Video Game Confessions

-I “enjoyed” the Wu Tang Shaolin Monks game when I was younger. I want to experience it again now as an adult with a more fighting game knowledge.

-I wanted to track down and play through Jet Force Gemini again… until I read that you gotta get all the tribals just to beat the game. I hate when game designers try to force that collection shit on you… like the first Rayman game: 'such an evil game. It was already hard enough as is, but you mean to tell me that in order to get to the last stage I have to unlock EVERY cage?! Man fuck that.

-This isn’t really much of a confession, but I just wasted another 2-3 hours in Phantasy Star 4 going through an entire dungeon without saving, only to get wiped out -by the “true” boss of said dungeon (thought I already beat the boss(es) but apparently their superior was in the same castle). I have a tendency to be overconfident in RPGs until something like this happens. Now I’m gonna save every chance I get and I won’t rest until I finally beat this game… but I REALLY don’t feel like going through this damn castle again. :frowning:

Proof of my love for Phantasy Star 4. I bet you were in the Air Castle weren’t you? And you got through the dungeon and everything was fine and then Lashic comes out and owns you. Or I guess it could have been Zio’s Fortress as well…

If you beat Lunar Silver Star on the Sega CD go play Eternal Blue on the Sega CD…

I too play mainly girls in Fighting Games… I play Cammy in ST / HDR and I main Juri in Super. I played Gouken in Vanilla and that was okay but I couldn’t find a character I liked in the Vanilla roster at all…

To the guy blaring the 8 bit classic video games covers… you sir are my hero

Alphadragoon: For the short time that the SRK Brawl Chat was alive, that was the most fun I had with Brawl when I was learning and shaping Marth’s metagame and then dropping knowledge on the rest of the Marth community. Good times.

FF7 to me just tried too hard to be complicated. It’s actually a relatively simple story that ends up being so stuffed full of nonsense. The whole cloning thing is one concept that I think is just horse crap since there is only one entity in the game anyway that goes by what most would define as a clone. Also the materia system while varied just comes down to alot of the same abusive set-ups and it’s just to easy to break that system. All FF’s are broken battle system wise though so I suppose it isn’t THAT big of a deal.

FF8 was the first RPG I fell in love with. I feel that it’s better then FF7 story-wise if only because Squall actually gets the girl. No psychotic motherfuckers with an Oedipus Complex dropping in batman style to kill the main chars girl and make the game 10 times more dull as a result, all in one fell swoop. That and I actually gave a damn about Squall because he’s alot like me. Pushes people away because he’s afraid of getting too attached but once he does get attached he will do anything to protect the people he cares about. It also helps that EVERYONE has char development out the ass. Cept Ultimacia which sucks considering how deep in they went on everyone, but meh I can overlook it.

FFIV imo is the first true epic RPG that made you really give a damn about the chars. Excellent plot and char development. I feel this is the game that pushed Sqauresoft to god status among RPG players. Also Cecil isn’t a fucking bitch. He’s emo at first then he mans the fuck up and says ok time to save the fucking world and guess what? He saves the fucking world, end of discussion.

I feel Okami is just as good as the best Zelda game and superior to Twilight Princess. As a matter of fact I beat Okami and played Twilight Princess about 2 weeks later and didn’t enjoy much simply because I kept comparing it to Okami and it kept falling short in my eyes.

I love Scott Pilgrim: The Game. But the omission of online means I have to crown Castle Crashers as the best beat em up of this gaming generation. I hate to do it because I think Scott Pilgrim is superior in every way, but no online is a sack of bullshit.

FFIV is my all time favourite GAME, let alone RPG, or FF game. Rydia was awesome. Kain’s constant betrayals were amazing and fucked your head up. The dynamics of the Rubicant vs Edge battles were great (ever NOT kill Rubicant? Try it). SEVERAL worlds to explore multiple times, and even years later I would find out about stuff I didn’t know existed (ie the OTHER tails).

I stopped playing zelda after fucking windwaker. What a horrible piece of shit that game was.

Oh my… Soviet… You and I are supposed to disagree on everything and now you’re telling me FF4 is your favorite game of all time??? My head is about to explode… the universe is going to end soon if we keep agreeing on things…

I hate how all of the real gems are over in Japan. I wanted No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise for the 360 or PS3…but the US isn’t getting it yet. Konami is publishing it for Europe for the PS3 and so far nothing for the US. This shit always happens. Licensing this and we can’t publish that. That’s why some of us gamers go through serious means to play the games we want.

