Can someone in the know tell me the dimensions (size) on custom art templates? I figured they are about a standard A4 in size. I wouldn’t like to mess things up and waste a lot of color on my printer.
Hello, new to the forum. As many of you, this thread has inspired me to buy one aswell.
This is my first arcade stick and i’m already playing better with it then my ds4 controller, love the feeling, precision that a dpad never had.
I’m about to order new buttons for it but i’m in doubt if i should order a stick aswell.
The sanwa OBSF/C 30mm buttons are easy to find in my country but for a JLF stick and a 5Pin ftf cable i would have to order it abroad and the shipping/tax- costs are rather expensive.
The venom reviews i’ve read, it seemed like a great starter stick for the price, but if i want to change the stick/buttons i got to spend another 60-70euros more.
I got the venom a couple of days now and i’ve got 2 weeks try, so i can return it in that period and get my money back or invest in another one (for example the Mad Catz TE2, which is 200euro).
So is it worth to spend in total 160-170euro (paid 100euro for the venom), for a modded venom or just buy a good branded stick which has better pcb i presume and be done with it?
As a newbie i have to ask this, is Sanwa JLF TP 8YT that much better then the venom stock stick? The Seimitsu LS-32 for example, after reading about it, seems very familiar with the stock stick, don’t shoot me if i’m wrong .
I must say i don’t like the stock stick that much, something feels off…
I play mostly on PC btw.
Its not really comparable to an ls-32. The stock stick feels more like and ls-58/jlf combo. In my experience, the switches are the reason the stick feels different from a jlf, because once they are swapped for that of a jlf, the difference between the sticks is extremely subtle. If you want a smoother feel, i’d recommend just buying a jlf pcb with the microswitches.
Yeah I really wish you could just buy the shell from someplace. I see Mayflash uses the same case as well as 8bitdo. Would be a great project box for making custom sticks. I really like the feel of it and the weight.
What sticks are available locally to you? I replaced my stock stick with a LS-40-01 and I much prefer it. I felt like the stock stick was too stiff and boxy (and not because of the square gate, its hard to describe) and I wanted a lighter stick with less travel to activate and that’s what I found with the LS-40-01. Its very smooth and you can almost throw it in the direction you want, I’ve been trying to do Cammy’s instant divekick today and I was having the most success with doing the QCB motion and then flinging the stick to the diagonal.
Do you have the layer you used for the buttons? they are a bit better than mine, one part I’d would love to improve on.
Anyway this is what I have been creating the past few days with thanks from djb1ge for a bit of inspiration and tips
I got rid of the square gate after a few days, but the parts are not bad. They have a bit of a different feel to them, I think the stick is a cheaper metal but should not need to be replaced so thats £15 saved, the buttons dont have the same clicky feel so feel a bit different but i havn’t noticed any lag from them whilst using them. They are gone now that I’m doing a second custom stick
Liek Earthwormben stated, it’s not tremendously horrible or anything. If you’re looking for a cheap stick you could do worse. He’s right, it does feel a bit different, I felt like some diagonals didn’t feel great for me personally, but I could adjust if needed. Buttons feel ok, but you know they’re knockoffs. But hey, I could still have fun with it (and the Mayflash that was out previously as well).
I’ve still got the stock stick in mine for the time being and other than the fact it feels a bit ‘clunky’ hitting diagonals (still unsure if that’s the stick or the square gate) it’s still perfectly usable.
Regarding the buttons, the stock ones felt a bit loose and innacurate to me but I never had an issue with missed inputs even with the slightly unresponsive feel. The sanwa buttons are far more to my taste.
Hi guys,
I never used an arcade stick, but as a fighting game lover and with the release of SFV i feel like its the time to start learning. After reading all of these posts, i decided to order the venom arcade stick. Really hyped!!!
Also ordered Sanwa buttons, from what i read the stock ones aren’t that good.
But i was wondering if someone could send me the template for this arcade stick. Since the pre posted template links don’t work.
The diagonals aren’t great but that’s a personal taste imo.
The stick feels clicky but pretty good. The buttons felt loose and cheap. So if you’re interested in saving money, replace buttons only.if you can’t hack the square gate then obviously that needs to go as well.
Hey there! I thought it was necessary to give you the direct link to @johnnytoxic 's Venom template post, in which he kindly shared his work (which is itself based on @xiondash 's work) with us.
So, there you go: The NEW Official Arcade Stick Art Thread NO IMAGE QUOTING!
That used to be a thread on it’s own, dedicated to Venom artwork templates, and for some reason, it was merged into what turns out to be a gigantic, confusing thread where everybody’s talking about different artwork templates for different sticks and it’s really hard to pay attention and properly answer questions and help people out.
Shortly before that thread was merged, I asked a question I never got an answer to: why is there an extra square/circle in the top row, next to the “turbo” light? Is that maybe a leftover from the Mayflash template? (Of course, since the template uses layers for everything, it’s really easy to remove, so no problem here, but I was just curious…)
