To answer your question: because indie games are basically all new IP’s, there are ass loads of new IP’s on that side of the industry (which is why im a very happy gamer lol) but on the AAA side…not so much.
Also I did not passively aggressively attack anyone, I simply pointed out the fact that most SRK’ers were heavily biased and too emotional to ever gave the game a fair shot. What you fail to understand is it doesn’t matter how right you may be about DmC, the fact is judging anything before having the full information to do so is never a good look if you want your opinion to be taken seriously by any adult. I never said nor implied I’m superior you said that not me, but I do know I don’t make blind assumptions like you do, but hey everyone’s different and that’s cool. I don’t think you should be so offended as you are by me suggesting that maybe it would be better if you at least waited to play the demo before shitting on DmC. Instead you were shitting on it and than played it saying “see it’s just as bad as I already knew it was” anyway you slice it you and several others here displayed the textbook definition of confirmation bias, I’m just the objective guy pointing that fact out.
As for your “the developer insults us so it’s justified for us to have insulted them first” that mentality doesn’t gel with me as its a slightly modified "eye for an eye mentality, and as SRK’ers I expect you guys to be smarter and more even handed than these arrogant condescending developers not stoop to their level.
Nigga please, it was never about being emotional or biased, it was about knowing what we wanted and principles, only an idiot buys something from someone who actively insults him.
DmC is everything of what i don’t want from the DMC series, therefore i wouldn’t buy it, that doesn’t make me deny that perhaps DmC was the best game that Ninja Theory has developed in terms of gameplay, but it came packaged with a lot of stupid shit that i was not going to support, aka a unnecesary reboot to a franchise that was doing well, an unnecesary redisign for the worse, focus on lol story instead of gameplay, questionable mechanics that hinder what DMC is about, developers mocking and insulting the fanbase, so no nigga i knew exactly what i wanted, and DmC was not it, and you can bet your ass that it was the same for everyone else.
The fact that the only people who actually liked DmC are people who were never fans neither were interested to play the franchise before speaks volumes on how fucked DmC is as a DMC game.
Deep Silver Takes over Development of Homefront: The Revolution
Deep Silver is opening up a new studio and moving all assets to it. Don’t know yet on the status of Crytek UK but this is not boding well here…
Sony passed on EA access for PS4 believing it doesn’t have good value
Nintendo releases financials for Q1 fiscal year
Wii U moved slightly over 500,000 units during the 3 months and brings the LTD global for the system at 6.68 mil. Mario Kart 8 moved 2.82 and just a bit over a month. Even though they have good news they are still taking a loss of near 100 mill. If anything this is encouraging for them that the platform just needs more games to get the system to sell. I’m curious to see how much influence Smash has over everything at the end of this year.
@Hecat0m fair points which I mostly agree with, that being said the fact stands that confirmation bias ran rampant in the DMC thread lol.
@Sonichuman do you think there are any games coming out this holiday which may make Smash 4 not have as high sales as we expect? I think Michael Pachter was right when he said wii U will sell between 20-30 million units in it’s lifetime and that to expect anything higher is unrealistic, although I hope he’s wrong.
The most popular games in the world are free to play. See MOBAs like Dota 2 and League of Legends. They also happen to make their developers a ton of money. Capcom just needs to make Deep Down’s gameplay fun and engaging enough so people will want to spend money on cosmetic and vanity items. Assuming that’s the type of content they plan on selling to players and they aren’t going the route of locking progression and areas of the game behind paywalls.

Capcom releases their Q1 financial report
Dead Rising 3 reached 1.4 mill in sales and even though they didn’t release anything during the financial quarter they managed to make a profit. They’re looking forward to MH4U bringing home the bacon since it gets released in Japan in Nov.
Sony’s Q1 report
game revenue up 95.7%, operating profit of 43 mill, 3.5 mill units sold of the playstation brand( meaning everything: Vita, PSP, PS4, PS3), the playstation brand outsold the xbox brand 3:1 for the period. Also to be clear…this is just focusing on their Games division and not anything else within the Sony corp.
The only games I personally can see that have a chance at putting a dent into the Smash hype train is CoD. A bunch of the other games that could have had an opportunity to eat away at it got pushed back to next year. Master Chief collection will bring hype for Xbone because it’s Halo but it’s a collection of remasters and remakes. Sunset Overdrive looks awesome but it’s a new IP and I’m unsure of how the Xbone fanbase is going to react to their 3rd person shooters not being brown and cover based. PS4’s only exclusive that I can think of off the top of my head for the rest of this year is Driveclub which is both a new IP and it’s a racing game. flips through release sheets Oh yeah…GTA V. Even though that game has been already been released…people will go crazy for that. So the only things I think that can put a dent in the Smash train on the home console front are CoD, GTA V, and semi ironically Smash 3DS. If somehow Smash 3DS is so underwhelming that it makes people not want to pick up the Wii U version…and then there’s the ‘I refuse to buy a Wii U for anything so I’ll just play Smash on the 3DS and hope I’ll be satisfied’ crowd.
On the handheld front…Vita is probably a wrap this year. Even though Vita has to contend with a remake pokemon hype train which isn’t nearly as threatening…it has to contend with that after being trucked by the Smash 3DS hype a month before release. Vita has like nothing noteworthy this year to deal with these 2 imo. It has good games coming out but just about everything looks niche and not noteworthy in comparison to those 2 giants. It really feels like Sony is leaving it out to die this year.
eh…I don’t pay much attention to Pachter. I’m not expecting the Wii U to sell gangbusters since I believe they’ve already lost much of their opportunity they could have had in the first year or so. The only thing I hope for is that it exceeds expectations so the Nintendoomed crowd can STFU.
I just really want Smash 4 to sell as well as most of us are hoping it it will. Anything less than at least 1 million would be a big blow to Nintendo financially since they’re banking so hard on it.
Looks like Capcom is taking Breath of Fire back into the right direction as well as back to it’s roots.
I can’t argue with the choice to go mobile this time around even though I hate the whole Smart Phone gaming scene as a whole.
Although Touch screens work well with Turn Base RPGs.
I wished they called it Breath of Fire 5 instead and ignored that that fiasco Dragon Quarter ever existed
Warrning: The following is a Memetic Cognitothreat Hazard, open at your own risk
That’s cold. Breath of Fire 5 is the only game in the series I did play. I thought it was alright. The mechanic to have you constantly die in order to unlock the full story pissed me off to no end. I hated to how many times I had to start over. Dragon counter mechanic was annoying too.
Aside from huge disappointment that it’s a mobile game, I wish that the art direction did look generic. Playing it too safe. Shouldn’t Nina have wings? I didn’t see anything resembling wings on her.
I never said this. They both have their ups and downs. Sigma has more content, vanilla has more enemies+gore.
You even asked me what the differences were between the games and I linked that video to you as well as explaining the differences through text in the NG3 thread IIRC. The one thing to keep in mind is that the gameplay between both versions is identical. It’s up to you if you prefer more content & online coop VS more enemies in the campaign and more gore in vanilla NG2.
Gunplay=another word for gameplay in regards to FPS/TPS games and yes, it does matter.
Why is it the weaboos as well as the Atlus & ArcSys fans are so sensitive? Be grateful your games even get localized here.
