Victory: the salvation of Marvel, the Street Fighter Community, Gamers, and

did anyone download that file and wouldnt mind to send it to me over aim? Thx in advance.

Bang the Machine was owned by fire.

Am I the only one who sees the bad omen here?

I uploaded the Intro onto my site, so bandwith should not be an issue this time.

shinraven is legit. good luck on your project. (this is motoki)

edit
do you have video footage of the intro or do you only have audio?

I only have audio as it was simply me exploring the various ways I could go about making the film and also discussing my inspirations.

The next step is a video Intro, and that will be about 5-7 minutes in length. I have a lot of ideas for it, but there’s still a few loose ends I need to tie up before I can take it to the next level.

well, it could be hot. i’ll talk to you later about some stuff on aim though.

is this the same thing you sent me like a month ago? seems interesting… would like to see the final result soon. is there gonna be any video? or is this just pure audio?

Th… th… th…ahhh the… there ya go. Fuck marvel!!!

No this is not the same thing I sent you a month ago. IIRC what I sent you a month ago is the original video trailer for Victory which is on the same site as the audio intro.: http://gamefaqs.servebeer.com/brett/

The final result will not be up anytime soon at all. What I’m planning is so ambitious that there is no way to predict how long it will take. Suffice to say it will be a feature length documentary, and it may even be a series of documentaries.

Well…

I clearly overestimated certain factors, but I would still like to get this thing off the ground. So if there’s anyone who found the audio introduction interesting, then let me know and perhaps we can put the wheels in motion. I ordered a top notch DV Camcorder a couple months ago, but that fell through because they ran out of stock, and now I can’t afford it

I must have missed the preview the first time around, thanks for bumping it. The audio preview is very interesting; it grabbed my attention right from the beginning and made me want more. Definitely a good start! I’m sure the final product will be awesome.

Thanks

It’s nice to get some positive feedback.

I like the idea =D I’m willing to back you up in anyway I can;you should come down to T6 and get some footage of this tournament. Empire Arcadia is coming down to defend their title as the best gamers against Canada… It’s pretty much the states best against Canada, so I think it will be somethin’ you should have in your documentary… the environment will be great. You will be able to capture that it’s not just a game, it’s a a community! The gamers are all friends, brought together for their love of street fighter… it’s going down this weekend, try to come.

Edit:

lol, T6 is the national tournament of Canada…

I have one problem with your project though. I think you should make a documentary about the street fighter scene as a whole rather then just then just the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 scene. I mean, if you notice most of the big groups they don’t just play Marvel VS. Capcom 2. They might only take mvc2 seriously, but they are also playing cvs2, st, 3s, and recently people starting playing tekken 5…the love of street fighter (initially) brought so many people together to sit down, talk shit, and when the battles were all over… they chill like nothin’ happend and in the end of it all are still friends. for the love of the game!

I support this project 100%

You seem to go off a couple of times which made me laugh. When you said " I’m not going to get into that" I was thinking to myself thank god.

Bottom line I liked it even if it was just audio. Can’t wait for the final project.

Its nice that youre making this (anything that involves serious commitment is a good thing), but if you think its going to “save” anything, youre dreaming. Specially if youre focusing on OLD-ASS games.

Use what youre learning from this to produce something more interesting. The fighting community doesnt WANT to be saved. Theyre happy and proud (!) of their mediocrity.

The only way for 2D fighting games to be saved is by having players stop playing old-ass games, so companies will release new games that look good and are easy to pick up. By supporting old games, all the players are doing is assuring the genre will die.

I wish I could go to T6, but I don’t have the dough. Hopefully someone there will record it. I agree that it’s about much more than just the game, and that’s one of the main things I intend to focus on.

You’re right, it would be better to broaden it to the street fighter scene as a whole.

You’re probably right about the community not wanting to be saved. My only response to that is I was in a different state of mind back in April when I made this topic.

People still play ST, and it’s been around for much longer than Marvel. So I think there’s still some life left in the game, and while I understand your point, I think that playing older games is not a surefire way to kill off 2-D fighters. On the contrary, if people remain interested in games that have been around for awhile, they will still be interested in trying out the new games when they are released.

How does playing old games ensure that companies won’t make any new ones? It’s not like companies make any money from old games they aren’t selling boards/discs/carts of any more.

Suffice it to say that the Victory video trailer was made months before I had any kind of idea as to where I would like it to go. It was created purely for entertainment value and to build anticipation for Victory, which at that point was just an abstraction to me.

Complete Generalization

Even though it was extremely discursive, the audio commentary leaned more towards the emotions and feelings of society, rather than being a documentary about the street fighter community. Granted, I love the idea of you using SF as an example, I think you should have an exact thesis and go from there. Just my two cents…

Then again, what do I know… I’m not god…
