I don’t care for whatever beef y’all got… I just get a chuckle outta that map because that’s exactly how popular FPS are these days.
Walk forward, cutscene. Walk forward some more, scripted event where something explodes and you get disoriented/walk slower. Walk slowly towards next scripted event/cutscene. Rinse and repeat until level ends.
@Infernoman Actually you proved that you’re the idiot, see those 4 guys who clicked the LOL button they knew I was joking not actually trying to insult you so just laugh and have a thicker skin it’s the internet man, I even took out the second half of your post so my joke would work.
“lol it was a joke man” typical response to avoid looking dumb. Joke or not, you still didn’t read what I posted. The image has nothing to do with what I said.
I like games that have options BUT I need some form of a goal and have it mean something. Sometimes limitations can provide a challenge. Diablo, RE, Pokemon, yes even CoD all have a goal you work towards but how you get/what you csn use to get to that goal there can change. minecraft is so open that while I can do anything, what is it all for? Plus don’t get me started on presentation of the game. But I digress.
Po you know not all FPS are like that. Borderlands anyone?
Inferno you shouldn’t take it so seriously but I do get your point.
I myself have written papers on linearity vs open endedness in games and most games you would consider open ended (gta, or elder scrolls for example) are actually fairly linear, and a lot of games you would consider linear (fighting games, platfomers) are pretty open ended. A good mix of both is required for a game to be success ful swaying it too far in one way or the other can leave a player feeling like there’s either nothing to do (because they cant find anything to do,minecraft) or nothing they can do (because there’s only one possible option for progression and they cant find it, basically Zelda syndrome)
Yo my fellow SRK people what are your thoughts on Last of Us? I had a lot of pre bype for it, but never bought it for a few reasons.
But this dude was mega hyping saying its the best last gen game and best single player ever and I laughed because he must not have played Bayonetta…lol. but anyway how is it?
The hype for it even now seems kinda artificial or seems like people hype just to have a popular opinion in the same way you have people who tote that no rpg is better than ,FF7. I still wanna play last of us nut may wait until it hits that 20$ price
Rumor involving Nintendo working on a remaster title for next year, states there will be a game released each month.
only reason I’m paying any attention to the rumor is because supposedly the person who brought it up also correctly called out them doing the Pokemon remakes as well as Nintendo picking up Devil’s Third as an exclusive. People hoping for F-Zero GX should probably be crossing fingers right about now just in case.
as far as last gen naughty dog games go Uncharted>TLU
not saying its bad
I’ll actually say Gears>Uncharted as far as last gen TPS’s go, the merit that Gears had same screen multiplayer options co-op the full 9 I mighta beat Uncharted 2 like 10 times and maxed out in multiplayer but after that the value is just gone. Gears campaign I ran through, no joke, probably 100 times. I ran through it everyday cause I could play it with people in my house party up with online peeps go for high scores and all that it was the gift that kept on giving.
Rumor of a remaster/remake have actually been going on for a while now but this is the first time we can verify a proper source.
I really, REALLY want it to be a HD remake of F-Zero GX for Wii-U, but it’s most likely a Majora’s mask remake for 3DS considering how heavily it’s been hinted at.
That reminds me about the time I invited 4 or 5 of my friends over to play offline Gears 2 multiplayer. We play like over 2 hours and at one point it when to sudden death. I told my friends to duke it out with their chainsaw. We got mad hyped after one of them won the chainsaw fight. Damn, those were the days.
I don’t see what’s so bad. Dude stated that it’s the mechanics and scoring system that he doesn’t fully grasp, not anything else.
The manual for Bayonetta even talks about Dodge Offset, but I still had to look it up, and even watch some vids explaining it a couple times over. It’s a great system, but it took a little bit to “get it”.
^Why change what is most proven, as uncertain as profits and stuff like that are?
inb4"but all these cookiecutters waaah"
My pre-emptive response to people who won’t know to take the above question rhetorically:
No shit, but every game ever riffs timeless aspects of one that already codified the genre it’s from.
The problems is with the shitty game-makers, not the games.
