Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

Well, E3 USED to be just that… but in the last 15 years or so, it has turned into complete circus and parody of itself… Especially when the celebrities started pouring in trying to leech some shine for themselves claiming to be “hardcore” gamers… :coffee:

Way I see it that E3 reflects the whole industry not just itself, issue I see effects the industry as a whole.

Day2 of Watch Dogs experiences.

I’ll give this game some credit where it’s due. It has a lot of subtle comedy that just perfectly hits it’s mark. The most notable of these instances are the video logs you can view from ctOS servers. I just watched one where a guy is raging at shooting game saying shit like “WHAT THE FUCK YOU CANT DO THAT WHEN I RESPAWN” and other such verbal fare. I looked up in the top left corner of the video feed “Device: KINECT”. Now considering what the ctOS system does, and the time frame of when Watch Dogs was in development, I took this as a jab at the internet hoopla of “The government spies on you through the Kinect sensor” from before the Xbone launched. I’ve also seen some referneces to other Ubisoft games as well. I’ve seen a FarCry3: Blood Dragon arcade cabinet, I seen a video feed where some kid and his dad are playing assassins creed but it’s only heavily implied, and almost*** played a poker game where the system was completely jacked from FC3.

The hacking system is something that only gets more fun as you get new shit. Killing power to an entire section of the city and then infiltrating some kid of compound never gets old. Like I said, the hacking gives the game a Batman feel.

Driving, on the other hand, just doesnt get any better. If anything I’m finding more things wrong with it. Pro tip. Dont ride the motorcycles. The sound capture for the engine is atrocious and I would go so far as to say that it barely qualifies as more than a broken sound file. Jarring to listen to nonetheless.

I had a situation earlier where my bullets were hitting an invisible wall in the middle of fucking nowhere. It was a perfectly clear shot and all my bullets just vaporized on the way to the guards head. There werent any bullet holes in the walls so I didnt miss, and he wasnt alerted by bullets missing him so they couldnt have been near him at all. The left the barrel and ceased existence. Only happened once but I think it mightve had something to do with the moving hitbox of a forklift. I was shooting under the jack part, but I was still aiming nowhere near it. Isolated incident I suppose.

I’m finding myself wanting to play it now, but only because the hacking is making it fun. Baton take downs are unusually violent for something that isnt lethal. Like god damn how them kneecaps feel? Did you enjoy the severe concussion and skull fracture as well? Shit.

Still gonna sell it after I beat it.

***Not sure if spoiler. Will leave to your imagination.

Destiny expansions AKA DLC announced

why wont they just put forward their PC version for christs sake, im building a skynet PC and they’re tempting me to buy the ps4 version :bluu:

Trust me Shima, you don’t want a PC version of an Activision game.

Or Bungie for that matter. Don’t get me wrong I like Bungie but their PC work has been meh at best, the last thing on a “PC” they made that was worth playing was Marathon and that was a Mac game from for fucking ever ago.

but… VR DESTINY

I thought Cliffy’s reason for leaving was because he didn’t just wanted to be known as the guy who made the Gears of War franchise and since the execs still wanted the company to still make it he left.

Day3 of Watch Dogs experiences.

Guess what? I have another complaint with driving. Though not the mechanic itself, there are two gripes I have with the aesthetics of how it works. For starters, all vehicles are certified 100% adamantium. Any head on collision that would leave a vehicle injured and operating improperly in other games, dont even put a dent in whatever you are driving. I honestly almost think this game doesnt have cosmetic damage for vehicles unless an absurd amount of damage is taken. Go ahead and ram a semi truck full speed in the wrong lane. You bust a headlight at worst. Secondly, Aiden’s legs have Kung Fu action grip when it comes to motorcycles. Under no circumstance will you ever fall off the bike due to a vehicle collision. It just does not happen. It’s just such a weird thing after playing games like Saints Row, GTA, and Sleeping Dogs where so much as grazing a trash can causes you to lose your balance and eat pavement.

This game has indirect sins of game designs in terms of missions. I’ll give you two scenarios, from the same mission no less! Though as a bonus, the first one occurred on a different mission beforehand.

  1. A main part of this game, is being presented a scenario, and tackling it however you see fit, and the game gives you a multitude of ways to handle said scenario. There’s probably about 3 different ways to enter any enemy building at least. But anyway, your average guy like me will take the easiest, and most efficient route that has been discovered, also usually being the shortest route. A problem this game has is tacking on further objectives while assuming you carried out the previous objective a certain way. I had to get into this guys warehouse office and tap into his computer, but before doing so I thought I had dealt with all relevant guards that might discover me. Hack his computer, catch a camera feed of him on a phone, and then see him get into his car in a hurry to bail somewhere, so the game tells me I have to go get him. I go to leave the office, and there is an armored guard with a shotgun staring me down. I use focus(bullet time) and blow up a fuse box next to him which he dies from. Now there are two ways to leave from here, down a stair case through a building which I never really set foot in and dont know the layout of, or I can go out the window I came through. I took the window. Now I have to run to where he is at which takes me past a really long fence with barbed wire. By the time I find an opening, he has already left. Fucking cool I also dont see a car anywhere. Lose the mission because he got away. Game respawns me at a door in the building where there is a car in sight RIGHT next to where the guy leaves from.
TL;DR Game gave me different options, punished me for being smart with enemy encounters.

  2. I’m doing a mission where somebody is trying to kill a person I need to black mail. I kill some of those dudes after fucking up their ambush before the guy even went there. Game tells me to go to his location. Well considering that people are trying to kill him, I naturally decide i need to put the pedal to the floor. ***The objective marker all the way there just says “REACH”. I get 5 meters away from it slamming on the brakes, marker changes to “TAIL”. The guy see’s me “Mission failed: You were spotted!” ***

I thought it was just going to be a park point near his position. The game did not imply that it would be EXACTLY where the fucking guy is. Good job putting me 1300 meters away in a life or death situation so I feel the need to hurry there as fast as I can.

Mission design in this game suffers from the same kinda shit that makes certain missions is Ass Creed so tedious and annoying.

Also sorry for wall of text everyday, but when I get a new game that is still fresh I like to let other people know what my experiences are so they dont go in with the bar really high and come out riddled with disappointment. That and I know for a fact many people here are on the fence about purchasing the title.

Soooo…gamestop is going to try to get involved with game development

It pretty much involves mostly with making more exclusive content for the games that get sold through them.

I can see it now.

Buy through gamestop or you can’t even finish the game.

Goddammit.

Remake when? ;_;

Never.

Yeah, unfortunately.
Emulation it is.

No North American release.

The “True Ending DLC” fiasco of Asura’s Wrath was just the beginning.
“Preorder the new COD from GameStop or you cant prestige in multiplayer”
“Preorder to use more than just the starter pistol!”
“Preorder the Spiderman from gamestop or you cant shot web!”
“Preorder the new Forza from gamestop or your wheels fall off after the first lap. In EVERY race!”

CliffyB’s New Project is a F2P Arena Shooter Published by Nexon; Tentatively Named “Blue Streak 2: Electric Boogaloo”

Well, given what we know so far, it’s just as well as if this guy had never returned to the industry at all, imo.

Why? Arena shooters aren’t exactly plentiful these days. Will probably be a lot more twitchy like stuff from back in the day then a lot of the shooters that come out these days. Probably…
