It does indeed sound defective then. If you open the stick from the back and remove the gate from the lever you should be able to take a look at the switches and see exactly what is wrong.
On a different note, if you’re gonna do the ultimate mod to a JLF, you might want to look at the ls-56 though, that lots of ppl like that one for it’s harder spring, fast activation, short throw and the available octogate. The LS-32 is worth looking into as well, since it is similar to the JLF but with slightly less throw and faster activation. I think the stock JLF is a fine lever, but the mods remove its best qualities. To each his own, though!
I just ordered this stick and since i don’t feel like soldering anything i wanted to order a female-to-female cable for plug and play.
The amazon.co.uk one doesn’t ship to my country and i’ve read other europeans in this thread had trouble finding one as well, so i went and found the same (as far as i can tell!) cable on amazon.de and ordered them:
DISCLAIMER!: I am not 100% sure this is the correct cable since the seller on amazon seems to use the same pictue for a few of their products but for less than €5 i thought what the hell.
It will arrive in 1 to 3 weeks so will let everyone know when they arrive if they actually fit or not!
I have read your guide (it’s very nice), the problem is that the manufacturer/distributor of the female-to-female cable you link to on amazon.co.uk (Sourcingmap) does not ship to my country, and having read this entire thread i noticed other europeans were having issues finding a place to order the cable.
Thats why i went looking for a different source and it turns out that on amazon.de the (apparently) same cable can be found (also from Sourcingmap, funnily enough) with shipping to my country (the Netherlands) so i thought i’d mention it on this thread.
Only thing i noticed when searching for the cable is that they (Sourcingmap) seem to use the same picture for different products, so i’m not 100% sure it will be the correct cable untill i receive it, at which point i’ll add it to this thread (and perhaps you could then add it to your guide as an alternative source for the cable).
EDIT: looking at the site again i think this one might be even closer to the correct cable, again, same picture so who knows:
The ones i ordered were 20cm and the amazon.co.uk ones are 30cm, and this one is 30cm also so fingers crossed the ones i ordered work too =)
Actually I did see it but I tend to ignore all Ebay related links since i really dislike Ebay (and before you ask, no i don’t really have a good reason/explanation for that) sorry about that, it is indeed a good find for people who don’t mind ordering something from Ebay =)
I hope so too, it’s the connectors i’m worried about but the size in the description seems to match up so fingers crossed =)
When dealing with a niche area like arcade controllers you can’t be too picky, even more so with even a more niche part.
If you want to spend some more money go to http://godlikecontrols.com/ and order the JLF-TE Cable
It’s intended for Mad Catz Arcade sticks but its works well for other sticks. Its the same as the 2.54mm Pitch Female to Female JST XH Connector Cable but longer and it has the correct latching JST end for connecting to a Sanwa or Seimitsu joystick.
Can someone show me the correct orientation for the JLF-TE cable on a Seimitsu stick for the Venom? I tried a couple configurations, none worked correctly, and looking at the wiring schematic diagram, none of them should work correctly.
I’ve got mine hooked up with PC jumpers to the stock harness, and it works ok, but I’d like to use the cable instead. If you could post a picture, that would be amazing (again, Seimitsu, not Sanwa.)
Believe it would work with Sanwa. On the Seimitsu two of the wires would have to cross?
That’s what I did with the jumpers and harness, and it worked. None of the 4 orientations in the diagram would work without at least 2 wires in the cable crossing over
Currently playing the SFV beta test with my Venom (Hayabusa stick, Sanwa buttons)
Does anyone else feel a small amount of input lag, even in the menus? Maybe it’s just me, asking to make sure!
That art came out really nice. Liking the color scheme of the stick altogether. Also answers my question as to whether screw-in Seimitsus will fit on my Mayflash.
Ok so I just got all my shipped stuff from the move down to Miami, trying the venom out and it is def my ps4 that is having a hard time keeping a solid connection on the stick. Every time I play on my ps4 randomly it’ll say the controller was disconnected, I thought originally I had a faulty stick but nope it’s working fine on my PS3. Hopefully there is some driver or something Sony can push to my system
Although i’m not really all that technical, i doubt the stick uses the same chip to connect to PS3 and PS4 so the PS4 “part” of your stick might still be faulty (specially if others do not have this issue).
Also if others don’t have this issue don’t hold your breath on Sony investing time in getting a patch/driver out to you any time soon.
