I just don’t hear people talk about it anymore. I am also certain at least a few people abandoned Titan Fall for Density.
But my post is meant as critique of Destiny not Titan Fall. Titan Fall just happens to be the most resent game that similar to Destiny.
I think part of the review thing is that games rooted as MMO’s are hard to score. They are open ended and never finished delivering content until the servers shut down. Right now they cant even judge the full package because the game is still a baby. Though I admit at launch it is a little repetitive.
I think the biggest issue right now is people trying to determine how long the game is going to last when, considering what TYPE of game it is, it’s only been out for close to a week.
If we’re truly objective here, we really have no idea what they may add into the game later on. They could make a new level cap, they could add new subclasses, new areas, new loot, ect…it’s already been said that the game is supposed to have the lifespan of a decade.
I just think it’s funny how so many people have formed these definitive impressions on the game, and are lead to believe that it’s going to be forgotten in the span of a few months when we haven’t even had a week with it. Since when do we do that with any other MMO?
There is going to be a different level cap. The game is currently described as “soft capped” at level 20. They are probably doing it exactly like they did Reach where they dont want people boosting to maximum rank in the first two weeks.
I read a positive review of Destiny and I thought back to playing the alpha and decided it would be the most boring shit ever for me. I’m glad people like it, and that Bungie fans in ether camp can play a game from their boys.
But yeah, if I’m grinding, I need to be a superhero/villain in Gotham.
A few co-workers of mine have it and love it. I wanna get in on the hype, but the wait-and-see approach is still good in this case.
Friends and family are split on the PS4/Xbone, as well. With both having subscription services the line on the sand has to be drawn. Hopefully after the two year mark it’ll be more clear who go with, like any other console generation…
It’s really an on the fence issue. I preordered, and got a pretty good kick out of it, but I’m sure that others would disagree with me. The story is barely existant and the game is overall bare. However, this isn’t Titanfall, which, while being a pretty bare game, isn’t an MMO. Destiny is an MMO, and I’m sure, even though I may be holding off on the game at the moment, that there is plenty more to come for it. The game has been out for a week, and they already have new content coming, both paid and free. If anything, I’d say don’t buy it immediately, but that will definitely change in the coming months.
I didn’t follow Destiny nor am I playing it so I won’t give any thoughts on the gameplay but people write off new MMOs all the time. Unless you’re Minecraft, everything these days is labeled a WoW clone. When the initial hype wave subsides, around a week to a month after release people will drop the game and return to WoW, or move onto the next MMO.
We’re entering the Fall/Holiday season, and new games come out every week. No matter what type of game Destiny is, if it doesn’t hook in players early, those players will just move onto their next flavour of the month game.
It’s a shame that this is true. With the volume of games coming in October and November, it’s possible that Destiny may fall off. However, I’ve never known Bungie to take hits like that lying down, nor have I known them to not have something that will draw people back in.
there’s something weird about destiny. I think they tried to avoid what happened to titanfall by extending the game’s story through updates. it feels like after “completing it” its only been 30% of the game. who the fuck are all these aliens, I don’t know what the fuck is going on, I feel used
So hold off till the Game of the Year Edition comes out with all the DLC included unlocked on Disk. Got it.
and if a GOTY version don’t come out, oh well.
