Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

I wonder if the price of 3DSXL will go down soon. Its $200, and I’d rather put the money on a new TV instead. Probably doesn’t help that the only reasons I want to get one is Pokemon, ace attorney, Kirby and fire emblem.

Nothing personal, Gam3rDud3XYZ, but this line of thinking always irks me… You want a 3DS XL, but price is a concern. It has several titles you want to play, though… So what is the point of you posting this? Are you looking for someone to justify buying one? Trying to talk yourself into/out of it?

Why not look for a sale, buy a regular 3DS, or do some snicker trade-ins?

I understand the concern, but for me, if a console has more than three or four titles that interest me, I’m looking into it. As far as a 3DS is concerned, there are at least twenty titles that I would say make it well worth a purchase.

People get apprehensive about spending two bills on a portable system that can go anywhere and plays a multitude of titles, but have zero reservations about dropping almost $500 on a home console that has all of jack and shit to play…

I don’t understand.

Am I the only one who wishes we get another small surge of like some of those old sci-fi/horror/atmospheric old games? I like Examples I can throw would be bringing back the atmosphere of classic ResEvil, Galerians, Silent Hill, and Parasite Eve Not necessarily make a tank control games. But atleast with Galerians and ParaEve, you had some pretty interesting shit going on with their genre mashing. Thinking about it,I need the first Galerians game, i had the 2nd but lost that shit, same with ParaEve 2 :

But yeah I miss those creepy-ish type of games. I would like to see that stuff happen now, since alot more can be done with these new consoles, hell even handhelds. I got ParaEve 1, and i need to start that shit sometime this summer.

I got my XL from Target in April of 2013 for $160. That sale has happened at least once or twice more since. Next time a special edition is coming out, keep an eye out.

Very happy to own a 3DSXL and OG Vita.

DINO CRISIS.

But we will never see another one, sigh…

With the horror genre being one of my favorites in video games, I agree that it’s been lacking for a long while now. I haven’t played a game that truly frightened me since Dead Space 1 came out.

Yet I want for nothing more than a Silent Hill game that does the first 3 justice. Impossible as it may sound to match the sheer excellence of those titles, the team was almost on the right track with Homecoming. I was actually surprised to find out how much I enjoyed the game, in light of all the terrible impressions I had seen it leave on people. It shares a lot of classic SH gameplay aspects that made it feel like the first 3. Something pretty much all of the more recent titles lack.

But, that’s also why I’m crossing my fingers for The Evil Within. That game has some serious potential as a great next gen horror title. Same goes for Bloodborne, which at this point looks more like a Horror game than anything else.

We could. Dinosaurs and Zombies seem to pass favor every other decade. :coffee:

Horror genre is also one of my favorites. Current series on my need to finish list is Fatal Frame. But yeah I do definitely wish horror genre still had atleast a decent prescense. From what i hear from last gen that only decent-good horror games were Homecoming, Siren: Blood Curse, and specifially Dead Space 1. I need to get bloodcurse after the first Siren.

I have trouble playing Siren because that shit really does make me nervous to the point where alot of times idk if i wanna just wing the mission and hope i can just run throught it, or use the sightjack. Because nothing worse than using sightjack and knowing a nigga is looking in your direction and if you move he’s gonna see you, or knowing he is near, but can’t pinpoint his position lol.

I also think another Clock Tower would be cool, granted I only played 3 which i know is different than the original 2(or 3 because of that other one that isn’t “clock tower 3”?) But I think its idea was cool, each little world/time period has it’s only killer and etc. But it wasn’t executed proper due to gameplay. But it was still alright, and they had the right idea.

I forgot about Clocktower. That was always a game I wanted to try. It was for the PS2, right?

You know what I also felt could have been a revolutionary Horror title with a focus on combat?

Splatterhouse.

And it’s sad really, because it’s like they were ALMOST on the right track to making a really remarkable game (the voice actor for the mask is GODLIKE), but it just had so many things dragging it down. Choppy and dated graphics, weird and sometimes awkward combat, the repetitiveness of your average Spider-Man game, a lacking cast of voice actors BESIDES just the mask…that shit had huge potential and they pretty much wasted it.

I would love to see them give it another go with a sequel on Xbone/PS4.

Unless team silent comes back to develop the game it’s best to leave it in the past. I love the SH series but I want to remember it for what it was and not the shit it eventually became thanks to the idiot US teams.

The price itself isn’t really the huge issue. Its what I would get out of it compared to a product of the same price. First off I’m still rocking a CRT. With a new TV I could play all of the games I already own and play frequently, and I can watch all my movies/shows and shit.

As opposed to the 3ds, which only plays games, and I only have a passing interest in said games. I don’t NEED to have them. Ill just get more value out of a new TV. If 3dsxl was like 140 or lower I’d probably just snatch it up without comparing it to something else. It doesnt help that even having games drives the total initial investment to just under $300 to even make use of it.

Maybe it’s just me. Whenever I blow more than $100 on a single purchase I have to justify it for myself. I’m just really OCD about money management.

I want another Klonoa game. That was my shit back in the day. I still have the second one on PS2, I bought the remake of the first for the Wii, and I had the GBA games too. Series was so cash.

Dead now though. :frowning:

tl;dr Not enough invocation of http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Laconic/NothingIsScarier.
Trust me; it works.
*Too *well… but that’s the point.

Fun fact: here’s why.

Now you know why so many inherently good usable aspects in media get rarer, come back, and do it eternally;
media makers can fuck up so badly they discourage viewing ANY work with those aspects, not just theirs!

…At least, for a while. That’s where
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Laconic/Reconstruction comes in.

^ As hilarious as that gif is still…You’re too slow.

Oh shit, apparently Atlus is teasing another Etrian Odyssey game, seems more likely to be a remake of EO2.

I’d rather have an EO5 but sorry for ever fucking doubting you Atlus . I’ll kindly shut the fuck up now about your decisions.

Unless you fuck up.

But you won’t do that.

At least not in the US.

Sorry EU

Just get a damn 2ds 100 bucks boom totally worth it. spend the 200 if you really need the 3d feature but chances are your not gonna be using it that often

I don’t get why the 2DS doesn’t close shut like every other iteration does. That screen has to get fucked up relatively quickly.

Biggest problem with 2DS isn’t the lack of 3D, it’s the lack of folding, making that thing take up a ton of fucking space. It’s pretty dumb.

It’s a budget model.
