It’s not so much the concept, but the parties involved. Nexon’s rep with the F2P model leaves much to be desired.
Not passing judgement yet, but this announcement rather underwhelming considering Cliff’s fanfare that preceded it.

Ah I don’t know anything about Nexon so that part of the deal is lost on me. Honestly that doesn’t surprise me much, Cliff has made it pretty clear in the last few years that he’s far more interested in making money so him going F2P seems pretty expected. Certainly tanks my interest in his product tho.
Cliff tried to steal Jaffe’s swag and be the rockstar game designer. He not Itagaki/Kamiya/Suda/Hausers. So his name hasnt caught my eye in a good way since 2007

Sounds like you’ve hit the money there.
There’s this game called Super Hero Generation that’s coming out on PS3 in Japan. It’s a weird crossover of Kamen Rider, Gundam and Ultra man.
So umm The Sims 4 sounds like an absolute mess… Like somehow even more of a mess than we were expecting it to be.

EA continues to amaze me in being able to make me set my expectations for their games as low as possible and somehow (likely through some form of black magic) the finished product ends up not even being able to come close to even reaching that pitiful level of expectation.
That’s actually just the latest in a long line of games that have been around since the NES era. Or Famicom, I guess.
EA can’t have any of the fun stuff in the base game. The stuff that everyone wants will be included in the 5,000 expansion packs they got lined up.
Why people still support EA I will never know.
Why “supporting companies” is still a thing at all I will never know.
Why people still support EA I will never know.
Because I like Dead Space, Mass Effect, and Mirror’s Edge

In my case i love NFS, so in that regard, as long as i find them fun, i will buy it.
EA got Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge. I don’t deny myself games I enjoy because the suits that run the companies are dumbasses.

Goddammit… If y’all would quit buying Assassin’s Creed every year and all the DLC that goes with it, this wouldn’t be a thing.
You know, I’m tired of ranting all the time… So I’ll leave it at this:
FUCK UBISOFT AND YVES GUILLEMOT CAN EAT A SACK OF RAYMAN STYLE DISJOINTED DICKS.
I don’t get the Assassin’s Creed hate. Some of the games have been worse than others but none of them are really “bad” games.
As long as they don’t fuck up the formula and keep adding awesome gameplay aspects, then yeah, I will continue to enjoy thwarting Templar schemes in various and interesting time periods.
Now COD, or something like that, is a totally different story…

I remember saying something similar when Mega Man still existed…
Be careful what you wish for, young padawan- There’s a reason Nintendo doesn’t make a new Smash Bros. or Zelda every year…
Pokemon is already beginning to push the limits of what is an acceptable wait time between releases with this $40 Nostalgia Bait and Balance Patch, er, I mean Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire…

If you look at the article (the original news source) you’ll find that IGN actually quoted GI wrong, and the real description of the game is on GI.
Gearbox unleashes a new co-op/competitive first-person shooter, packed with heroes from across the universe.
**Battleborn takes the minion smashing and fast leveling often associated with MOBAs and injects it into an intergalactic first-person battle arena. **The game’s dramatic story assembles a universe’s worth of disparate heroes, from an immortal samurai to a minigun-wielding giant, all battling over the last star in the cosmos. The absurd premise blows open the doors for creativity, allowing the innovative minds at Gearbox to create a tremendous rogue’s gallery of playable characters.
We visited Gearbox’s studio in Plano, Texas to talk with the developers about Battleborn and play the first announced competitive match type for Game Informer’s August cover story. We played hours of Incursion, an inventive 5 vs. 5 mode that combines fast-paced first-person gameplay with the strategic team-based elements of games like League of Legends and Dota 2. Rival battleborn hunt one another in lush jungles and arid deserts while robotic NPC minions wage an ongoing tug-of-war. Players start on a level playing field at the beginning of each match, progressing along a streamlined skill path up to level 20 filled with customizable abilities that unlock a variety of different play styles. Many of these gameplay elements will also bleed into Battleborn’s five-player cooperative campaign, which Gearbox isn’t saying much about yet.
Sighs IGN sometimes…
I can see it now.
Buy through gamestop or you can’t even finish the game.
Like buying mins for steamy 900 numbers in the 90s!
Power to the players indeed!
