Hm, I don’t really recall those kinds of probs in the HD ports. The biggest annoyance for me was the game’s use of RNG for errthing. Dealing damage, item drops, weapon stats, even stunning or so much as causing enemies to flinch was randomized (ties into your last example). Stage design was pretty blah, but I chalk that one up to the game originating on a handheld.
I liked the general assortment of enemies more than in RE5/6; they seemed to be better placed & designed. Only Draghignazzos (had to look that up) could be tedious depending on the situation.
Well the thing is, they (and a lot of other developers) need to stop trying to cater to EVERYONE. You try to cater to everyone and you only end up alienating everyone. Stick to what you do best and what your franchise is known for. It’s okay to branch out slightly when needed, but there’s a limit. RE4/5 had the right balance of what was needed. The RE6 Chris/Jake campaigns were too far towards the other direction.
And I don’t expect things to be scary because it’s simply hard to do at this juncture.
But I agree with the last part. I mean I was strapped for ammo in RE6, but that’s because enemies were tanking headshots too well. Ammo should be scarce, but enemy health should be lower too, at least headshot health. We have the aiming system and the over the shoulder, make players pick their shots or run if necessary if there’s too many to deal with.
That RE year just felt like Capcom was throwing everything they could at the board and wanted to see what would stick.
Yeah talking about MK sales is like talking about CoD sales. Bro gamers bought something familiar, thats pretty much it in a nutshell.
MK would be wise to make a MK10, but I mean why is SRK hype about MK10 when Mk9 wasnt very good at all? Wasnt it already established that Injustice was a better Mortal Kombat?
High level MK by the end of its life cycle was a game of projectile stalemates. With that said, bring back Fujin, Shao Khan, Reiko and Tanya. Or else I’m not interested. And by interested I mean not interested.
I was responding to the ridiculous comment starting both the casual and hardcore communities don’t give a fuck about MK9 when clearly the sales disagree with this. However anyone chooses to feel about the competitive worth is their own business but to deny the commercial appeal…well that’s just a new level of gay.
I’m not surprised that Mk sold well, it was a brand new MK in the social marketing age. I just dont like how it won “game of the year” awards that year, that was fucked up. MK sucks.
IDGAF about commercial appeal because I’m not a fucking dipshit who gobbles up the GMO food supply while sippin’ on dat fluoride water.
Get your 3 month old sign up date ass outta here. Acting like sales form a cohesive argument when you Illuminati shills aren’t getting a single cent from it. Freebase sells more than weed, but it doesn’t make better than the green leaves.
I played HD port and there were plenty of times where an enemy shot me through a wall, melees me through cover, or just straight up didn’t react to significant damage and wrecked my shit. I once got stuck in a staircase during a boss fight. Survival horror games are known for resource dump sections where they try to make you burn through the stuff you’ve been saving to bring you down to a vulnerable level. They are way too obvious and obnoxiously made in revelations. Infinite small scale enemies with 3+ spawn points, not to mention most enemies take 4 Crit hits to kill if not more. Bosses seem like endless struggles because they rarely react to getting hit and there aren’t enemy lifebars on the main game.
At the end of the day I liked the game. It was enjoyable. But it left a bad after taste to me as an undercooked RE4.
Yeah, never got the MK9 hype, it seemed like half of it was just “Finally we have another MK which isn’t complete fucking dogshit” and everybody went nuts.
I mean it’s ok, when I tried it nothing particularly struck me as shit besides the character designs, but that was it, it was playable, even fucking Street Fighter IV is playable.
MK9 wasn’t that bad. They never let the game play out and tried to patch it every month. Character’s tiers (except Stryker) were like polygraphs throughout ]the game’s life span.
@XthAtGAm3RGuYX Now that I think about it the actual story mode was pretty damn bad. I remember thinking that perhaps my game had glitched during the first Scagdead bossfight because that fucker just wouldn’t go down. I guess spending all of my time in Raid mode (with upgraded weapons that made the stock versions look like a joke) caused me to forget how much of a drag the campaign could be at times.
Not seeing how this has anything to do with what I said.
A comment was made that it had no commercial appeal but clearly this is false…as stated before it’s 1 thing to say it sucks as a game and quite another to be ignorant and pretend it wasn’t a money maker.
I messed around with Raid Mode for awhile as Rachel because tits and health regen. But by the time I got around to it I was already tired of the game. I liked the Raid mode though. Especially the health bar thing. That got a million points from me.
In other news, I still can’t beat RE4 on professional. I was doing fine, and then on the cabin shoot out near the bridge, dudes keep creeping up on me when I’m not looking and I forget how much damage I take in that mode
Can only move so fast while keeping the staircase in check brah. I kinda cheat otherwise. I have the knight armor for ashley. So in some situations I have her move in front of me, tell her to stay, and let her tank all the daamge because lol invincibility
