Vewlix 'Slim' worklog (plus some other bits ...)

Thanks! I’m getting really desperate to use it as well. I’ve installed the speakers in the cab including the sub as well. I’m going to try and get the pad wired up tomorrow and then I’m going to be really tempted to buy the PC vesion. The demo looks great as I’m fortunate to have a GTX285.

I must get around to updating the plans some more soon…

If I ever do try and copy off your plans.

No doubt I"m gunna try and do the 2P panel.

-EX

If you have a GTX 285, I would opt for the PC version, the ink options and what not make the game look cleaner, and since you made a cabinet, might as well make it arcade perfect haha.

That would be cool. I hope I can motivate myself to do one once I finish this one. The first addon will be a mouse/keyboard deck for PC games though.

I wish I’d gone for the deal on Steam the other week. Nevermind…

The pad is now wired/soldered up and connected to a terminal block. I just need to complete the wiring on the buttons and sort out a box for the pcb and I’ll be ready to play.

I’m thinking later down the line if you ever get a buddy to regularly play you could make a swappable 2 player panel and use 2x DB 25 connectors to make the swap quick and easy.

That would be cool. I wrestled long and hard with how to implement a swapable control panel which would be secure and stable. Needless to say I failed so I went for the ‘easy’ bolt on option which gives some flexibility/upgradeability. Going to continue to think about this though.

I’ve now finished the wiring for the CP. It’s ready to roll at last

You’re done! :woot:

The control panel wiring is so much more tidy than my last attempt.

i’m going to start on mine next month but mad props dude…
this is one of the best i seen?
do u happened to have a blueprint i can use or something if u don’t mine.

Looks Amazing ericleroi!

Thanks! It needed to be as I’ll be swapping it in and out for other types of control panels I plan to make for it as well. I didn’t want to risk damaging it taking it in and out. I plan to make a casing for the underneath of it to further protect it.

I’m working on one at the moment:

My photoshop skills are causing me delays on getting a plan for the top section made at the moment. Hope to solve this soon.

Thank you! There’s still a whole host of things I’d like to do to finish it off properly at the back of the cab though.

I’ve ordered the led’s to illuminate the moveslist on the CP. Hope to have this done this week when they arrive. I still need to find some suitable silver trim to go around the movelist inlay to complete it.

My pleasure. The cabinet is based around a 24" 16:9 monitor but this design would be good for a 28" as well I reckon provided the speakers are installed sensibly. Anything less than a 22" I think would be too small. With a 22" it would be sensible to reduce the height by a few cm and the width s well obviously.

ericleroi, for the vinyl sticker, is it on the the front of the marquee or did you have it printed in reverse and put it under the plastic marquee?

It’s actually a plain photoprint I had done rather than a sticker. I placed it behind the acrylic, cut it to size and then used clear tape to attach it around the edges. The tape only overlaps by a few mm at the front of the acrylic and is completely hidden from view as it sits in the recess behind the top piece section and the top black bar. It seemed much simpler to do it this way to be honest!

LOL. That sounds like a good idea.

Sorry about the poor quality pic, I’ll get something better soon. I have the LED’s sorted out but need to align them and will add some reflective material to give a more even spread of light:

Holy shit! lol looks amazing.

Im VERY impressed sir. I’ve been away from the thread for awhile, But did you ever get a chance to find the dimensions? My plan is to build a head to head set up for tekken 6.

Yeah its located here
