Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

I’m constantly telling people not to buy things they don’t like… but I’m going to remain vocal about it, because some of you don’t think twice about buying shit and then wondering why it wasn’t done better.

I will NEVER stop saying FUCK CAPCOM…

The only way I’ll stop shitting on them is if these specific things happen:

[details=Spoiler]

  1. The people responsible for the atrocity that is DmC come out and issue a public apology for being assholes to the fanbase… I would like to see a real DMC in the traditional style, but this is secondary to the apology.

  2. Acknowledge the existence of Mega Man. Rock’s appearance in Smash Bros. is a step in the right direction, but it is not enough. Clearly they have no idea what to do with the character, but Nintendo does. How about a reverse of the deal that saw Capcom develop Legend of Zelda titles where Ninty takes the helm of a new Mega Man game?

  3. Capcom swears off DLC until they learn how to do it properly… Since they only know how to cash grab with it and not use “good” DLC snicker, learn how to make a complete game again before turning to DLC to supplement sales.[/details]

Since those things will NEVER happen, Capcom will get ridiculed until my dying day.

I find it funny some people use the excuse that “EA is evil” or something along those lines to not buy their games.

The crazy thing the same people probably don’t realize is that EA put out some great games this generation. Dead Space is one of the best horror games of the generation(if not the best) and Mirror’s Edge was fun as hell and really unique. Battlefield is awesome if you like FPS games, too.

PS1-era Tomb Raider games do not hold up at all. They were janky back then and to go back to them now would be torture. This is coming from someone who still plays & enjoys old games.

Nostalgia shouldn’t cloud your vision for too long before you stop playing them I imagine.

I know you have very little free time so I appreciate you watching the video  I’m somewhat of a masochist, because even though I hate many of the practices and ethics of companies like EA, Ubisoft, and Activision for example I’ll still give them my money when they have a product I want, and part of me hates myself for supporting a company that I don’t want to…but then that part of me is obliterated by the fun and satisfaction I get from playing said games. Prime example, I hate the laziness and cash grabbing machine that COD has become so MW2 was the last one I bought, but I’m excited for Advanced Warefare and will most likely pick that up at some point.

I guess it’s like anything in life gaming has grey areas. Chris Beniot may be a terrible person, but that doesn’t diminish the fact that he is one of the most technically impressive wrestlers of all time, even if Michael Jackson was a pedo it doesn’t make me enjoy his music any less, but as we both know many gamers are too emotional and impulsive to be able to compartmentalize like that.

This is a great point, and for the most part, I agree.

I only draw lines as deeply as I do because a company like Capcom will never have an impetus to change if we keep enabling them by buying sub-par products.

Most of my issues stem more from gamers themselves rather than the companies.

Except Capcom. They owe that apology for DmC, and I won’t forget all the things that were said in regards to the fanbase

I’m talking about when the video is already active. You usually get YT-specific stuff like “Copy URL”, “Copy URL at current time”, and “Stats for nerds”. None of that shows-up for me anymore, I just get… nothing.

If I didn’t buy a good product because of said company’s shitty business practices there’d be practically nothing in my house, not even food.

Gaming is a business. There’s going to be shady shit going on. If you’re going to skip a game in this case because of it, well…the only person missing out is you, especially when we’re talking about companies worth millions. Your 20-60 bucks doesn’t really help them much I imagine, so really, you’re missing out on something potentially awesome because you’re bitter about X gaming company’s shady business practices.

I’m bitter about having to pay money to play online on PS4, especially when 99% of games are P2P. Thing is, I know that at some point the PS4 will have a gaming library so good(and exclusive to the platform) that I won’t be able to ignore it anymore and I’ll eventually pick one up even though paying to play games online is fucking disgusting to me. I’ll eventually look past this garbage business decision just so I can play awesome games.

Still not dropping this are you? Somebody commented on this schtick of yours the other day, and I have to say I find myself in agreement of their annoyance with it. It’s getting close to the annoying level of Jimmy or King of Parody’s posting styles.

We know you dont like capcom but nobody really gives a shit to hear you complain about them every other post.

