay in the publishers pocket. i’m sure microsoft doesn’t really give a fuck either way.

so why live action? because of what crotchpuncha said partially, but also because if you are basing marketing off of a game that is in development, how much good usable footage are you expecting to get? is your game set up to show its selling points via gameplay? is your game rigged and setup to speak to the point that will sell your game (fully controllable cameras in game, character rigs that emote the way you need them to, a capable game architect that is willing to work with marketing to get all these things instead of developing)? will you have to outsource extra resources to render scenes? will you have to blah blah blah… too much work to get good in-game scenes unless they are pre-scripted and designed filmatically.

there’s a reason why sony will do an all ingame commercial about the last of us, but will do live action commercials for infamous… both are amazing looking games, but infamous probably wasn’t setup with the control to actually look amazing in game over a period of 30-60 seconds.

and marketing usually is never involved until the final 3rd or last quarter of the game anyways, and they never know what they are really trying to sell until late in the game. its much easier to get a concept idea, and get actors to portray the gist of the game is definitely much cheaper.

while destiny probably took a ton of money, the sunset overdrive commercial i bet was relatively cheap… maybe under $100k. prebuilt sets like that are pretty common, i’m sure the costumes were pricey but not that much, and paying stand ins and handing out sag cards probably kept it low. destiny’s costs were probably more invested in the travel than anything else. but i bet you that commercial earned them hundreds to thousands fold in returns (it was really good). activision don’t give a fuck either. these guys sell call of duty with dozens of b-listers every year.

for someone who is imploring people to read up on stupid inconsequential shit like “#gamersgate”, you do a ton of talking out of your ass.

I also want to add to that that things like E3 and trying to get enough of a game ready to demo/show before its ready severely screws over the production timeline. E3 alone was nearly the sole reason Bioshock infinite got so many delays and was so lackluster, look at where it got the studio too, completely defunct.

Can you properly explain , for everyone to see , why you think #GamerGate is stupid ?..
I would love to see what makes you think the way you do , being a shitaku regular and all.

Usually i would say something simple like “this bitch should STFU cuz 0 credibility because he supports corrupt journalism” etc etc…
But now i am just really , humbly , curious… Explain to me why #GamerGate is stupid.

edit : ofcourse lord raptor would like your post facepalm

Just a glimpse of gameplay here

To be fair that live action Smash bros commercial is actually pretty accurate to the game.

It was memorable because of that. Definitely a mostly live action commercial done right.

was looking for the Lylat Wars UK commercial which was really well done, and found this australian one instead lolz

My favourite video game tv commercials are still the Segata Sanshiro ads in Japan advertising the Sega Saturn.
They were extremely over the top, had good half/half mix of live-action/in-game footage, it was such a successful marketing campaign it salvaged the system from failure in Japan, got it’s own song (as well as even getting it’s own game) and has a dude getting judo flipped so hard he explodes.

About the new “ffxv” news. Look in the final fantasy thread. What’d I tell y’all niggas? That Tabata dude is the same dude who directed The 3rd Birthday. Think on that for a bit.

Also, those old school live action commercials were the shit, stfu pimpus.

That SMB commercial sold me. Just the thought of my favorite Nintendo characters fight each other sold me. On the other hand. SFxT was just creepy. Seeing Ryu and Kazuya around real world people is just wrong.

that was cool and creepy at the same time hahaha

I dunno about you guys but I’m pretty pumped for the Master Chief collection.

Mostly just because I’ll be able to enjoy the godlike-ness of Halo 2’s multiplayer and story mode again. Seriously, that campaign blows every other Halo campaign out of the water except for maybe Reach, which is a close second imo. Very close.

Personally, I think it’s pretty awesome that they’re throwing in weapons and vehicles from newer games in the older ones. Especially considering they’ll be giving you the option to play on the maps with the original weapon spawns and whatnot. I mean shit, why not throw in all that new stuff? Even if you’ll only be playing on the maps with the original setups it’s still pretty cool that you have the option to go back and forth. Plus, I always thought it was kind of funny that we saw all kinds of technology in Reach that was never ever used again years later in the actual story. Like I guess everyone in the universe decided the DMR wasn’t good for Halo’s 1-3, but then suddenly they came back into style when 4 happens. The fuck?

This at least makes a little more sense.

Cannot wait to play on Zanzibar again. Cannot wait to play on the OG Lockout. Cannot wait for dat OG Battle Rifle. Next month can’t get here any sooner.

How in the fuck that sounds exciting and why always people make the excuse they’re getting older to hide their lack of skill in action games…but it’s easy

Tabata will be a genious if he pulls this off same as the car you have the option to put it in auto pilot or drive it yourself we should also get an option like this for the combat. A fully manual mode where you have to execute your moves yourself, best of both worlds.

Because when everyone turns on FFXV they’ll all clamor to KH3.

Just as Planned.

Compare the Spartan Laser to the Battle Rifle.
Which is better/more cost-effective in the hands of the numerous Marines?
(^Rhetorical question!)

Kinetic weapons, or nothing.

I always felt Covenant and Brute technology was pretty varied from the human guns anyway. The Spiker was unique. The Mauler was unique. The plasma pistol, Gravity Hammer, Energy Sword, Beam Rifle, spike grenades, Needler…pretty much the majority of the alien weapons felt differentiated from standard human weaponry.
