-bought gran turismo 4 for at least 3 times over by now
-was disappointed and confused at the end of shadow of the colossus
the guy with the giant skirt/city below his waist? i beat the game but dont really remember too much of it. take horse, go to shrine, raise sword in the air, go to monster and kill it, repeat.
It’s yet another sadistic element of my personality…but I’m very much entertained by disappointing situations in the gaming industry. One great example of this that comes to mind— the situation where a game is delayed so much it becomes a joke. Besides the obvious legend that is Duke Nukem Forever, take a look at Gran Turismo 5. I realize that may actually come out at some point in the next 12 years, unlike Duke, but the whole situation is hilarious to me. I don’t genuinely care for the game…but I’ve gone to forums just to see fan bitter reactions… another good one is Castle Crashers on PSN, though it did get an actual release date recently… I’d go to forums just to look for stuff like “Guys, this game isn’t ever coming out. I gave up a long time ago.” I remember getting a good laugh out of that website that went over all the things that have happened (entire movie trilogies coming out, releasing on dvd and airing on television, etc.) since Duke Nukem Forever’s announcement.
I’ll also check out the forums of a game that bombed horribly…or came out as a huge disappointment…it’s like a wonderful philly cheesesteak to me…the posts from people who are clearly in denial about how terrible the game is, constant cheap shot/trolling commentary…SO much delicious hatred.
-I love arcade beatemups…but I never got into the classic Xmen 6-player one. This is primarily due to a very shallow reason…those ugly “OLD ol’ school” designs. My first impression of the Xmen was the blue/yellow outfits of the cartoon and early '90s, minus Gambit having the cool trenchcoat. That’s how the Xmen always look to me, and I have a hard time accepting any other design.
—I still get carried away with intense moments of “gamer rage”. I’ve broken 2 or 3 xbox 360 controllers in the past year or two. My current controller has an “iffy” LB button at the moment, all because I just lose it sometimes.
Got hyped for Spore when it came out 2 years ago. I just graduated college and was starting my career, thought I was going to sink a couple of weeks into the game before my life officially ended with the new job. I played that garbage game for 2 days and I felt my wallet was rapped. Worst PC game I’ve ever bought.
A lot of people were surprised that I used Sean in SF3. He was the first character i ever used and I stuck with him from that point forward.
I still haven’t played one single Final Fantasy Game. Slack ass.
he was also the first character i used in sf3ng and sf3si in arcades. but when i got ts for ps2 i shafted sean to the side for ken, ryu and gouki. sean sucks, his si version was the bomb though.
[quote=Sleepy Wolf;9374704-I had barely even watched football before my brother bought Madden '94 and I learned every aspect of the sport from that game. I haven’t bought a Madden since but I do now follow the NFL.[/quote]
Same here. I don’t follow the NFL but I occasionally watch games and enjoy knowing what’s going on. I definitely learned it all from Madden '94 and it’s glorious Sega Genesis cart with the yellow tab.
I play 8bit music and classic gaming covers in my car at high speeds with windows down.
I bought Final Fantasy XIII at Midnight.
I own a copy of BlazBlu. At least I can say I don’t play that one…
My tag is from Fire Emblem, but I have only beaten one FE game. I just hate that the stat increases for level ups are random. You can manipulate the number generators with different movements and actions, but the concept itself is so fucking stupid in the first place.
I love Demon’s Souls but I haven’t touched it since February.
I bought a Wii for Brawl and spent 2 years trying to like Brawl and trying to support the game competitively. Biggest mistake of my gaming career.
The older I get the more I realize that while FF7 was a solid game it’s not in the top 5 of FF games at all. It was just overhyped plain and simple.
I cried when I heard Xenogears ending theme. The song seemed to capture the struggle of the main chars Fei and Elly so perfectly, the tears just came streaming down my face. That and I knew the greatest RPG that would ever be created was now over and I would never experience anything like it ever again.
See, replace FF7 with FF6 and you have exactly my thoughts on the subject. Although it could arguably be a top 5 game, but definitely not the ZOMG best.
Small Two of Pieces is a pretty emotional song, so I could understand that. Xenogears had one of the best soundtracks of all time.
Speaking of Xenogears, I guess I have my own confession to make:
I never finished the game. I’ve seen my brother play it eight gazillion times, but I never got into it. Not to say it’s a bad game (because it isn’t) but parts of it weren’t my cup of tea I guess.
I never finished FF VII. I’m trying to play through it now, but I get burnt out by RPGs quickly.
I love all the Megaman X games, including the later ones.
