your going to use a TE stick? or getting the 1/2 player vewlix panel?
nice work. it already gets cramped when my friends and i play sf4 on my vewlix L cabinet. i have a 2 player control panel and sometimes we bump elbows and weāre your average asian so i dunno how the slim is gonna work.
Iāve thought about this a lot as this is very much one of the limitations of the design. Iāll initially build one CP for solo play and maybe a wider one for dual play. Jealous of you if you have your very own Vewlix :arazz: !!!
Subscribed.
Iāve always wanted to build a cab of my own, so itās great that youāre doing this.
Do you happen to have scans of measurements or scale/shop drawings or schematics of some sort that you could post for people interested in building there own? I too think a Vewlix slim would be perfect for the space I have.
Iāll be building the panel. Iāve bought one of those MadCatz arcade sticks from ebay which Iām going to hack. Hopefully itāll be easier to solder than the wireless 360 pad was!
Iāll be sure to post plans when the build work is complete. Hopefully it wonāt be too long before this is done. Even though I have my own room for my stuff, I still have limited wall space as the room has lots of bookcases. Thatās one of the reasons for building the slim as well as the cost of the TV and the fact that Iāll be able to use it for my PC as well with a decent resolution.
I have a question for asiangrafx or anyone else that has a Vewlix. Can you let me know the height/thickness of the control panel (7cm or so?) and how wide the acrylic inlay for the stick is (15 cm or so?)
Thanks!
- Thanks for the pics. I was thinking of doing something very similar. Iām going to use the Sanus MF215 in order to get full articulation and rotation for normal TV viewing or portrait for schmups. One more question. Is your Vewlix slim the same depth as the standard Vewlix design or did you also make it smaller in that respect?
Iām going to use a few support points to hold the TV when it gets to the proper position since Iām not going to make cutouts on the side panel to hold the TV.
- Did you check Donovan Myersā website? He has his entire build in Google sketch. You can then print out the dimensions. Itās a fantastic starting point.
Build two, play back to back like this:

Man i wish someone could build me two of these slim vewlixās and do it like that.
Iāll just put a HDMI splitter and split the video signal from the one 360/ps3.
ill take some pics and measurements of the control panel for you tomorrow
Some of the dimensions are the same including the depth, the distance the angled sides protrude into the middle of the base unit and the height of the base unit. For the rest, Iāve made adjustments so it doesnāt look odd when housing a smaller monitor. The overall height has been reduced slightly and the relative position of the monitor changed.
As a guide, I used the schematic in the Vewlix manuals.
Thanks! Iāll wait on these before ordering my acrylic!
Itāll be the weekend soon so Iāll be able to make some progress again.
I like this one http://www.donovanmyers.com/2009/04/vewlix-tournament-edition-worklog-04/
but yours seems more ideal for a house(small house) will you be posting the specs and all how to build yours once its done?
Nice looking Cab so far. Iād love to do something like this sometime but I just donāt have the money to spare.
Thanks for all the positive comments!
I will make and post some plans once Iāve completed the build. That was one of the objectives really, to try and make something which was more home friendly where space is limited.
The weekend will be here soon so itāll be time to get back at itā¦
Ok, so Iāve started work on the CP. Iāve completed some of the bevelled front pieces and the base. Iām still trying to figure out the best way of making replaceable CPāsā¦

Awesome work Eric! i was gonna go with the Donovan Myers build, but yours is looking to be pretty nice as well. what to do, what to doā¦either way, keep the work log cominā!
wonder if theres a place that sells just the top sheet of the vewlix 1 or 2 player panels without all the buttons and all, i dont think they use plexi, its just like metal on some thick shiny plasticy uh top
I really like this slim version of the Vewlix (which is already slim itself, compared to my old mame cabinet). Have you thought about what color scheme you are going with?