Therein lies the problem. If everyone stood up and said, “No” when these kinds of things go down, these companies wouldn’t have a leg to stand on… but people are not disciplined nor organized enough to do without the next CoD for a year or two to force change, people feel no choice but to buy in.

That’s not a shot at you, Abid, or anyone else who genuinely just wants to play, but it is something to keep in mind next time you get frustrated about Day One DLC, or F2P models, or online paywalls…

It’s this line of thinking that empowers people like Tameem Antoinaides to say and behave they way he does towards games and their fanbases.

I’m fine with being the only one standing on my side of the fence.

I don’t think I’ve bought a single EA game since PS2 days. Feels good man.

One of the most fun, balanced, accessible yet deep multiplayer games of all time is $2 freakin dollars for the next 40 hours:

I didn’t mind paying for XBL, and PS+ actually gives me free games and discounts.

Games With Gold, I know. Too little/late.

Mirror’s Edge was cool. I’m not tripping on Capcom. They have the DMC 2-4 director and team(mostly) on board so if DMC5 drops it’s in good hands.

Comcept, Platinum and Tango Works are around so I don’t see the need to care about them anymore. Their old library is still available to revisit and the people that are responsible for Capcom’s hits are still making games, just not at Capcom.

I’m more interested in the teams that make the games actually happen rather than holding onto old icons that are held by publishers for legal reasons.

Yea, you’re right… This makes me even more upset that the upcoming TR game is going to be a “timed-exclusive.”

Yea, that works, too.

I thought going off on EA and Capcom , or any other big publisher is preaching to the choir here.

It’s old here but I would rather read Po 's rants on the comment section at Gamespot, IGN, Destructoid, NeoGAF etc.

Not something to be proud of.

You’ve missed out on a lot of good content.

I’d be banned in six posts… Two posts if it was about DmC.

SSX 3 was the last game I bought from EA. Not sure what else they had other than Mirror’s Edge, BF and Dead Space.

BF is cool, but I don’t own a buff PC. Wasn’t caring for what I saw of Dead Space. Personally, even though you weren’t talking to me, I feel like I left on a high note.

Damn this slipped under the radar, apparently there is a Geometry Wars 3 in the works and it looks very interesting.

And yes it is done by the former Geometry Wars team.

It’ll be out for everything (cept Wii U and handhelds apparently)

That’s the thing…you need everyone to be behind it. I bought DLC for like…three games for the entirety of the last-generation(2/3 were worth it, the third one I got burned by) and I’ve never once supported a platform that forces you pay to play games online. Thing is millions of people did, Sony couldn’t ignore the success of Live(literally the only thing making the Xbox division at Msoft any money) anymore and they made it a part of their platform. Sure, other aspects of PS+ lessen the blow, but at least PC & the Wii U(lol) have free online. Portables, too.

EA is a developer as well as a publisher. They have a shitload of studios. BioWare(shitty WRPGs), DICE(Battlefield, Frostbite engine devs), Visceral(Dead Space) some studios in Canada and Europe somewhere.

Thing is EA is more cut-throat with their business practices than other companies. They’ll buy developers, get them to make a game or two, and if those games weren’t profitable they shut them down. They’re relentless with DLC, “season passes” and more. The negative light gets shined on EA more than other developer/publishers which is why they have the reputation they have(as well as just terrible business practices over the years.)

I get the EA hate, but some of their games are great and some of you are missing out by not playing them because you hate the guys in the suits.

Capcom got rid of a lot of their amazing developers or they left the company for the worse. Now those same people are over at Platinum* games or at Bethesda making horror games with id tech engines, or mirroring Megaman with the help of a kickstarter.

At least they got the DMC4/Dragon’s Dogma guy kicking around somewhere.

Geometry Wars 2 is on the short list of greatest games of all time, all 6 modes just pure gaming perfection. It’s the only 360 game I still play today.

Awesome to hear there’s a new one in development, but I don’t plan on getting an Xbone until like 2017 lol and the art while interesting is inferior to GW2, but I do like that they’re making it have a Super Mario Galaxy level structure because they weren’t going to top GW2 so they smartly chose to try something new:

EDIT: IT’S COMING TO PC THIS YEAR WOOOO!!!