I have BlazBlue and Tekken 6, and I love those games more than I do SSF 4, yet I still play SSF 4 more. The flaws of SSF 4 piss me off yet for some reason I don’t want to be bothered by learning new match-ups/gameplay physics for a different fighter.
When all my friends were buying their copies of Tekken 5, I jumped on eBay and picked up a copy of Tekken 1. Stupid, perhaps. Shameful, no. Hilarious, of course.
Once owned a copy of Pokemon Red and I never finished it. I blame my inability to complete it on the fact that I never captured any rare or awesome Pocketmans like Snorlax, must have felt I was too good for stuff like that.

I **Hate **Shooting games (especially FPS) with every fiber in my body, IMO its the stupidest genre ever and everyone who likes them is a fuckin’ tool (no offence to anyone here, its just how i see it)
Oddly enough I’ve bought quite a bit of shooting games and even finished some (Black, CoD games, MoH games, GoldenEye) -
RPGs bore the living crap out of me and I pretty much hate the genre, yet i’ve finished every Final fantasy from I to XIII (didnt play tactics though), Xenogears, Xenosaga, Tales series and other RPGs, but i really do hate the genre and think its fuckin stupid.
-
I’ve put in 2000+ hours in Vanilla SF4 eventhough I fuckin’ hated that game.
-
I’ve never heard of 3rd Strike 'til i got pissed from Vanilla SF4 and threw it out of the window (around Feb '10) and started looking for a new fighter to play. Since then 3s is one of the only games me and my friends play.
-
I’m a huge Mario fan and finished every single game to date 100% aside from the 2 Galaxy games coz I hate the Wii, idk why but i just despise that piece of shit… only game I liked on it is No More Heroes which i consider one of my all-time favorite games.
-
I bought my Wii for Red Steel, when it first came the concept seemed very awesome, sadly i was wrong.
-
I’ve never EVER played a Zelda game, or a Pokemon game. And i dont intend to. I have a copy of Twlight princess that came with the Wii but till this day its still unopened.
-
AFAIK there hasnt been a single Anime game of an anime i know of that isnt in my possession, Idk why but i get too hyped for those games eventhough 95% of them are pure shit.
-
Fighting games are the only games i Truly enjoy, every other genre gets a “good” or “fun” at best from me.
my other gaming friends call me shallow coz of that, but to me their opinion is invalid considering they pretty much only play fuckin’ MW2 which not only is a lame FPS, but its the most noob friendly shooter to date. -
I have around 60+ games that are still unopened and i never had any interest in playing them but bought them so that my collection wont be FGs-exclusive.
-
I always pick the skimpy chick (skimpiest if there’s many) in any game I play, either that or a girly looking dude (eg: see my avatar). I’ve got alot of shit coz of it but I pick them coz its almost always a safe bet that they’ll have the most stylish/ awesome gameplay.
In the end they shut their mouths when i style on 'em with the “silly looking stripper”.
Lunar Silver Star for the Sega CD is the ONLY rpg I have ever beaten 100%. I plan to keep it that way.
I still like Brawl, although it’s flawed. I liked playing it online with folks like you. I’d probably still play it every now and again if the online didn’t require you to play friends if you want to set rules and have one on ones.
But the Smash fanbase seriously lost the plot for me when they started modding the fucking game, to the point now where they’re basically fan-creating Melee 2.0 AKA “Project M”. Even I who used to support Smash competitively couldn’t take any of those dudes seriously anymore after that.
the exact opposite for me, i feel its actually the most complete video game experience of my life. i really liked the story, i thought it was told well, the battle/materia system was understated but allowed lots of room for customisation, the replay factor is immense imo. i dunno, i replayed it to test if it was nostalgia, 2 years ago and was taken aback by how varied and full an experience it was. i do feel that they could have gone more in depth with character dev for everyone else but all in all it was pretty satisfying.
i still haven’t played cronotrigger to completion, i got bored both times i tried :-o
Thats a very self destructive tendancy you have with video games, i dont mean this as a flame, but do you live your day to day life doing things you hate and throwing away money? Think of all the time you could have spent doing something worthwhile instead of playing games you hate, or money saved on games you know you;ll hate or not play. i know this is a confessions thread and i only read the last page so thats why i quoted you, i’m sure theres other stuff like this from other people but i feel inclined to advise you to stop doing what youre doing lol.
I bought a wii as well as the 3 best games (mario galaxy, brawl, Zelda twilight princess) which after a few months of purchase (and upon completion) I had sold. I’m now left with house of the dead 3 and wii sports and a couple of gamecube games. I haven’t turned my Wii on for the better part of a year or so.
Only reason I haven’t sold it is because of the new Zelda and Mario games.
p.s; I wish developers would stop making crappy games for the Wii.
