I can use CAD and design a flat-pack Ikea style furniture Vewlix clone with no beveled edges, and get them cut and packed for dirt cheap, but then it would be the end-user responsible to use a 45 degree chamfer bit to get the beveled edge desired on the vewlix cabinet and control panel. Or it could be left as a blocky unfinished Vewlix trash and still be fully functional.
Not a bad idea, it would leave it up to the user to simply finish the edges off if they desire to. However, that IS he hardest part, beveling the edges.
Personally, I would go with a flat pack, and have the edges bevelled at a cabinet makers, but that’s just me. Also depends on what you’re thinking of in terms of price point.
Exactly like this - i could make the option for beveled or non-beveled, i just don’t know how much the cabinet builder would up the price.
I was also thinking of 3 sizes, a vewlix slim, normal, and wide variants - for those of us that want to stuff a 42" 600HZ plasma in a cabinet like what’s featured on newegg.com for $500 USD. Terrible waste for home use, but excellent for an arcade screen. Also the wide variant would have to extend the control panel some distance from the screen so that the light does not kill the eyes.
The cabinet manufacturer is mameroom.com - they don’t seem to want to give me an estimated price until i am finished with the plans.
hi mate great cabinet and very good job on the top im a carpenter and even im going to find that tricky!
Can i ask what is the main paint finish on the cab? is it gloss matt? did you achieve this by brush or can?
Also do you know where i can get the vewlix logo and sf4 character moves list art?
many thanks daniel, (used to live in sutton myself but no down in cornwall).
Hi Daniel, there’s a lot of info on the plans thread that may be useful There’s also a download link to the artwork I used on there. I did have the logo stored separately; I’ll see if I can find it but I’ve rebult my PC since.

Hi sponge, if you mean the marquee, it has acrylic on the front and a wood backboard to it rather than acrylic. Let me know if that’s not what you mean!
