Translation: “Hi everyone, I’m Po! And I have every single Assassin’s Creed game in my gaming library, along with the strategy guides and other miscellaneous merch like T-shirts and coffee mugs. My favorite AC game is Black Flag because PIRATES! Also I have a small Assassin’s Creed shrine with a framed picture of Yves Guillemot hanging over it. What a man! swoon”
I stopped really caring about Assassin’s Creed after the Ezio trilogy, which was where the series was at its peak from every angle. The first game was really tedious and grindy, but AC2 fixed those issues. That said, the Assassin’s Creed series was never a bad one, so I don’t see any issue with people buying/playing the games. Where the true problems lie is in the following: 1. Milking the series by pumping out sequels for a quick cash grab faster than rabbits pump out babies, and 2. Making little to no changes, revisions, or additions to the gameplay mechanics to make the game feel different/better than the last, and sometimes even removing options/mechanics. It’s because of these two things that I didn’t really like AC3 and didn’t even bother playing Black Flag. However, The upcoming title looks promising. I will be picking that one up in the hopes that it’ll be more along the lines of AC: Brotherhood-quality. If not, I’m probably done with this series until they take the story to Feudal Japan lol.
Im not sure if the issue with shooting games is that there is alot, or that they are just uninspired and lazy. I used to play FPS stuff back in the day. Bt now I don’t really have much interest in the genre due to the laziness of it.
I like shooters as long as they have either interesting mechanics, do new things, have some variety, or have entertaining characters. Case in point Vanquish, Bioshock and Infinite, GoW1(campaign is loltastic), Uncharted, Binary Domain(surprisingly solid), Deus Ex: Human Revolution, etc.
I actually couldn’t get into Bioshock, i got it for like 5$ on sale I think. It’s not a bad game by any means, but the atmosphere and combat got stale and hit a plateau very quickly for me. But it was most definitely interesting
Well, yea… The entire game is nothing but Disney characters, locations, music, references, and venues lol. What I’m surprised about, after playing KH1.5, is how good of a job they did with staying faithful to the characters. The Disney characters are all perfect incarnations of themselves. The voice actors, designs, tendencies… All spot on.
Not really… If you look at RPGs, Fighters, or Action games, you see that they’re constantly evolving and trying new things. They tend to take a lot more risks to offer the player a more unique experience. FPSs, however, tend to be VERY safe and generic. They stick to a specific formula because they know that people will always eat that shit up. Rarely do they ever think outside the box and try something new and different. A few exceptions I’ve noticed are Vanquish(3rd Person, but I’m short on examples here), Titanfall(to an extent), and Borderlands(I guess). Most shooters try to get as close to CoD as possible, leaving the genre saturated with boring clones of the same game.
