Earlier this morning my issue of the November Gamesmaster Magazine turned up in the post and with it were some exciting details for the recently announced Resident Evil: Revelations 2, set for release early 2015 for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Many of the details revealed include the return of Claire Redfield, the daughter of Barry Burton, plot and enemy details and much more. This information was revealed when Gamesmaster sat down with Resident Evil: Revelations 2 producer Michiteru Okabe.

I will list some of those exciting details below, but if you want to read the article in full, then you can pick up the November issue of Gamesmaster Magazine. I have also taken some images direct from the magazine, for which you can find below.

Claire Redfield will return as the playable lead and it is said that “In the time since we last saw her (Claire), she’s grown to be a seasoned veteran.”

Claire will be joined throughout the campaign with Moira Burton, daughter of the legendary Barry Burton.

The campaign will be playable in co-op or singleplayer.

When playing as Claire, her style will be more combat focused. Whereas Moira will be supplying Claire with health herbs, provided the flashlight and general support.

Claire will be the only player death that will result in a Game Over, one of Moira’s key roles will be to help keep Claire alive (though Claire can obviously heal herself).

The story will take place on an abandoned island detention facility.

The campaign will begin with Claire and Moira awakening after being abducted.

The events will take place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.

Gameplay will be much more Survival Horror orientated (much like the first Resident Evil: Revelations), bringing the series back to its roots with less over the top action, unlike Resident Evil 5 and 6.

Fan feedback has played a part in the development of Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
Producer Okabe said that “The project has been finding the line between listening to fan feedback and also doing something different to confound expectations.”

Okabe also said that “I want this to be both a game that doesn’t lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series.” He also added that “Achieving that lofty goal by bringing together past and future will make this an itchy-tasty prospect indeed.”

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will feature a new “Afflicted” enemy type, which “may look like zombies, but are in fact something quite different.”

The Afflicted enemy will be both fast and able to deal heavy damage to the player. It is also said that they will force the player to decide whether to take them head-on, sneak up using stealth and applying a take-down or the player can run for the hills and “preserve ammo”.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will run at 1080p and 60fps (for the PC and new gen versions at least).

Sounds mostly like what I described in a previous post, hope it’s a good game.

It sounds like Moira wont be able to fight at all. Who the fuck would co-op run that as Moira? I know I wouldn’t. Won’t catch me being the left hand function of Alan Wake no sir. I think Barry would break Raid Mode. Do you not know how broken tier he was in RE5 mercenaries? They gave the man a Samurai Edge, and SW500, and a headbutt melee that one hits common zombie 100% of the time. He was baby Wesker.

Sounds great for first time players, or people who are willing to actually “co-operate” in a supporting role. I can see how this can be a problem for a some who wants to play aggressively in 2nd player, but it’s nice to know that this isn’t completely catering to that kind of player in the first place.

I think it would be better if they did it from an original Doom3 perspective. Where you have to choose between being able to see and being able to fight. Give both players weaponry, but you cant use a flashlight and a weapon at the same time. It could create an interesting dynamic between the two players where you have to manage each others resources and switch roles accordingly, or both go on the offensive in the event off a really tough boss.

You ever been a mechanics helping hand where you had to hold a flashlight while he fixed something so he could see? I imagine this will be like that. Boring as fuck while you wait for the other guy to do things because you are effectively useless in the current situation. I mean this is the daughter of motherfucking Barry Burton here. No way she doesnt have a gun arm by this point in her life. I’m sure she’s shot that massive hand cannon once or twice.

I’m just saying don’t condemn one player to a specific role. Give them both the leisure of switching as they please, or the ability to both be the same thing at the same time

Chris and Sheva should have been dead 20 times over in RE5’s storyline. I don’t think RE is gonna be able to come with another antagonist as memorable as Wesker.

ada wong and leon would get bodied by wesker, the only reason chris didn’t instantly get bodied is because wesker likes playing around with him, he dont give two fucks about ada or leon. wesker is the merchant in resi 4, he’s just laughing in leons face

just think, every time leon visits the merchant he could get bodied seven times over regardless of how much ammo he has

I don’t know. Wesker Leon is like an8-2 matchup. Leon could win but just barely. And I’m only saying this because he managed to kill Krauser who was already borderline god mode. Wesker Chris was 7-3 and only because he had Active Volcano assist. If there wasn’t magma sitting around they probably couldn’t have killed him

Krauser doesn’t compare to Wesker. Wesker is in full control of his virus and it offers him a further range of abilities. Krauser only became a bullet sponge and could turn his arm into a blade and shield.

Let me be clear. The reason I hype Svetlana so much is because she beat Ada and Leon WITHOUT POWERS. Of course Wesker could own them, he’s a fucking Saiyan. She did it just with her own skills.

She didn’t beat ada though it was more of a stalemate. Leon and her are pretty much even I dont recall either of them landing a hit.

Also chris>leon due to Chris fighting wesker and leon being whipped hard by ada…his white knight display was gross in RE6.