Can we get Fatal Frame for the Wii? Nintendo’s response - "We do not handle the licensing for that. Ask Atlus."
Can we get Fatal Frame for the Wii? Atlus’ response “We do not handle the licensing for that. Ask Nintendo.”

While the gaming companies are playing patty-cake over something an audience wants, some individuals took it upon themselves to get and even put an English patch to it. Epic Win.

That’s the same reason why I have Naruto Shippuden Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 3 instead of the bastardized version of CONR 3.

@Emblem Lord

Best fire emblems of all time had to be the Japanese ones if I had to order the ones I’ve played/beaten

FE5>FE4>Path of Radiance>FE8(only because that 4th wall breaking shit isn’t in it)>>>FF7

Videogame Confessions:

Legend of Zelda 1+2 were the best in the series
I enjoyed Superman 64, Fuck the haters! Superman that oh, then watch me crank that robocop…

Perhaps, but it still makes it interesting all the same. Even the strongest characters by these sayings can get “screwed” over, while the weaker ones could surpass the stronger ones.

It isn’t likely, but I’ve seen it happen. I’ve seen even the shittiest characters in FE turn out quite good, while my stronger/dependable ones got RNG screwed.

i have played Zelda A Link to the Past for like a bazillion times and i just cant get tired of that game, its one of my favorites, ironically only 1 time i played it on the SNES…

When i first saw mario 64 and everyone went nuts, i tought that was ugly and didn’t appeal to me, even to this day i have played it like 1 or 2 times and i just can’t get into it… give me may 2D Mario

funny you mention link to the past cause i’m actually playing it right now for the first time. i find it boring right now because its terribly non-challenging, mind you i’m not very far yet. it feels like a dumbed-down version of zelda 1 with prettier graphics.

Hey now, you can’t totally bash it. After all, they’re like, 3 steps from turning Brawl into Mugen. :wgrin:

EDIT: Huh, SRK finally dumped the Smash subforum. Damn shame. That thing provided such humor…

Damn, that would actually be pretty cool to dick around with. I mean, who wouldn’t want to fight against SSJ12 Future Trunks or Evil Ken ver. 27 on the Wii? :looney:

yes saving is your friend in that game, ugh i loves it so much(i have a genesis emulator on my iphone strictly to play just that game haha.)

yeah, it is not that difficult, but when i was a kid and played it, it was challenging heh, i really like the story maybe thats why but i keep playing it lol

haha nah, work takes up almost all of my time in general, I get around 2 hours a day where I play videogames, Since i got my Ps3 I just go online and play BB, Tekken 6, HDR or SSF4 so I dont play games i hate anymore lol, but before that i just played whatever game i have that i didnt finish. I played/finished most of those games that i hated coz of this stupid mentality i have that if I started something then i have to finish it, otherwise it keeps bugging me all the time till i get it done…
As for wasting money, I’m a collector so there were quite a bit of games that i bought just to add them to the collection, i do that with everything that i collect; Watches, Rings, coins, BDSM stuff, videogames etc… just like videogames I have watches and Rings in my collection that I’ve never worn before. I know its kinda odd but i just enjoy adding a valuable piece to my collections more than actually using the thing IRL

You are right on the money.
I thought I just had to find the torch after beating his underlings and then leave, but nooooooo… he just had to be there waiting near a fake treasure chest. That bastard.

I spent hours on SMT: Nocturne JUST on making the perfect skill combinations for the demons I used.

Pro Tip: When Lashic Powers Up (I dont’ remember what the ability is called but it says he raises all his stats) use the psycho wand immeidately to debuff him and the air castle is extra tough 'cause the monsters are all a real pain and its really tempting to use skills and techniques to plow through but try to save as much as you can for that fight with Lashic… as far as bosses go in PS4, for the level most people are when they fight him, he’s a tough SOB…

Pro Tip 2: Grand cross his ass as often as possible. (Efess + Crosscut)

Despite only lasting me a weekend, I enjoyed Star Fox Adventures on the GC.

I never played a single Silent Hill game. And only played Resident Evil 2.

I also think Parasite Eve 2 was the worst sequel to a game EVER

I got to the Ark or whatever at the end, ran out of ammo, and was getting my ass kicked. Gave up on the game and never looked back. Sad too, cuz I really REALLY like Parasite Eve. Would make a sick movie.
