Don’t do it while most people like po hate it for the fucked up unnecessary changes to Dante and the story its actually a bad game imagine DMC without lock on or styles and systems put in place to actively stifle your combo options topping it all off by making devil trigger dumb and useless and ugh I don’t wana talk about what they did to devil trigger. It’s just bad pretty low tier as far as action games go your better off going for your 20th spin in dynasty warriors or something
After playing DMC1 and 3 again from that HD update, DMC1 is still the best in the series. I mean really, DMC3/4 are just combo games whereas DMC1 is more of a combat game, which is far more interesting of an experience overall. It makes level design, enemy design, and weapon/tool design just so much more important. With DMC3 the most important part of it is only Dante’s abilities. And sure, he’s got some cool shit and there’s cool moments in it and a few cool bosses, but none of those fights are as memorable as most of DMC1.
Heck what I remember most about DMC3 is mostly just all the cool combo videos, but not really much from the game itself aside from his vast skill repertoire, Virgil, and the opening movie. DMC1 is chock full of memorable encounters in interesting places with enemies that require varied strategies and different weapons to kill.
I mean, sure if all you really care about is wailing on enemies creatively then yeah DMC3/4 would be better. I still think it’s kind of a shame the series went in that direction though, when the first one wasn’t really about that
Om the topic of DMC, the Nelo Angelo fights are very important to me. Like those were some fun as fights man. Very memorable indeed. And I agree that DMC1 is the best from a game design standpoint. But I still enjoy 3/4 for the more combat crazy focused gameplay. But DMC1 is something special no doubt
I’m noob-ass scrub who’s late to this conversation, so humor me by answering this question…
What the fuck is ST? I’m racking my brain trying to think of any fighter that goes by those letters, and my obscure-fighter knowledge stops around Rival Schools so me help out.
If you don’t trust them to not fuck up a game then why do you want them to do Mega Man? What, do you suddenly think they’ll turn competent?
It’s not like they can give every single property they have to other people. We already saw how that worked out too.
So when they do try something, no one will trust them and will write it off as another bad game. When they don’t, they’ll be considered lazy and unfairly screwing their own IPs. And after DmC, if they pass off their IP to anyone that isn’t fucking Platinum, they’ll be considered idiots again.
Don’t get me wrong, like I’ve said before, I have no fucking loyalty to any developers. I only care about the games that are put out. If it’s a good game, I’ll want it. If not, I won’t. I do not give a shit about the source. But it does strike me as funny as while it is somewhat self inflicted, the only outcome people want to see out of Capcom at this point is death. If they do anything else, they’re the worst. Again it is somewhat self inflicted considering the recent poor outings but I still think people take WAY too much stock in how “EVIL” or “TERRIBLE” developers are. Because at this point, even if Capcom did a good game (which could be never, I know), half this thread would say “Nah, it’s Capcom no one better buy that shit, it’s too late”.
It’s just kind of a waste. Worst part is, I can’t even say that developer or company dickriding or the opposite is a recent development.
I really wish people would read my posts instead of type casting me as a rageaholic who hates everything new…
@orochizoolander, if you feel like throwing away a couple of dollars(because that’s all that crap is worth) on DmC, knock yourself out.
I know you were never a fan of the DMC/Bayonetta style of action games to begin with, so the dumbed down, God of War style combat in DmC will probably be right up your alley. But I have a suspicion that even you will become annoyed with color-coded enemies and the appallingly bad characters and story.
Read through the basic parts of the shitty ass DmC thread to see why Capcom owes DMC fans a public apology for the trolling and insulting they let that catfish looking motherfucker Alex Jones and supreme douchebag and gay slur that gets redactedTameem Antoinaides get away with.
@Saitsu, I said I would like for Capcom to license the Mega Man IP to Nintendo, since they seem to still remember what the character is about. I never had a problem with companies loaning out their IPs; I just had a problem with an unproven(now proven to be shit tier) developer like Ninja Theory handling the DMC franchise. They proved me right with all of their antics and the sub-par product they put out… Nintendo and Platinum can be trusted to not half-ass things and deliver a good game.
@Syke1, yes, I like MM9 and 10. They were nice throwbacks and fun games. I still run through MM9 every now and again… However, I had hoped the success of MM9 would pave the way for a next-gen Mega Man with updated graphics. I somewhat have gotten my wish with Mighty No. 9, though.
So yeah, until they get their act together(which at this point, may be never)
I think you get as much flack as you get, Po, because you have a tendency to generalize an entire company as being “bad” based off a few specific games or desicions made by said company. That and you seem to subscribe to the idea that if you personally dislike a game, then said game is garbage and everyone who chooses to like and/or play them is an idiot. See your above comment towards DmC and God Of War for a perfect example.
Or another example; you spew all this bullshit about how “generic anime swordsmen” are overcrowding Smash Bros, yet when Ike is announced it’s perfectly fine DESPITE all the rhetoric you speak on how they are ruining the game.
This whole “fuck Capcom” thing just seems kind of silly to me when they’re actually responsible for releasing a ton of awesome games the past few years, DESPITE the stupid desicions they’ve made (and don’t get me wrong, there have been plenty). They gave us Asura’s Wrath, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Dead Rising 3, Dragon’s Dogma, JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, Megaman 9&10, RE6, Strider…and those are just the more recent examples.
It’s not as one sided as you seem to make it. When it comes to a gaming company like this you can either take the bad with the good, or just choose not to support them at all. But endlessly ranting as if they’re bringing about the birth of the anti Christ isn’t productive nor fun to read over and over again.
The thing is, even though I’ve been noted as someone who would support IPs being passed around…where would it stop? You want Mega Man to be passed to Nintendo. Then you’ll want RE to be given to someone. DMC given to Platinum. Eventually, why bother having Capcom as a company when what you’d really want is every IP you ever liked from them passed on to companies you actually trust.
I mean, again, I wouldn’t mind non-used IPs to be loaned to other companies. We already had the big debate about it earlier. On the same note though…where would it end? And don’t say you’d just be satisfied with Mega Man going to Nintendo and that’s it.
